I am a regular gamer with my wife. Over the last 2 years since I got into boardgaming I have managed a collection of close to a 100 games. We have a ritual of playing a couple of games every night after we manage to coax our 2 children to bed early. Here are some of the multiplayer games in our collection that we seem to playing very regularly.

My personal No 1 game in this list. We play it so fast and finish a game in less than 20 minutes. The last 10 plays or so have been so close. The wife used to beat me quite regularly in the past, but I have managed to get my own these last several plays. Usually the scoreline is just 1 or 2 points difference. On atleast 3 occassions we have had the scores tied and the winner decided by the no of cards on hand. Twice we even tied with cards on hand!

This game is pretty decent with two players. I would probably like to play it with some more, but all I play it with is two players. Well worth it to get though for some kind of meaty fun.

I have never played this with more than 2. Each game is different. Of course my wife will not play it after dusk! So this more of a daytime game.

My wife loves this game. We even played it a couple times in the hospital waiting for our third kid to show up.

My wife and I love this game 2 player. So when another couple comes over, we're eager to show it to them, so we play 4 player.

Result: Boring game. With 4 players, you go through the deck and find victims faster, so Jack escapes in almost every hand. This means that the winner of each hand is the person lucky enough to draw "Ripper Escapes." Yawn.

So count yourself lucky to have played only 2 player! In fact, I don't think the game even belongs on this list, it is so much better 2p that I wouldn't call it a multiplayer game at all.

The first few plays did not make us get back to it foten. BUt after reading on the Geek that Alan Moon plays it regularly with his wife, I coaxed Aarthi back to it and since then we have had great great fun. Again games have been evry close but sometimes wins have been one sided also.

Recent success with original made me get the expansion and we love it. Ads just the amount of difference to the strategy and gameplay adn retains the excitement of the original. I still haven't got my strategies in place and lose more often.

I was like the resident champion for long, but I recently taught Aarthi the variant where you play with open cards. Since then she has managed to notch up some wins. Much more strategic with 2 players.

I would see this game as extrmely boring with 2. I play this with my 4 member board game group, and could not see it as fun with 2. Might be more strategic but seems like most of the time it's to see when someone covers up a space to pass them...and well yeah. I need encouraging to try this with 2, so if anyone vouches that it is really fun I will bust it out with 2 someday.

Another personal favorite. Always manages to find a play or two every month. I haven't got any of the expansions though and I have my eyes on The Tower for sometime now.

Now this is a good 2 player game. I play it a bunch, and it very competitive. Wonderful addition to the list.

If my wife picks a game for a two-player session, then she actually much prefers to play Carcassonne (which I keep loosing... cry ). She bought all its weird extensions, which I found much more interesting than the plain vanilla version of Carcassonne, although they considerably stretch the game length, allowing her to wallow in my defeat. We have played it quite often recently, and it works pretty well as a two player game (much more competitive).

We played a lot of 2 player bean duels. But my children have started playing it regularly with us and the 2 player plays have come down of late.

Another game that plays well with 2. The scoring becomes unpredictable especially as there are more cities to monopolise and get additional points.

A dedicated two-player game (which IMHO is best played with four players actually) with benefits from frequent replays. We own two copies and all extensions and play in tournament mode. Therefore, playing it against the same person again and again is interesting, since for each new game each player adjusts his tournament deck according to the previous game against that opponent. My wife does not win this very often, but she keeps trying... kiss
