Games played with a bunch of old and new friends over the course of the week at GoF. As usual had a great time seeing everyone and of course managed a few games as well. Played a total of 50+ games over the week. Highlights were Brass, Hanging Gardens, Extrablatt, Tribune. Honorable mention goes to Stone Age, Hamburgum, Twilight Struggle, Wabash Cannonball. Thanks to Alan for another fun year and all the folks who taught me new games.

My second playing of this new Ystari game. Played the advanced version this time but it still doesn't quite catch my fancy like their other games have. Played 3 times and taught one additional time. Players bid by placing buildings of graduated height (value) on areas of the board to score secret goals.

Played this old stock game. Quite random fluctuations in the stock market make this game a bit silly. In our game everyone went bankrupt but me by the 3rd round...Thanks to Alfonzo and Bruce for teaching.

In almost constant play during the week, seemed well liked by most and one of my favorite recent releases. Light and quick enough for a filler. Has a puzzle building aspect to it and a scoring tile set collection mechanic. One of my new favorites.

Yet another worker placement game,this time with some dice thrown in to boot. Nothing new here but still somewhat interesting to play as you balance gathering resources to earn VP and feeding your cave meeple. another game in contant play during the week and getting some buzz.

Have now played with 3 and 4 players and I think works well with both numbers. Very nice train stock game that doesn't take too long to play.

Taught this to 4 people. Seems to work best with 5. One player felt the market tailes seemed unbalanced but I don't notice much. Main problem is that whoever controls the horses is most likely going to win especially int he late game.

This is an interesting game of attrition. Similair to Year of the dragon, you are struggling to keep what few resources you have. Not something I'd want to play often but it was a challenge. Seems to be a theme in recent years - trying to avoid starving meeples. Thanks to Chris for showing us this survival game of Easter Island.

Kind of like zooloretto with some additional scoring meeples- trainers and fish feeders which makes it a bit more interesting and as cute as the other, but I'm not sure I need both.

Finally got to try this much anticipated game. Probably had my hopes up too much but still an enjoyable game. I think card luck may play a fair part since the game doesn't seem to last long. The players who had a lot of cards in the same color in the opening hand have a big advantage as it is difficult to catch up. I want to give it another try. You place workers to gain more cards. You then play melds to gain control of various political groups which give you additional powers to gain goals for the victory. Multiple victory conditions which can vary. Apparently a short and longer version depending on number of conditions to be met for victory.

4 player Lost Cities. Played with Donna, Silvio and Cecilia. Ok but nothing special. Works as a 4 player version of LC.

Very interesting economic game. Complicated but worth the effort. Feels similair to Age of Steam in weight. Looking forward to trying this one again. Thanks so much to Ken H. for teaching us all the inticacies of this one.

Another dice rolling game but not quite as much fun as Kingsburg. My problem with it is that you roll average dice to gain cards which allow you to roll higher average dice to earn the VP. If you roll poor, or the cards which allow you to improve your dice don't come out in time, you can get stuck and be unable to catch up.

Dice rolling games are officially "in" this year, this is a pleasant enough one but feels a turn or two longish. Still one of the better ones of its ilk.

I can see why people like this game so much. I actually enjoyed my one game of TS a lot more than I thought I would. I just probably wouldn't play it often. Kudos for Eric B. having the patience to teach it to a couple of newbies and to Scott T for helping me struggle thru the game. At least I didn't cause thermonuclear anihilation! I'll have to try 1960 for sure now as I hear it is a little quicker and lighter than TS.

Had heard from a few people that this was a fun dice game. Well, it's a dice game but I didn't have that much fun. Basically roll the dice and claim scoring cards.

Taught a fast 3 player game of round the rondel and got in a nice 5 player game as well. Round and round the rondel. My favorite of the 3 rondel games. Plays fairly quickly even with 5.

Brass is one of the games I have been interested in playing ever since I first read about it, so I would love to have you teach me that one.
I hadn't heard of a Ticket to Ride Card Game....Now I am interested in that.
