What are the most original or funniest starting player determination rules out there?

This list was inspired (and shamelessly plagiarized) by a recent thread on Spielfrieks and Eric Henyey's cool list: <A TARGET=BLANK HREF=http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=view&listid=2040)> http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist.php3?action=view&listi...;/A>

Grr.. my version, in addition to having the Rio Grande/Abacus omission of the card removal rules for 2-4 players, also doesn't indicate that the hungriest player should begin, merely that players should select a starting player.

Counters are small cardboard game pieces. They often represent the position of something on the game board. Wargames tend to use a lot of them to represent the positions of the military forces, but there are other things they can represent, too, and in other types of games.

That's right. You take some monster pieces, assemble a monster, then the player who looks the most like that monster goes first.

This is hilarious. I never knew there were all those different rules. In fact, I always think it's unusual when a game says that the youngest player goes first (which seems fairly common).

I like Carcassonne's variant, it's the most elegant:
Youngest player decides who goes first.
Nothing fancy or non-sensical, no difficult age questions you might have for oldest player goes first, and there is an element of chance.

Of course all this is only necessary if you don't have dice handy, and even the occasional Eurogame has dice, so it shouldn't be a problem...
