Please note - I have removed all old placeholders from this list. Please only use this list to record the receipt of games actually received from your Santa.

Only use placeholders to let your Santa know you received your package but are waiting to open it. When you actually open the package, please update the entry with the game(s) you received and express your reaction for your Santa. Please let me know if you experience any problems with this via GeekMail. Sorry for any confusion...now on to the list:

Since we just got our Secret Santa Targets assigned --

Last year's episode of "Look what my Secret Santa sent me..." was well received, so I am creating the same list again for 2007.

I originally posted this as a way to let my Santa know when I receive my gift without him/her worrying about letting me know who (s)he is. Use this as a central area to record what our Secret Santas sent us. If you plan on using this list, you may want to make a note on your profile so your Secret Santa knows to look on the list for your receipt and reaction.

That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be divulged!

If your Santa sends you more than one item, just list them all in one listing unless you think it makes more sense to list them separately. Remember to include any comments you want your Secret Santa to know!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

(I am just using a generic Christmas first item as a placeholder for mine until my gift arrives, at which time I will update it with the real gift). In case you were wondering - yes, I do have a probably unfounded fondness for this holiday.

Now for the big question - do you open the gift or allow it to taunt you from under the tree until your local Christmas/Holiday gift opening?

A lovely large package appeared on the somewhat damp Post doorstep today! The lovely Mrs Ronnie held me at bay with a set of caltrop-studded sandbags while she checked to see if the contents were wrapped (dang, I love a dangerous gal - you should see her with nunchucks!). They were, so I was allowed to view the beautifully wrapped silvery packages of delight my Secret Santa was so kind as to send my way!

I was not however, allowed to open them - but there are no less than three, and Mrs Ronnie wanted me to make sure to say that they will be the first thing under the Christmas tree, which I'll be procuring immediately after digging a new drainage field in the back yard (insert joke about hell freezing over and Seattle flooding here). yuk

Hmm.. I'm a bit low on HE - anyone got any other ideas on making trench-digging go faster? Incendiaries are lovely, but perhaps less than practical.. Hey, even Evil Geniuses like a pretty Christmas tree!

Thank you VERY much Santa - your generosity is over the top and your timing is impeccable! It was a much-appreciated pickmeup to receive your gifts!

--------------

ETA: Ho, Ho, Ho - Merry Christmas!

Santa was very good to me (*boggle* Does he get his Intel through Blackwater? Maybe we've all misunderstood the old "he knows when you've been naughty" thing...?)

To my families' amusement, I saved my Secret Santa presents for last. Imagine my delight to unwrap not only Arkham Horror, but the King in Yellow expansion (*delicious chill*)!

AND. Not only that - but also one of the other games longest on my wishlist: Samurai!

Ah, such gaming goodness! What a great way to wrap up Christmas.

Thank you Secret Santa - thank you very much & a VERY merry Christmas to you, sir! I am in your debt!

Updtae, my good Christmas Elf, Updtae!

What we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, a gaming machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this gamer does is sleep and eat and place little meeples, and that's all.

Hear ye! Hear ye! Santa is awesome, says I!
“we know he is,” you ask, “but why?”

Well, I’ve been reading all these posts talking about his generosity,
But I never suspected I’d be lucky enough to have that extend to me.

Sure I took the time to play games with my niece,
Though I did attack her after we’d declared peace.

I started a game group at work so we could share friendship and mirth,
Unfortunately the endless supply of Bugles and M&Ms expanded my girth.

I explained all the rules and tried to keep the games moving without ‘laying down the law’,
But I did miss a few crucial points including one that created Cheating Johnny Chainsaw.

All in all I tried to be good this year,
But santa KNOWS, so I lived in fear.

Yesterday on my doorstep what did I receive?
A big brown box full of packing peanuts and santa’s reprieve!

I was happy to give a few games but for me I didn’t want anyone to make a fuss,
But my secret santa wouldn’t have that and nor would Games Surplus.

Determined to keep the contents a surprise until the big day,
I took out a knife and opened the box right away.

Shoot! I can’t believe I opened the box, I meant to wait!
Um, the tape was loose on the package, yeah it must’ve been fate.

I fold back the flaps and Oh WOW Santa got me a kitty!
No wait, he just jumped in there, but he’s sitting on BLUE MOON CITY!

I can’t wait to rebuild the town with houses, walls and maybe a presidio,
I’ve been anxious to play this game since Boardgames with Scott’s great video.

But there was more! Something I certainly appreciate but don’t condone,
There was also the Inns and Cathedrals expansion for Carcassonne!

It’s perfect timing to receive this jewel,
I’ve just introduced my gaming group to the wonder of the meeple.

This game's a classic for a reason and I’ve enjoyed it for awhile,
Finally getting this long-eyed add-on makes me smile.

So for sending me some joy this year oh Secret Santa,
I tip my hat and raise a glass of refreshing Fanta!

On the 24th day of Christmas my Secret Santa "his Highness, the August and fearsome, the crown prince of Nigeria, who mere mortals Tremble in fear before, Prince Abakaliki" sent to me a symbol of his gratitude. While it is not the "40% share of the USD $50,000,000 that we agreed upon", to quite his royal Highness, the shipment was significantly more generous than even I had anticipated. Imagine my shock and surprise when I opened the package to find not one, not two but FOUR shimmering golden wrapped packages. Imagine when my glee when I, significantly lacking in patience, tore open the package to see
Seeing this wonderful token of gratitude for supplying him with my bank account number I wondered what the other three boxes could be. Patience is not a virtue that I possess, and so I went on to discover that

as well as
and

were also part of the show of gratitude. I still have not been able to process the exceeding generosity of his Highness, the August and fearsome, the crown prince of Nigeria, who mere mortals Tremble in fear before, Prince Abakaliki.

I opened up my gift Christmas morning to find a copy of Pillars of the Earth. I've played it a couple of times on BSW. I've been meaning to pick up a copy and trying it out with my playgroup. I think it'll go over fairly well.

But not only that. My SS also included a copy of Succession: Intrigue in the Royal Court. I wonder if he knew I was a big fan of Negotiation games or if he/she just got lucky.

Fed-Ex dropped off a box today from Boards & Bits. I didn't remember ordering anything from them, but I opened it anyway. Inside was a nicely wrapped (in gold foily paper) box that makes a nice plastic piece noise when shaken.

I don't know what the game is based on the size, but it is under the tree awaiting Christmas morning!

Thank you Santa! (Though I think Fed-Ex has some odd information... The phone number printed on the address label above my name isn't my number... Someone in the 317 area code. Maybe I'll call it one day to see who answers... Bwa ha ha ha ha!!!! devil )

UPDATE: I opened the package last night to find a copy of Torres and a pack of "Start Player" cards! Thank you Santa! I hope your Christmas went as well as mine did!

When I came home for dinner last night, I found a large box from Boards & Bits on the front step. As I'd been paying attention, I knew I could safely open the box, because the gifts inside would be wrapped .

I wasted no time in opening the box, to find two gifts nicely wrapped in gold paper. One fairly large (Puerto Rico sized), and one flat and about 30cm square. Feeling all warm and fuzzy inside that my Secret Santa had been so generous, I placed the gifts under the tree.

Turning back to the box, I started assessing whether it was the appropriate size to send the gift to my target (it's going out this week -- really!). As I looked inside, I noticed that the box seemed to be shallower inside than out. Fishing through the packing peanuts, I found a piece of cardboard inside. I lifted it out and discovered two more wrapped packages (both Carcassonne sized).

Wow, what a generous Santa I have. Thank you very much. I have absolutely no idea who you are, as you haven't given me much to go on. My only guess is that you may be from Europe and taking advantage of the exchange rate .

Now, for the amusement of my Santa and anyone else who cares, I will attempt to guess the contents of these packages. Keep in mind that I'm going only by the size, shape, weight, and rattliness of the packages, and I don't have a whole lot of knowledge about the characteristics of the games I'm guessing. I'm probably way off.

For the largest box, I think Ra comes in the same size box as Puerto Rico, which would be wonderful. But since On the Underground tops my wishlist, I'm going with that as my official guess.

The flat square box seems about the right size to hold a game board and a few cards, making Ticket to Ride: Switzerland a likely guess.

Of the two Carc sized boxes, one is fairly heavy and tightly packed, while the other is pretty light and rattles quite a bit. I'm guessing the first is Carcassonne: Hunters and Gatherers and the second is Carcassonne: Inns & Cathedrals.

We'll have to wait until Christmas to find out for sure. If these are indeed the games I find, I will be more than happy. There are many other possibilities, but I can't imagine any that would fail to make this a Merry Christmas.

Thanks again, Santa!

Thanks Secret Santa, I have my package nice and early....

So far I have resisted an almost overwhelming urge to open it on 2 separate occasions. Whether I can make it to December 25th is questionable. Reading the label tells me who it is from, where it is from and that there are 2 games inside. The box is fairly small so I am guessing at 2 card games. I've also resisted the urge to check back on my wishlist and see what smallish games I have on there. What willpower!

Update:
Finally got a spare minute to open the surprise package after the invading in-laws eventually left...
Thanks Santa! Got Boomtown and Saboteur, both "Must Haves" on my wishlist!

A card awaited my return from work.
"Please collect a parcel from your local Post Office. It requires a signature. Allow 24 hours before collecting."
Three hours was all I could wait.
Went to Post Office.
It was there.
From Shire Games.
In Christmas gift wrap, with "From your BGG Secret Santa" on it.
I will resist the temptation.
I will.
Why oh why oh why doesn't BGG list the dimensions of game boxes?

A big thank you to my very secret Santa. Hope you have a cool Yule.

Aha! It's off to the deep south tomorrow, so I cracked open the parcel to find The Downfall of Pompeii. Now I can't wait to get home after Christmas to try it out.

Thanks again SS.

I've come to the conclusion that my Secret Santa has officially Lost The Plot. Either that or I drew a generous millionaire...

I reached home today after work to find a Big Box waiting for me. Seriously Big. 18" x 14" x 7", and according to the declaration weighing 7 lbs... this was sent AIRMAIL from the US! The declaration also stated the value of the contents, which I won't reveal in case the men with white coats that fasten up the back try and find my Secret Santa wowwowwow

So far I haven't opened it (I pried it open far enough to determine the contents are, by touch, shrinkwrapped, not giftwrapped, and so I can't safely open the box without finding out what it is). I may have to, though, as my FLGS is holding a few of the most likely suspects until I know which I can safely buy!

EDIT: It rattles a bit - sounds like wooden blocks! Nothing on my wishlist is this big in one box, must be at least two...

BIG EDIT: OK, so, I broke down and opened the box... partly because my FLGS owner wanted to know what I WASN'T going to spend my money on in his shop...

In there was, indeed Crusader Rex. A pretty mighty present on it's own! But there was, as I suspected, more... and a slight hitch...

Santa was, it seems, a little careless checking my wishlist. blush In there is Order of the Stick Adventure Game: The Linear Guild - the expansion, not out yet, and delayed until next year. But Santa, in his incredible enthusiasm, had sent Order of the Stick Adventure Game: The Dungeon of Dorukan, the original game - which I already own!

Never mind though, barely skipping a beat, I arranged a trade via my FLGS, value for value. And so, Santa has provided me with...

Yes, it's the naughty version - apparently my FLGS wasn't even offered a choice, so I guess this is the only version the importer figured would sell!

And it's not over yet! Santa went completely berserk, and included...

- and believe it or not, this was the best of the lot! I've been hunting for a dice tower for ages, it appears they don't exist in the UK! It's already my favourite game, just rolling dice through it... only trouble is, being made of transparent plastic, I'd better keep my collection of metal dice away from it! blush

And so, all this, and airmail from the US - truly a magnificent Secret Santa. Well, not so secret - Santa included a message with the gifts

You are one of the world's good guys, Santa. One of the best.

Well, a heavy box arrived today addressed to moi, and even though I was warned that the box was ticking, I am so so sooooo tempted to take a peak! The evilness is that I know there is a chance that it is wrapped inside... but then you never know. Oh the trauma at the Ogdred Weary household! Should I shake it? Microwave it? Run it in the dry cycle?

I will try and be good....

Update:

BOOM! An explosion of meeples!

My Secret Santa was most generous and thoughtful. For that I am most thankful. He/She delved not just into my Wishlist but into my Wantlist as well.

Two games arrived, and both have been on my radar for ages. The first game, Vikings looks fantastic. It is already punched and ready to play. (Talk about eager)

The second game I played and enjoyed immediately some time ago, but for some reason or another I never got a copy for myself. I really like Gheos so I am very happy to finally have it in my collection!

Thanks so much for the wonderful gifts! Happy Holidays!

Hey, Santa, your package arrived safe and sound this morning. I think Swiss customs deported the elves though - expect them home soon.

I may open it tomorrow (my S.O. is German and Santa comes on the 6th for them) or I may wait until Christmas time. Either way, I'll post back here once it has been opened.

Thanks very much and I hope you have a great Christmas.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, since Santa showed up for my S.O., but not for me (third year running, not that I'm counting ) last night, I was allowed to open my Secret Santa present this morning by way of compensation.

To my, most pleasant, surprise it was not one game but two:

Colosseum
My most wanted game - fantastic! I still couldn't help but laugh when I saw the little Emperor and Consul figures this morning - they just crack me up. Thank you so very much.

Modern Art
I'm dumbstruck! I really wanted this game, but finding it over here was proving tricky to say the least. You have really made my Christmas with this one!

Both will be getting their first play this weekend.

Merry Christmas!

It's here! I'm visiting my parents, and I've got a package waiting for me with two smaller packages inside. One large silver-wrapped box (with card), and one smaller red-wrapped box.

Now ... do I open these devil, or do I wait kiss? For now, I think I can wait. Who knows in a few days, though ... ninja

EDIT-- I was a good boy and waited until Christmas morning to open my Secret Santa gifts. I opened the small box first and out sprung styrofoam peanuts, a bag of small dice and glass beads, Dungeoneer: Tomb of the Lich Lord and to increase the cool factor of the game, six little D&D minis for marching around the dungeon! Sa-weet!

Now for the big box. You know, I had a hunch about two or three weeks ago which game I would receive, and amazingly I was right! I never would have expected it, but my very generous Santa gave me Caylus! So excited! Brain burn and multiple routes to victory! Castle building and trillions of bits! I haven't opened it, but hopefully I can cajole my family into playing this one with me tonight.

Thank you very much Santa! I feel very lucky to receive two games and added extras; you went far and above the call of the North Pole! (Though, I didn't know you had a regional office in Colorado! Or maybe you're in the witness protection program. Whoops, blew your cover. Sorry! blush )

My wife called me late this morning and said a package had come from Santa's elves in brown, and I could just not resist, and had to have her open it for me.
Goblins!
But not just these Goblins, but also:
these Goblins - more of the awesome! But not only Goblins, but also
Munchkins!

Thanks to my very generous Santa for such great gifts. Much fun will be had around the household with these! Merry Christmas!

This really has become more of an "early" Secret Santa event these days, but I'm just as weak as anyone as far as opening these presents as soon as I get them (and after Boards & Bits went through all the trouble of wrapping them!). My excuse is that I want to avoid duplication when I go to the mall next week to tell the "real" Santa what I want for Xmas.

This appears to be a pretty cool cathedral building game. We love Caylus and this looks like it will just as much fun in half the playing time.

And that wasn't all!!! (My Secret Santa must have been on vacation during certain times of the year because otherwise he/she wouldn't have been so nice to me.)

Also included:

which is perfect since we love all things Settlers in our household. We never could find a suitable 2-player variant for the vanilla Settlers, so the card game fits those needs. And the expansions add a lot more "sass" to our "parilla" (obscure "Amazon Women on the Moon" reference).

And furthermore:

I almost missed it, but hidden amongst the shipping peanuts was another smaller package with

which is fantastic because I was only vaguely aware that they existed. Another cool wrinkle in the Settlers universe. We have to try it with out 10th Anniversay set to see how that plays out.

All in all, a very happy early Christmas in Ice X Land!!! Thank you Secret Santa. My very best to you & yours!!!!!!!!

My first Secret Santa "party" and I am thrilled!! (Although my Secret Santa does want to rehab me for my "root beer addiction". Next thing, he or she will want me to see a shrink about my WWI Flying Ace delusions.)

To begin with I got this excellent two-player game based on the hunt for Jack the Ripper. A quick game to play before dinner should suit us fine.

Then I was shocked to find a second game, a Knizia gem that I had wanted for quite awhile:

We already have Blue Moon with a couple expansion decks, so we going to enjoy a different take on the Blue Moon universe.

I'm determined to start being "nice" earlier now in order to get even cooler stuff next year! (oh wait, Christmas is about giving and Santa can probably read this)

I mean, this has inspired me to give even better presents to my SS recipient.

Thanks again Secret Santa--
YOU ROCK!!!

My gift has arrived, but the wife will not let me open it. I wrote a very cute little tale about the adventure so far. You can find it here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/1908704#1908704.

Thanks Santa. Box recieved. Two presents. One card.

Victory will be mine in this game of Cat and Mouse.

Dateline, December 22nd...

The papers were openned and the items were revealed. Much to my surprise, both of my guesses were WRONG!

My Secret Santa sent me...

Through The Desert... which Lady X has all ready expressed keen interest in beatting me at. I was also very happy to receive...

For Sale

Thanks Santa! They will be enjoyed muchly!
