I've seen suggestions that somebody make this list, but haven't seen it done yet, so here goes...

Always looking for ways to strike up a conversation about the hobby? Having an intriguing wallpaper on your monitor at work can do the trick.

I'll run some searches and find enough to get us started, but I'm counting on the rest of you to really fill this thing out.

Please add images that you have used as wallpaper to this list. Prefer images that are common screen resolutions: 1024x768, 1280x800, 1280x1024, 1440x900, 1600x1200, 1920x1200. But most importantly it should be very large and clear.

Update: Added bigger images. Did I mention this is my first Geeklist?

Tip: to show a bigger image:
[ ImageID=123456 medium]
Without the space between [ and ImageId at the beginning. Please don't use large or original, they too long to load, people here are clever enough to click through to the image page and get the full size version themselves.

I only recently found this and made it my work desktop. It has a nice space for icons on the left, with Mr Jack the object of focus on the right.
It grabs everyone's attention and high lights a cool game to boot!

I just came across this yesterday and immediately set it as my desktop. I've got a dual monitor setup too, so I have the left monitor with a fade from grey to black (left to right) and the Mr. Jack image on the right monitor. Looks very cool.

Actually I quite like the black one. Think I'll use that at work since its high enough res to fit my 1920x1200 display. Most of these images are just way too small.

This is probably the best one in terms of composition (certainly not for the game). A wallpaper needs to have a place where icons and docks can be readable. You'd never be able to find anything on that Carc one.

This is a version of my rainbow bits image that I used to use as my ubergeekbadge suitable for one of my desktops at home. It's a triplehead 3072x768 system.

If anyone knows any panoramic images that are at least that resolution, I'd love it if they could post them. Other BGG members might also enjoy some dual-head options.

It's unusual aspect ratio makes it unusually perfect for widescreen monitors (most pics on BGG are very, very 'square'). Using this on my desktop at home, right now. I usually resize it to most of the 'width' of the monitor, which on a 16:10 LCD leaves a small band on the top and bottom - so I just set my desktop color to a very dark brown (halfway between the 'coffee brown' in the photo and pure black). Looks fantastic, IMHO, kind of a 'letterboxed' effect, and it goes GREAT with Microsoft's official "Zune" desktop theme:

Just click and size it up to original, then right click and set as desktop background. (That way the image will be clear).

Great idea! Although Lost Cities stays at the top, that's the wallpaper that started me on this mission. And I'll have to go back and promote some nice ones from the back pages. That first page sure does pop now, apologies to Aldie about the bandwidth.

You do realise that you have now changed this into a voting geeklist and that you are exposed to idiotic thumb-whore comments?

These are two other great lists of images, which could be great for wallpaper, but are definately great for adding to screensaver images:

There are lots of great photography lists, happy to have people add links to them here. But you're right, they're screensaver fodder, not wallpaper. That isn't to say that everything on this list actually works that well as wallpaper. I don't keep any icons on my desktop, and the camels still ended up driving me nuts.
