This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted games bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
Our GeekGuild: The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Do mind the stacks of prized games. Don't mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Be sure to bow before our King, EvilTimmy I, and pay your due respects to last year's King, Blackwind I. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/193 The Order's Anthem: Sing along with our thrifty theme song...
If I'd actually wanted a playable game of Risk I'd have been disappointed since the box contains no rules and different numbers of each colour of counter. But seeing that all I wanted it for was to get the plastic pieces to assist with game design, then I reckon it was £1.00 well spent.
(If anyone needs any of the other stuff - it has the board and what seems like the full set (or nearly so - I don't have an inventory list) of cards, drop me a line.)
AM VETS, Washington St. San Diego. Red label, so I had to pay full price. In a bag with some alphabet cards and wood tangrams. All 40 tiles are there, but no instructions, pencil or scoring pad. Maybe it's a good game.
Hmmm...so far I don't see anyone posting their $1 purchases from B&N, but I'd definitely consider them "Bargain Finds." So, whether you like it or not, I'll go ahead and post all of my purchases. I'm too lazy to make an entry for each, though, so here's the entire list of 'em:
1. Faces 2. Slide 5 (x2) 3. Front Porch Classic's Shut the Box 4. Knaves of Charlemange 5. Shrek Othello 6. Shrek Scrabble 7. Cranium Super Showdown 8. Cranium Pop 5 9. Cranium Wacky Words 10. Zing! 11. Poser 12. The New Yorker Cartoon Capture Game 13. Conga 14. Some DVD game set with Family Feud, Press Your Luck, and one other game show (no whammies, no whammies, STOP!) 15. And a pack of coasters with drinking games printed on them

Stopped into Deseret Industries with a friend. This store is either really good, or really bad about games. Today it was really good. First game picked up was this for $1.00. I know not a great game but it's a wargame. seth
Found this at volunteers of america for $2.92. The version I got says it includes a timer, but its missing. All the other versions I have looked at dont have a timer listed, and the spinner is different than the photos on BGG. So I was wondering if anyone could let me know what kind of a timer is supposed to be in the box, and the duration of said timer. Thanks in advance
