First it's the game publishers, now it's my wife!!!

Somehow, my wife has discovered that there were some negative comments made about her on BGG. These were posted in reviews, GeekLists, etc (posted by me!) She is threatening to take action (withholding dinner and other benefits ;)) unless I delete these items from BGG!

I am in negotiations to try and keep the content on the site but I do like eating (not to mention the other benefits!)

This GeekList is to highlight some of the content under threat...

In my review of Talisman 4th Ed. I made the following comment:

"Sadly, a few weeks ago, one of my friends was foolish enough to buy this abomination. He suggested bringing it round for a gaming session. Before I could get him straightjacketed, my wife said that she thought it was a good idea! (She's a non-gamer, how could she have known.)"

She thinks that this portrays her in a negative fashion and wants it removed.

In my review of this game I said:

"Driving home, I rehearsed the conversation I would be holding with my wife. Put simply, she's not as much of a gamer as I am. She has the strange belief that other things are more important than gaming and usually always despairs when I return home from a bit of thrifting. I steeled myself for the usual interrogation and 'evil looks'!

She insists that she does not interrogate or give evil looks and sent me a very rude e-mail to say so! (From the same PC!) Again she wants this removed.

Yeah, but did she interrogate you about whether you'd deleted the offending sentence yet?

What! You have not read the wife manual??? I quote...

Quote:
The "Evil Look" is to remain a secret and to be denied under all circumstances. This has been handed down across generations from the mother goddess and is the one non-invasive tool in the female arsenal that strips men of every ounce of guiltless self will. It is also a useful inference in the forecasting of the withdrawal of sexual favors.

The recent rise in numbers liberated females have led to the sharing of some of these materials by these individuals to the larger community and I would urge you to read the materials so that you are well prepared.

Your intuition is correct, there is an evil look, and they do not ask...they interrogate. If you document the questions you can see that they all lead to a point of challenge that will leave you admitting that you killed Jimmy Hoffa or slept with Monica Lewinske! It was used against Bill Clinton to such effect that Hillary still has that look fixed on her face.

Your best bet is to say "Yes dear" or "I see" and say/do whatever you were going to do anyway. The "Sincere and Clueless" tactic is not a winning tactic but it does neutralize the effects of the evil look with subsequent interrogation.

The same review!!!

Just because I used her toothbrush to clean paint from my minis! Apparently I am not allowed to suggest that such behaviour can be condoned.

In this GeekList it was suggested that I auction my wife in exchange for bag. I refused, saying there was not enough geekgold to buy my wife.

Whilst she still wants this reference removed from BGG, she insists on using this item on other websites to show how caring I am!

2. Instead of saying, "My wife..." try saying, "This woman I'm seeing..." that way she won't be certain who it is you're talking about.

Or refer to her as your girlfriend. that tends to go over well.

Better yet: "My first wife.."

Don't scare me like that!:surprise:

My mother is a big Rumpole fan. She didn't think it was funny when I pointed out to her that calling his wife this meant that he was comparing her to a demon. (She H Rider Haggard)
