The trade table was a smashing success. Not counting games combined in lots, there were about 170-odd games on the table.
Each person entering any amount of games had ONE chance as being picked as the start player. After that, if your game was selected you got next pick (including if you selected your own game, withdrawing it).
The records are not unblemished, but this is how the chain progressed as near as I can tell. If there are corrections, please let me know. The record is a little spotty in places.
Please comment on your selections, thoughts on the choices or any corrections you find. Did you choke when it was your pick? Did you snag a real clunker? Did you get a steal?
I was very pleased with how the trade table worked out....and plan to run the event next year as well, if my services are needed/wanted. Thanks to everyone who participated.
You draw for a "first picker" but he doesn't get to keep the game. This game is given to the person whose game is picked LAST.
The person whose game is picked, then gets to pick first, and start the event as normal. A the end, the last game picked decides who gets the first game prize.
The only problem I see with the current system is that it encourages people to add a single very cheap game and nothing else, giving them an equal chance as anyone else to win the best game on the table. The variant I mentioned above doesn't do anythng to solve that however, and I had no impression that anyone was out to game the system anyway.
Even IF someone put in a crappy game and got the first pick, the rest of the traders aren't really harmed. Whoever had their game chosen first is going to get their pick of the table, and so on. No one really gets stuck with a crappy game in return for their good game. Incrementally, each pick, things balance out fine. Its just someone got really lucky with the first choice. And its usually Jorge and Eva.
