This list is for games played in the cells of a board with a 4x4 grid (16 playing positions). The quintessential game to me would be an abstratct strategy game played on the 4x4 grid with just plain black and white men.

Some games are included that somehow extend the 4x4 footprint are included.

* Pylos stacks spheres as a mechanic to increase the complexity of the basic 4x4 grid.
* Score Four is included since the balls are stacked in the 4x4 grid and there are never more than 16 playing positions at once. (There are a number of versions in database under different names.)
* Some of the children's 4x4 bingo games are added but not all.

So this list is necessarily somewhat arbitrary.

4 circles in 2x2 grid, with 4 positions in each circle...

If I understand this right, it's a puzzle not a game. the disks move via a slot from cirle to circle. You're trying to get each disc in the same color as the section of the wheel.

Kid's Bingo game

As when I played this as a kid, only the person spotting the desired thing could use it. So if my brother saw a cow, and cow was on both cards, only he could use it.

I don't remember size of board I played. It was two pieces of pasteboard riveted together. Over each object to be spotted was a red plastic window that you could slide. Mom and Dad must have been happy for a little peace and quiet on some of those long road trip in the 1960s.

63. Board Game: Forma o Colore [Average Rating:6.19 Unranked]

The designer created two versions of this game. Not sure exactly how the versions played out. The first version was named Forma o Colore and I think it was included in German magazine Focus after its initial release. It was subsequently redesigned to use a rubber pad with markers that stick into cavities in the pad. This version is now marketed by name OXXO.

Play a piece of flip a piece to get 4 in a row. the twist is that one player is playing to get colors, either red or blue, in a line and the other is playing to get either letter, X or O, in a line.

See Rubik's Magic for a list of similar games.

Game for 2-4 players. Each player gets a 4x4 plot in the garden in which to place the plant cards that are collected.

Doesn't seem to be any significant to 4x4 grid. It seems winner just needs to collect 4 different plant cards.

Sort of a stretch, but one player does control a 4x4 grid which is the lake. The other player moves around the lake in an outer concentric square. So the game is perhaps more properly on a 6x6 grid?

Having two seperate playing areas is an interesting twist on a 4x4 game.

74. Board Game: The Green Pipe [Average Rating:7.25 Unranked]

mbmbmbmbmb
This is a rather convoluted strategy game where the players are trying to guess hidden information supplied by the other player. It is played on a board with a 4x4 grid. Two coins placed on random squares mark the head and tail of the pipe. Each player then draws a secret pipe between the two ends and puts three holes in the pipe.

Sort of a battleship type guessing game.

Some grid and non-grid games that have (or could be resized to have) 16 squares.

Five Men's Morris (same board as Six Men's Morris which has 16 positions, but only 5 Men on each side.)

Kage - (grid) reduce grid to 4x4. Probably not too interesting at this small size. Reminds of something I read about Hex being a knife fight in a phone booth.
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/6426

"Square Play" type game (non-grid) with four concentric sqaures, maybe one less man each. (Normal game has 5 nexted squares)
http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/31657/square-play

Six Men's Morris (has 16 positions, but not in a grid) http://boardgamegeek.com/game/25702

Surakarta - (grid with decorations) remove one set of loops.
http://boardgamegeek.com/game/13715

These race games are in Geek database and use 16 spaces. They could easily be recast into a 4x4 grid such that you go up a column when you hit the end of a row.

Derby Day

Eskimo

Junior Auto Racing Game

You Be The Judge

Dunce is a 2-4 player game. If four players are playing then each player essentially is racing in his own column of the 4x4 grid.
Dunce

Frog Pond is also a game which has four positions for each player. With four players it would also fit a 4x4 grid.

PINCH IT The game is sold on the following website in Great Britain. There doesn't seem to be any real signifiance in 4x4 arrangement of men.

Sudoku Jr. Played on a 4x4 board (Major 2x2 grid divided into 2x2 regions) This is more of an individual puzzle than a game.

There are so many Bingo type games played on 4x4 card that I decided to list them here. the play may vary a bit from Bingo in that a caller may be common for all players. Other variations are:

* Players may take turns throwing a die for their card.
* Players may take turns calling for the whole group.

A couple of these games have a more mature theme, but are still basically Bingo games.

Others along this theme are:
Bingolino
Candyland Bingo
Cranium Bingo Bunch
Cranium Cadoo
Dice Keno (more adult theme)
Dog Dice
Groovy Girls Bingo
I Spy Bingo
Kitty Corners
Little Einsteins Blast Off Bingo
Loteria
Tic-Tac Fraction Slices

Bingo type games with a bit more...

Peg Poker More of adult. Has one board which players share. Poker dice used by each player to make hands to place in 4x4 grid.
