Well, the weather certainly was a bit spooky... and the gaming was a lot of fun. Some not-so-spooky games crept in, but that's OK. It's just fun to hang out & play games, right?

Dave, Braeden & I played a quick game of this card-capturing game - the art is cute but since I have a first edition copy, it's very hard to remember which cards are Concoctions and which cards are Powers. Sigh.

Mark 8
Dave 6 (most Concoctions)
Braeden 4

Cross "Don't Wake Daddy" with a take-that combat game & a bit of bluffing, and you have In Teufel's Kuche (In the Devil's Kitchen), where small demons run about fetching food for their Master & earning his displeasure when they get in a fight.

Braeden, John & Dave all lost demons to the curse of Milk (seriously) and I just lost demons because I kept losing fights. At the end, Braeden was able to sneak through for the win.

Braeden 12
Dave 8
John 7
Mark 6

I have a French copy of the game (Du Balai) but it's exactly the same. This is a speed/memory game, which John excelled at. Dave made clear that he NEVER wanted to play the game again.

John 27 (1st to finish)
Dave 27
Mark 25
Braeden 23

While the early games were going on, Richard & Steve taught Matt & Greg how to play PBF (Greg having jumped into our FpbFL league without ever having played.)

I don't know all the details of their game, but there were blocked kicks, Matt running up incredible yardage (but not scoring), and a "to the wire" finish.

Greg (Pittsburgh) 14
Matt (Seattle) 13

BTW, here's the team list for FpbFL - I'll update that website later today with the schedules:

DIVISION ONE
Indy (Brian)
Pittsburgh (Greg)
Seattle (Steve)

DIVISON TWO
Kansas City (John)
Denver (Richard)
Carolina (Mark)

I got out all my glitches in pre-season. I think I rolled triple 1's twice and rolled a 4 or a 5 three other times.

I was Dracula - and I managed to stay safely hidden in England for the entire first round of turns. That allowed me to sire a vampire (despite John's best efforts to kill it), which was good, since Steve managed to get the Hunter event that lets them fight my VP track back a space.

When I headed to the Continent, I landed in Spain, got caught in Lisbon, yet managed to Wolf Form & Unnatural Speed my way out of the trap. They found me in Central Europe, where they used both of their resolve to "paratroop" in on top of me - and while I took some serious damage (I was down to 5 blood points), I managed to escape from all of them while killing Mina Harker.

At 5 VPs, I got the Evasion event, which allowed me to hide for two turns & win the game on the change of day.

Mark (Dracula) victorious
Steve (Goldaming)
Dave (Seward)
John (Van Helsing)
Richard (Harker)

Great game I look forward to playing again. The production is awesome and I really enjoyed seeing how Drac could slip through our fingers and it's fun going through the possiblities trying to figure out what's in Mark's head. I hate to steer clear of the event cards, added theme and all, but we got hosed so much I'm probably not going to welcome them as much next time.

I just can't take the downtime on this. I would play it with 2 or 3, but there's just not enough to do when you're only playing 1 Hunter.

OK, not spooky - but still fun.

Matt 85,000 (no shame)
Steve 85,000 (one shame)
Richard 75,000
John 65,000
Greg 45,000
Mark 30,000

Why is it that I -always- lose at this game?!

This is just a great game. Doesn't wear out the welcome and is very simple mechanically. I've never played the Kid right before but I think it adds a lot to the game even though it takes a little longer. I thought it was too powerful and that it couldn't possibly be reused. But, Mark came in last, maybe the Kid put to big a target on him.

This is a great partnership game - but you couldn't tell that from the way Will & I sucked wind. Sigh. The worst mess was having one hand thrown out (scoring-wise) because we went through the deck twice without anyone going out... it would have been a great hand for our duo.)

I really enjoyed my introduction to Mystery Rummy. Dupin's Help and the Dupin himself mix up this Rummy game just enough with the special powers on their cards to make this game really interesting.

A quick 2-player round to end the night... both of us ended up with 9 dice. Will is the one who grabbed the King first, but then I managed to set nine 6's as the bar, and he wasn't able to reach it. (Whew.)

Mark - nine 6's
Will - eight 6's & a 4

We looked at Chaos Progenitus and tried to figure it out but it's going to take a few dry runs on my own before I can teach it to somebody.
