This was also on the list for the Austro-Prussian War of 1866, but I've added it here in the hope that it might convince even more people to pre-order it.

A four player, card driven wargame dealing with the wars which led to the unifications of Italy and Germany. Sounds excellent.

Here's the link to the publisher:

But it does deal with the Risorigimento (or at least the latter part of it): one player takes the role of Sardinia and has to unify Italy. It seems to deserve a place on this list no less than two of the other games.

I suppose I should I given a longer description, but I assumed people would click on the link making anything I said redundant.

This one is an operational game on Garibaldi campaign over the Alps during the initial and central phases of the Third Italian War of Independence.

With a very peculiar chit drawing activation method and a combat system that stresses fatigue over real casualties, I obey is a fascinating study of this neglected campaign, with a see-saw motion of the counters over the splendid map and the chance for both sides to gain an unexpected victory.

Medium complexity, 2/3 hours playing time, both for competitive and solitaire play.

The game covers the 2nd Italian War of Independence.

The box contains two different games. One is a campaign game using a point to point map system. The other is a more traditional hex and chit system of combat and covers the major battles of Magenta and Solferino.

This game is clearly not a wargame but I think it has a place on this list because of its very particular topic....

This small, but very competitive game on the first clash between the French-Piedmontese army and the Austrian one in May 1859 during the first phases of the campaign known as the Second Italian War for Independence, is an almost skirmish battle fought on the country roads and the fields near Voghera, on the road from Piedmont towards Milano.

The "Seven Weeks War" of 1866 is also known as the Third Italian Independence War. The Italians want Venice. The Austrians have it.

Two scenarios - just the conclusive Battle of Lissa or the entire campaign, along with important random events, intrusions by the French and Turks, optional rules for ships and events that could have happened, and more.

The subject matter intrigues me, but given the mediocre ratings most Avalanche games get, their unwillingness to allow Cyberboard or Vassal modules to be made available for their games and the high price tag on this one, I will definitely be waitng for the reviews to come in on this one.

Too true. Everything about this game is right in my wheelhouse, except that it's an Avalanche product. I'm just so weary of them releasing unfinished, untested, error-riddled games that could be great but amount to nothing in the end.
