After visiting Switzerland for the second time last May, and with great help of Numa's list, here's another Rate&Add Game Stores List. Purpose: a guide to FLGS in Switzerland.

But I need help!

Please list any gamestore in Switzerland not already on this list and try to put in as many information as possible concerning adress, web and opening times.
Please rate the stores you've been to, what are they like, is it worth visiting, is it too expensive, etc. etc.

Great toy & game store in Basel. Been there 2 years ago, loved it. Still do. Friendly, good prices, good selection. But after Bern, pfff.. Still great though.

32000 items on a few square metres. Tons of toys, books, etc. I can hardly breathe in that store.

They do carry a few 'exotic' titles (FFG, Eggert and such) though.

That game store exists since 1973 and has changed its locations 3 times with the years.
I know the shop since the beginning, when it was at the famous shopping street "Freie Strasse".

Meanwhile the founders, Mimi and Hardy Loerer, have both died, but the shop is taken over by their children Nicole and Pascal, although they both never intended to do so...

During summer, they organize some "Flohmarkt" (fleemarket) Saturdays, where you can find some very old games still in shrink (I remember that they had some International Team and Perlhuhn relics a few years ago).

wow The best shop I've seen! Great, great selection! Prices are not bad. You'll find games there you won't find in normal FLGS. If I hadn't bought that many games already I would have come home with Roads&Boats, Royal Turf and Indonesia as well...

I'll second that -- a truly wonderful shop, with a great assortment of Euros & some rares/OOP/prototypes.

WOOF!

My only regret is that luggage space prevented me from buying more.

The shop sells mainly miniature games, CCGs and imported games. Not too much selection of Euro games but a rather good variety of wargames and (sorry for the use of term) ameritrash games. Friendly personnel which seems to know a bit about the games they are selling. The prices are generally higher then on-line, but not excessive. I would buy there anytime again.

I was there today and now there's even less room to get around than when I last visited! It is very cramped (I'm frankly surprised they don't get cited for being a fire/safety hazard!) and the game selection seemed, well, a bit on the low side. I'll try to get back again next week and make a fuller report.

Everyone should go to this store once. I found a few copies of Schnaeppchen Jagd and Showmanager when both were out of print. There are no newer games.

More than the hope of finding anything, it is 5 minutes from the train station and is an amazing maze of all sorts of things - trains, cars, games, minis, etc. If you want a vintage 1977 Starwars Toothbrush holder, you might find it here, if it exists. If a store were to represent a brain, this store might be the brain of a many a non-OCD hobbyist.

If this is the place I think it is, it has a lower second level -- sure looks like it from the site's pictures.

I remember thinking that prices were higher than I excpected, but I also do not profess to be that in touch with European pricing. In any case, they had a respectable selection of popular Euros, with maybe a rare title or two.

Seemed to be more of a toy store than game store. Still, they actually had more & better games than some game stores have over here -- and great toys, too.

My favorite Game Shop in Zurich. Focuses on Board and Cardgames. Good choice, even some OOPs, but no Miniatures. Fair prices for a FLGS. Friendly and competent. Has an open game night once a month.

I was planning to take a tour of all of the FLGSs near central Zurich. Unfortunately, time only permitted me to visit one, so I picked Bitli's. It's situated on the north end of Langstrasse in Zurich.

The shop is pretty much one room, maybe 30 by 30 feet square. There are 2 glass tables in the middle with some 2 player Kosmos games, and all of the items for sale run along the walls. The shopkeeper (who spoke English) just came back from Essen 08, and there's not sufficient room to display everything, so there were several stacks of games around the room. I accidentally toppled one of these over, but he was cool with it. There's even a windowed place in the back of the room where one can take a smoke break.

It took me an hour of several laps around the store to settle on Perry Rhodan: The Cosmic League, Ubongo: Duel, a dusty copy of Kontor, and one of possibly 2 copies of Cavum, paid with Visa. Prices are very MSRPish - Kontor was vaguely on the list from memory, and I couldn't wait on Cavum. The other 2 are hard to find in the States.

I also saw the new Titan (1), Keltis (lots), Ghost Stories (lots), Heads of State (2), Der Hexer Von Salem (lots), among others.

The room is fairly packed, with a majority of games stacked under tables. Good density, given the space.

Went back here last night. Essen 08 stacks there, but reduced somewhat. Saw Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition, 1 or 2 copies of Titan (Valley), and 2 copies of PitchCar, 1 copy of Auf Achse,

Was looking for Wasabi! and Snow Tails specifically, but ended up getting their international edition of The Name of the Rose. Store owner friendly as before.

Greatly situated in the old town of Zurich. Great selection of boardgames also imported ones. However it is on the expensive side. Sells also stuff for jugglers or hobby magicians. Has Miniatures as well. Not all clerks are that friendly.

Half of the store is board and cardgames, CCGs and puzzles and the other half is stuff for RPGs. Shop owner is cooperative. Game selection is mixed: Sometimes there is basic stuff missing but sometimes you find a long oop gem. Prices are rather on the higher side.

Exceptionally friendly staff. Truly excellent selection of board and card games considering the store is located in a small town. Games night at the store every Thursday, and additionally one Saturday per month.

OK, that's *gotta* be it -- Thun seems too small a town to support more than one game store, right?

Now that you mention, I seem to recall seeing something about the Thursday night gaming.

Too bad I was there about 9p on a Wednesday.

Remember that games in Switzerland are very expensive, esp. relative to the online stores in the US. There is no need to check them out for good deals on things you can get at home. Small-box games and expansions can run 35-45 SFr, which is about $35-45.

Rallyman was 90 SFr., for example.

If you are looking for an oddity, they are great. For example, Tilsit games (Himalaya & exp.), older Cocktail games, The version of Mow with people and farts (PRRRRT, or something like that).
