Please note - I have removed all old placeholders from this list. Please only use this list to record the receipt of games actually received from your Santa.

Only use placeholders to let your Santa know you received your package but are waiting to open it. When you actually open the package, please update the entry with the game(s) you received and express your reaction for your Santa. Please let me know if you experience any problems with this via GeekMail. Sorry for any confusion...now on to the list:

Since we just got our Secret Santa Targets assigned --

Last year's episode of "Look what my Secret Santa sent me..." was well received, so I am creating the same list again for 2007.

I originally posted this as a way to let my Santa know when I receive my gift without him/her worrying about letting me know who (s)he is. Use this as a central area to record what our Secret Santas sent us. If you plan on using this list, you may want to make a note on your profile so your Secret Santa knows to look on the list for your receipt and reaction.

That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be divulged!

If your Santa sends you more than one item, just list them all in one listing unless you think it makes more sense to list them separately. Remember to include any comments you want your Secret Santa to know!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

(I am just using a generic Christmas first item as a placeholder for mine until my gift arrives, at which time I will update it with the real gift). In case you were wondering - yes, I do have a probably unfounded fondness for this holiday.

Now for the big question - do you open the gift or allow it to taunt you from under the tree until your local Christmas/Holiday gift opening?

Dear Santa

Wowww its arrived, didn't expect it yet!

A box was delivered to a neighbour as I was out (so I missed your reindeer!) but I just went and retrieved it from them.

30 seconds later and my wife took it off me and said I have to wait till Xmas before I can open it gulp

She has just inspected it and informed me that it has arrived in perfect condition (but can't get any other info out of her, is it a board or a card game? she won't say, just smiles, damn it, the waiting will kill me).

I'm lost for words, don't know what's inside yet but I'm sure I'll love it.

Santa you're great, I will edit this post as soon as I can after Xmas with what game it is.

I have no hint as to who you are (most likely US based so it probably cost you an arm and a leg to post to me in the UK). Will you give a clue to your identity so that I can track you down and thank you personally?

Anyway, I hope you and your family have a great Xmas and NY.

Kind regards
AB

Update:
Opened present on Xmas day. My wife had wrapped them BOTH up, was so thrilled to get two presents. The first one I opened was Thebes which I was delighted with, so happy you were able to get this one for me (I played a 3 player game with my wife and mum on Xmas day - we all really enjoyed it even though my wife just beat me to victory).

The second present I opened was Alhambra

It was great to get something so unexpected as this, I know it was on my wishlist somewhere but I know next to nothing about this game other than it is pretty highly rated. So at the moment I'm thoroughly enjoying reading up on the rules before I play my first game with my wife later, it looks great fun, can't wait to give it a try. So yet another BIG THANK YOU to my secret santa for the very generous gifts (on top of the international shipping).

Christmas in November! Thank you Santa! I've been craving this for the past 6 months and now let the feast begin! My Santa hinted that this is a favorite at the workshop; I wish he lived closer, I don't get to play this nearly enough.

On a side note, my wife thought I had surreptitiously sent myself a present and to further mask my tracks, sent myself a message pretending to be Santa. (Disclaimer: normally, we don't have trust issues, this just occurs around boardgames).

Thanks again Santa, you rock!

Woo hoo!! Thank you, Santa! I have been SOOO tempted to add this to a game order even knowing that it was on my Santa wishlist. I resisted, though, and you came through for me! Mmmm... new card smell...

As an added bonus, I also got the expansion power plant deck for Power Grid, so I'll have to get Power Grid back to the table soon.

Thanks again, Santa!

One of Santa's helpers over at Funagain Games just contacted me to let me know that my Secret Santa present is ready for me. Since Funagain is a mere 20 minutes away from my house they thought I might like to save Santa the shipping cost and pick it up myself. Of COURSE I'm happy to do that. Can't wait to go get it and see what it is.

I'll report later on what it is, but for now, thanks Secret Santa and thanks to Nick at Funagain for contacting me.

Wait.....Nick at Funagain??!!! Nick? Like....St. Nick? OMG OMG OMG!!!

----------------
The Follow-Up:

Wow, what a long day at work. Still, I made it over to Funagain and received my presentS. (Yes, multiple presents!)

Here is what my very kind Secret Santa got for me:

Power Grid: Benelux/Central Europe

and

Power Grid: France/Italy

AND (Yes, three things!)

Fiji

Thank you so much Secret Santa! Nick turns out not to have been a fat man in a red suit. Though I will categorize him as a jolly, young elf. At least for me at Christmas time. He had no hints for me about the identity of my Secret Santa, so unless he chooses to reveal himself he will remain a mystery to me. Another wonderful Secret Santa experience.

I got my parcel notice and assumed that the new part for my broken coffee maker had finally arrived. When I saw the box, I excitedly realized that my Secret Santa has had his elves busy!

My three kids helped break down my thin reserve of self-discipline and we tore the box open to find two nicely wrapped packages. Package one contained Shogun, a game I've been wanting since playing Wallenstein years ago. Package two was not quite the typical game shape - too thin to contain bits....but big enough to contain an expansion board for power grid - I now have Benelux/Central Europe.

A big thanks to my Secret Santa for a great package! And the fun continutes...now I get to wait and see the response of my target!

It´s christmas and after waiting a long time (it´s hard when two big parcels sitting on the top of your gaming closet and don´t stopp taunting you) i finally get to open the packages. And what a surprise, my guesses where totally off (i thought Santa sent me Notre Dame and Pillars of the Earth seemed the right size) - what a surprise i got RA - Whoo! A really hard to get game here in Germany which i sought after for a long time. THANKS SANTA that was a great surprise for me! I´m looking forward playing it.
But that was not all, a second even larger present was waiting for me. And it was Bausack - i was stunned - two really great games - i must have been nice this year - not that i can remember much of it devil

I´m really greatful for the great presents i recieved - where ever you are my santa - thanks a lot - have a great holiday and a good start for 2008. My your dice always come up right and your tiledraws be perfect.

Thanks

Hey Santa!

The package arrived, so I must have been good. Unfortunately for me, the package is in Milwaukee and I am in Cincinnati today, so my wife had to open it for me. I'm going to try to hold out until Christmas, but the ANTICIPATION may drive me crazy. It will at least have to wait until I return home tomorrow night.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

EDITED 11/30/07
Alright. My wife convinced my that I was crazy for not opening my box, so I did, with very little urging, and was delighted to see Thurn & Taxis and Carcassone!

Thanks Santa! I can't wait to play them.

Merry Christmas and I wish you the best for you and your family!

My package arrived today! Santa had warned me that the postman might "kill [me] with a forklift" and he wasn't kidding. The poor little Chinese lady at the postal outlet couldn't lift it -- she actually dragged the box to the counter and made me get it (luckily I'm stronger than a little Chinese lady and could carry it home).

Egged on by my girlfriend, I decided not to wait and opened the box -- only to find three (!) gift-wrapped packages inside: one small, one medium, and one very large! There was also a nice card saying these gifts were from my BGG Secret Santa and Starlit Citadel (in BC). I suppose this is a clue, so I will be chasing that lead soon enough.

Since the packages are so nicely wrapped, I have decided to wait until the proper day, although it pains me more than a little to do so.

You see, the very large box has a kind of "twilightish" heft to it (and the shipping box actually has "Fantasy Flight Games/Twilight Imperium Third Edition" printed on the outside), so I might just be getting a certain space conquest game that has been on my Wishlist for a while now.

As for the other prezzies, I haven't a clue. I'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks, Secret Santa. You've made me very happy!

Addendum: There is a user called "starlitcitadel" (real name = TR Wong), but this person has no collection and, more importantly, no Secret Santa microbadge. Perhaps the store is not a clue? Argh! Secret Santa is slipperier than black ice on a Canadian highway!!

Addendum 2: I believe I have finally been given clues that have allowed me to figure out who my SS is; to celebrate, I have opened the largest box (with permission from SS and GF) -- lo and behold, Twilight Imperium (Third Edition)! Now my fingers hurt from taking 300 plastic starships off their sprues, but dang, it's a good hurt to have! Thank you, Santa!!

Perhaps once I get confirmation, I will allow myself to open another one.

Addendum 3: I was right! My Secret Santa was ninjapirateassassin. The 4th guess was the charm.

He deserves praise for being slippery and generous! Case in point, I opened the medium-sized present and it was The Red Dragon Inn, which I haven't seen before but seems like it's right up my alley.

This leaves the small present, which I will save until Xmas or until I feel like opening it...

devil

THANK YOU!

Addendum 4: I opened the small package and was surprised to find the latest expansion for the core Munchkingame. Now I have them all! Thanks, Santa!

A box showed up at my door today. Prudence would have suggested I wait until Christmas to open it. Fortunately she wasn't around at the time. My sons were eager to open the "pagick" (an early mispronunciation of "package" that we've playfully kept alive), so we dove right in.

I am astounded by the generosity of my Secret Santa.

This game alone would have been a huge hit, as it is one of the last Spiel des Jahres-winners that have eluded my grasp thus far. After a few rounds of Stratego: Transformers and Battleship, we settled down to play Enchanted Forest and loved it.

Thank you, Santa. But wait! That's not all that was in the box...

  Oltre Mare

...this was in there, too! This game has been rated well by my GeekBuddy jmilum, whose opinion I value greatly. It has been on my wishlist for a while, but is not something that I would have picked up right away. In other words, a perfect Secret Santa gift!

And yet, the box was still heavy...

         Taluva

...with a copy of Taluva! This title has been steadily rising on my radar. A combination of Java and Attika, that also looks fantastic? This game is the happiest surprise of the three!

Thank you Santa, for these wonderful gifts. It appears that folks are replying to the messages that they have received from you. I have done so as well: you might want to check your inbox. Otherwise, I am updating this message instead of posting anew each time.

Happy holidays, everyone!

Wow. I'm speechless and very grateful.

My wife just called from home to say a package arrived. She opened it and found a very generous gift(s) from Santa.

At first she wouldn't tell me, but the excitement welled up within me and I asked her to please give me a hint, so that I could return to work with a clear mind. I read her my wishlist, and she said, "Two from that list and another one." Yikes!!

I hung up. I tried to continue my research. I couldn't. I called her up and begged her tell me what they were. (I'm very impatient).

First, a great game that I haven't played, but my wife has. She really liked it and thought it was a brain burner. I added it to my wishlist.
Mystery of the Abbey

Second, a great sounding game (from what I've read). I don't have Puerto Rico or Caylus, two games it has been compared to. I like the theme of building, economics, trading, etc. Plus passing laws sounds cool, too.
Cuba

And finally, because my SS rocks! an additional game, I haven't considered, but it looks perfect for my wife and I, plus will travel well, when I visit my family in Reno this Christmas:
Coloretto

My Secret Santa will be known in my household from this day forward as, "The Generous One." We will offer sacrifices to the gods of BGG in his honor. We will sing songs and recite poems of his generosity and Christmas spirit throughout the generations! He (or she) will be a legend among men and his (or her) traits will be emulated!

Thank you!!

HHHHHHoooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Got a parcel from Britain today. I ripped it open as I expected it to be a game I have traded recently on BGG - guess what - it was gift-wrapped

oh the anticipation - nobody was a t home I could sneak peak at the game... (after all I had to do something against my disappoinment that it was not the traded game I was waiting for)

AND even better: The game was sent off on the day I had my 40th birthday (24.11.)

THE BEST STILL TO COME:

It is Twilight Struggle - a game I always wanted to buy and a "love to have "on my wishlist!!!

Thanks ever so much, my Secret Santa!!!!!!! This is a real joy!

(and sorry for not waiting till chrsitmas, I guess my wifer will have me re-wrap and put it under the Christmas tree - there it is again, the pain...)

I quite happily drop you a personal line saying thank you, if you sent me a personal message and disclose yourself.Twilight StruggleTwilight StruggleTwilight Struggle

Oh my. Santa, you are the Santa-iest Santa to ever have Santa'd.

So, I get an IM from my fiancee yesterday afternoon saying that my Secret Santa gift had come from Games Surplus (she knew this because of the nice note taped to the front 'from your BGG Secret Santa' or some such), and that it was a big box!

Ooooh, was she right. Inside I find *4*, count them, *4* games I've been craving! Winner's Circle, Aquadukt, O Zoo le Mio, and the Settler's 5-6 player expansion.

Thank you sooo much Santy! You have no idea how happy this made me

Wow. Thank you, Secret Santa. I got a message last night from across the pond -- obviously Santa spends time in Scotland before heading toward the North Pole for the Christmas rush -- that there was a box waiting for me.

When I got home, my wife gave me the look, and while most of the time I'm guilty of the it-was-on-sale-and-I-couldn't-resist, when I saw the Funagain box, I knew I was off the hook.

The kids were excited too, (they know that sooner or later they get to play the new games that dad gets), but I waited for them to be in bed before I opened the box.

Uh, yes. I caved. It's not even close to Christmas. It's not even December. Call me weak.

But, anyway -- I'm glad the kids were in bed. Not only did I get AoE III, which is something I really was interested in trying, but buried under a pile of Styrofoam peanuts was also...

...which is a game I've wanted for the kids for a very long time, but since I usually shop elsewhere than Funagain, I had a hard time justifying paying the shipping just for one game.

AoE III might see the table before Christmas if I can get some people over to play it, but King of the Beasts is getting re-wrapped and put under the tree for the kids, and I'm putting you on the "From" tag, Secret Santa.

Thanks again, Secret Santa! You're more than generous, and your little elves did a fantastic job in helping you pick the games!
