This is the 2007 version of the Thrift Find of the Week, where the weeks "best" thrift find is chosen, to be honored by all thrifting geeks.

Here's last year's list
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/13367

Criteria for selection include:
Uniquness of the find.
Coolness of the find.
Pure eBay value of the find.

If you disagree with the judges decision, please don't hesitate to add your comments, and they judges will arbitrarily make their decisions anyway...laugh

A tough first week for the judges, who have been sleeping on the job. Quite a bit of eBait on the lists this week, but a few quality finds. A $2 Winner's Circle! A $3 Risk 2210!! An incomplete Battle Cry!!!, (might as well start dissing the King from the first week of the year ). But irishalum1989 takes the first week's title with a great find of an AH classic, an eBait supreme find, and this great CDG that was a grail for many years.

Interesting week. After a pretty good first week, this week was disappointing. More quantity, less quality. Lots of the "usual suspects". Highlights include a couple of Kinmakers, a Sumo, and what should have been the winner a group find of Hotels (eBait) and Supremacy (eBait). Also a double find of Moods definately wins the eBait value award. But it's hard to beat the 171st ranked game on the Geek for pure awesomeness, and so this weeks winner is abb4life with his find of the venerable Wolfgang Kramer classic, Daytona 500.

Tough week, which was part of the delay in this week's award. The Boosinator gets shafted again on another Epic Duels fing. Richtoosoon's Settlers of the Stone Age was a strong contender, as was the find of Surrealist games, simply for uniqueness of the find. Irishalum's find of World In Flames was pretty sweet as well. But his find of the rare, highly rated Kramer/Ulrich brainburner takes the prize. Kudos to eviltimmy for calling the shot!

A brutally difficult week of the judges. Berserkley's find of hotels was taking the prize up until someone else found one as well. Irishalum's find of the Civil War, (which has won in past weeks), had to be invalidated for missing rules, and the fact that he can't win every single week...

So this week's prize goes to artfuldoge2 for his $10 pickup of Merchant of Venus, a game I personally hope to have in my collection someday...

After much deliberation, this week's prize goes to Berserkely, (who was just edged out last week), for his find of an AH Aquire. Standing in his way was a find of Shark, (though it looks like the older version), a find of Memoir '44, (which nearly took the prize), and a find of HeroScape by last week's winner Ken.

So forgive the tardiness in getting the votes tabulated. Perhaps the judges were feeling a bit Moody this week...

And an incredibly difficult week it was. Colonial Diplomacy was topping the list for a while in terms of pure eBait value, along with a might haul of old AH games, including the grail of Caesar: Alesia. E&T, (HiG version), nearly won the prize, with a nice find of Puerto Rico as well. But in the end, the judges were won over by shiny things, and so this week's prize goes to pete gray for his find of an unpunched, 1st edition, Robo Rally...

Not nearly as difficult a week this week thankfully. But I must say I'm getting darn tired of Timmy getting it right week after week. There was some discussion amongst the judges that this should not win, as it wasn't a thrift find, wasn't cheap, etc. But brwogg wins this week's award for this hard to find expansion, just slightly edging out mjrothjr's find of Turning Point: Stalingrad.

But gregandjan takes the weekly prize for the find of the SPI War of the Ring, which may suck as a game, but commands big-time prices. And can't have two Dark Tower's in three weeks. My word, what a tough week. So many terrific finds. Some highlights: Verrater, Black Spy, Dungeon Quest, Metropolis, Buffy, Civ, Daytona 500, World of Warcraft, Battle Cry, Talisman, Excaliber, UNO Hearts, Ursuppe, etc., ETC.!!!

Interesting to think about what kind of a collection this week's list would make, (taken in full), for someone with no games at all. A little heavy on the trash, and the wargames, but if this week's list were your starting games collection, you'd have a pretty solid start.

But the judges obviously have a penchant for nostalgia and Sid SAckson, so this week's winner goes to newboy1721 for his find of the Big City and Chinatown ancestor, Metropolis, just edging out Dungeon Quest for the top spot.

Another solid week of thrifting! Tikal was a strong front runner until about page three, when the landslide of Tikal's rolled in. Which Witch?, World in Flames and Clans got strong consideration from the voters, as did Fireball Island and Castle of Magic. But in the end it came down to Taj Mahal or this. And as Martha and the Vandellas sang:

"Summer's here, and the time is right, for rolling big colored dice and moving cars, in the street!"

Or something like that.

Another tough week, with 11 pages to wade through. Lots of Heroscapes out there, and a nice AH haul, a Titan, an Alea Ra, A Turning Point:Stalingrad, Snifty Snakes Jr...

If the judges weren't sick to death of Talisman, that'd be a strong showing as well, along with an AH Acquire, an old RoboRally and the like. But a former SdJ winner from Ron Wright takes this week's prize.
