By 1938, the Second Sino-Japanese war was not going well for the Chinese. Since July 7, 1937, the Japanese conquered huge swathes of Northern and Eastern China and were steadily pushing deeper into China. With the conquest of Shanghai, Beijing, and Nanjing in 1937, Jiang Jie Shi (Chang Kai Shek) had moved his headquarters to Wu Han. The Japanese seeing an opportunity struck to capture the impor-tant rail junction of Xuzhou endangering Wu Han and forcing a Chinese capitulation. On January 26, 1938, the Japanese launched their offensive towards Xuzhou and by the evening of March 24, 1938, the Japanese 10th division (with around 25,000 men and around 100 tanks and armored cars) had reached the Taierzhuang area. The stage was set what ended up being a massive battle for a small stoned town, which would exchange hands many times. It was the Samurai Stalingrad!

This small, but very competitive game on the first clash between the French-Piedmontese army and the Austrian one in May 1859 during the first phases of the campaign known as the Second Italian War for Independence, is an almost skirmish battle fought on the country roads and the fields near Voghera, on the road from Piedmont towards Milano.
The simple, but not simplistic rules integrate movement and combat, several readiness status for the various leaders and troops present on the field of battle, fire and melee rules, morale, territorial gains and so on.

12. Board Game: Task Force 421 (Iran-Iraq naval war, 1980) [Average Rating:6.75 Unranked]

designer
Avatar
mbmbmbmbmb
Task Force 421 is an attempted simulation of the most important combined naval and air battle of the Iran-Iraq War 1980-1988, named Operation Morvarid (pearl), in a tactical/operational level. This particular battle took place in two days, during 27 and 28 November 1980; initiated by Iran landing a small Special Forces demolition team aboard the Iraqi al-Bakr offshore platform. Al-Bakr was a significant intelligence gathering post, and a safe haven for the Iraqi missile boats, from which to operate against the Iranian shipping. Before the start of the war, over one-third of the Iraq’s oil was exported via al-Bakr and the nearby al-Omayeh platform.

Rome must conquer all of Scotland to win. The Caledonian tribes must work together, in part, to confront the mighty power of Rome, but should Rome be defeated, only one tribe can emmerge as the victor and warfare with the other tribes is a long tradition easily predating Rome's arrival in Britannia.

A quick and easy campaign game for the Crusades period in the Byzantine Empire,
including map, counters, and miniatures interface for our "Ironbow" rules.

In fact, the game is leader driven- good leaders get things done, while poor ones are a hinderance. Counters representing every troop type are here, including Turkish Ghulam heavy cavalry, Turkomen horse archers, light and heavy infantry, Byzantine Cataphracts, Norman and Varangian mercenaries, Petchenegs, everyone. It comes with a battle board so you don't have to stop the game for every battle if you don't want to, but the troops convert directly into "Ironbow" units for those of you who want to play miniatures.

“Au pont de Lodi” is a simulation of the May 10, 1796 battle, which opened the way to general Bonaparte’s triumph over the Austrian Lombardische Armée, leading his Italy’s army towards the seize of Milan.
