Formerly known as "Wacky and Bizzare Things I've Read on the Geek"

After a couple months of reading the Geek avidly, I realized that there are some really funny people on here. I began cutting and pasting comments and lines that were funny enough to make me laugh out loud. Here they are. There are many comments blasting terrible games, and some other more bizzare comments directed at various other games.

--Update--
Wow, this list got more feedback than I really expected, including people wanting to include their own additions. At first I wasn't planning to allow public additions, but people have left enough amusing comments that I've decided to open the list up. Enjoy! -Burke

Here we have two comments from the same person. Both were so ridiculous I couldn't decide between the two, so I included both.

"This is the most incomprehensible game I ever played. The rules were full of wierd Bionicle terms. A paragraph might read 'move your Fukioki into the Marto Fleemoid. If you Karbozoize the Actomimo then your Muzatoki will be Pebooized! Beware the Cruchies!' We tried to figure it out for about 2 hours and then literally threw it in the trash... that is a bad game!"

and...

"I've played many complicated and obtuse games but I couldn't make head nor tails of this thing. The rulebook sounded like this: 'Move your Kopaka through the Mandico doors and obtain a Whackoid. This will Cudokoize your Bramofart and you'll be the Fizzbaromiko! Beware of roaming Vormids as thier Kiko attack will counter your Piponoid!'"

Here's one of the best. So your reading a Geeklist (#416) on someone's best Thrift store finds, agonizing over their good fortune, when they have this entry:

"I found an original Eon Cosmic Encounter with all nine expansion sets (still sealed) for $2.78. On the way out of the thrift store I was marvelling over my new find rather than watching where I was going, and ran smack into CE designer Peter Olotka. He apologized for "his" carelessness, autographed the box for me, handed me a $500 bill to stave off any lawsuit, told me the secret hiding place of the Holy Grail, and then beamed back up to his recon orbiter. Then I woke up."

From the GeekList "Games that Stink" (nothing to do about the quality of the game... the list actually contains games that have a bad odor)

Here's Joe Gola talking about how to rid a game of its pungent fragrance...

"When a game acquires a truly unsupportable funk, the only remedy is to cover over the alien miasma with your own personal scent. You must carry the game around with you as much as possible, particularly when there will be opportunities to perspire. Tuck it under your arm when attending a baseball game in August. Nestle it under your shirt when you mow the lawn. Bring the game to bed with you. Make sweet love to it, if the mood is right. Soon the game will be redolent of your own proprietary fragrance.

If this does not work, you must open the box, pour a quart of bleach in, replace the lid, shake vigorously, and then put the game in the center of your driveway and run over it with your car. Rinse and repeat until the smell is gone."

Now one of my favorite posters, Joe Gola killed me with this addition to Fraser McHarg's already laughter-inducing list "Games in your collection with good Box Fart":

[Quote begins here]

Upon reading this list I realized that I Had to Find Out. I would never get to sleep if I didn't discover which of my games had the fartiest box. I knew right off the bat who the two prime suspects were: the new AH version of Acquire and El Grande. I was postive that I had heard some shocking eructations from one of those two boxes at one point or another.

At the risk of waking up my son with stentorian wind breakage, I got down on my hands and knees and crawled into my closet, where some of the larger games are kept. I reached El Grande first, grasped the lid, and gave it a metaphorical pull of the finger. Nothing! Not a peep. Then I remembered that it was Mexico and not Spain that was so pathologically fond of the frijoles. Too bad. If I just could have squeaked out a little toot I bet the castillo would have been a kick-ass echo chamber.

I shifted over a couple of feet and grabbed the Acquire box. Now we were going to hear a little trombone. I braced myself and gave it a good yank, expecting to confront every fart ever stilfed at a Wall Street business luncheon all rolled into one shameful honk. There was a discreet poot, nothing more. Huh?

Now I was really confused. I was positive that I had heard some raunchy box flatulence from somewhere in my collection, and I had to know who the culprit was. The old axiom of "he who smelt it, dealt it" was of no use here, as was its corollary, "he who denied it, supplied it." Without any kind of snappy rhyme to guide my way, I simply had to try every box. Kosmos big box: silent as the grave. Alea: just a graceful whish (too classy, probably does it after everyone's gone to bed). Mayfair: a little gassy, but nothing that would get you kicked out of a restaurant.

Suddenly I froze. No...it couldn't be. My hands trembled as I gently lifted my beloved Liberte out of its drawer. No, not you my precious. Certainly it wasn't you. Not my favorite game. I set it down on the bed and gingerly tried to lift the cover.

Oh man but that box ripped one off. It was like some kind of gastronomical gunshot rattling the windows and setting off car alarms down the block. As I stood there blinking in the last dying echoes I realized that my hat had been knocked off.

My wife poked her head in the door. "Crack a window if you're going to do that, honey."

Why oh why didn't I let well enough alone? Here I sit, broken hearted....

[Quote ends here]

I must have read that ten times now just for the laughs!

Plus, a humble quote from the esteemed author after we all showered him with praise:

I try to serve the community in any way I can. If that means I have to make a few fart jokes every now and then, then make fart jokes I shall.

Thanks Joe! laugh
