Games you played with your Mother on her Day

(At least here in the USA) Yesterday was Mother's Day. This is usually a great time for all children to show their mother that, despite all appearances to the contrary on every other day of the year, she is appreciated. So what better way for a game geek to give back to his/her mother on her special day than to share some games with her. I'm sure I'm not the only one, so please add any games that you played with the Mothers in your life yesterday.

Lions 4-0 in the Preseason

After the evening youth group meeting at church we stopped at my in-law's house and decided to play some games with my Mother-in-law (aka Mom.) So it was just the three of us (Myself, Rikki & Mom) and I decided to force this brand new Tanga purchase on them.
It was tolerable, although Mom was the first to collapse from exhaustion. It was a pretty dull game and after I won, Rikki said "I don't know. It was OK, but not all that." I mumbled something about it only costing 5 bucks and that it might play better with more players. Then I quickly grabbed another game. |

Lions 4-0 in the Preseason

This was the next game I brought to the table, and it went over much better. We'd played it before, but it had been awhile. Rikki was racing ahead to a solid win, but Mom & I quickly caught up. As we approached the "Home Stretch" Rikki & I started a little tug-o-war as I tried to delay her victory. Eventually she was able to push on and win. Sadly, Mom came in dead last having not even made it to the Home Stretch area.
This game is one of our favorite trick-taking games now, because it plays really fast, and has that unique mechanic of each suit being trump. Also, I strongly recommend users consider looking at the house rules posted here on BGG, they are a nice balancing mechanic and make a lot of sense. |

At this point I thought for sure Mom was going to quit in order to watch the rest of her Survivor show. But as soon as I mentioned that we had the zoo game she said "I'd like to play that." To make it extra special for her we even took out her 2 least favorite animals. The game went pretty smoothly and I won by a good margin (my very first time winning!)
This is Mom's favorite new game and she is always requesting it now. I think, overall, she enjoyed playing the games with us (especially this one) but sadly on Mother's Day she wound up losing all 3 games. Maybe next year, Mom! |

My mother raised me on Scrabble and is an insatiable Scrabble-addict. The day before Mother's Day (she had work to do on the actual day, and I had some possible commitments that could've interfered), we played three games at Scrabulous.com, which is our go-to for Scrabble-playing since I live many states away. She won two of the three games, so I think she was pleased.  |

In my case, it's the one day I shouldn't try to get the family to play a game (and torture the wife).
So, when she was busy with something and distracted I tried to get two of my kids to play this before she got back into the room  |

Had a big family gathering at our farm last night, and although most people left, I started building a track and soon had enough players for a race. My mom participated for her 2nd time. She played 2 games and although she lost them both, she still likes the "flicking game," and was trying to get others to play as well, which is always an extremely good sign. |

Not with MY mother, but the mother of my children, aka my wife  .
We also played Zing & Drive, which I had gotten from Tanga earlier this week. I'd link them, but they are better known as Sieben Siegel & Crazy Chicken.
Tzaar is really good. A great addition to the Gipf series. Zing was alot of fun, and we only got 1 round played of Drive (you are supposed to play 3) because it was bedtime for the kids.
We also played some Mario Kart Wii earlier in the day.
Oh yeah, and some Xbox 360 Wits & Wagers. And she played Carcassonne on Xbox Live also. |

Played Rummy with her. Which her favorite game in the world.
I also introduced her and my father to Felix The Cat in the sack, which I am liking more and more with each play. She was luke warm to it.

My mom comes over for dinner every Sunday and the three of us (me, my wife, and my mom) will usually play a game after the kids are in bed. Recently, we introduced my mom to Race for the Galaxy. My mom was up for trying it again so we brought it out. Mom got New Sparta, tried a military strategy and lost by only 2 points.
My wife and I have always played Race 2 player, so it's fun being able to try it out with 3. |

I could never call my mother-in-law mom. It is not that I don't like her, but she isn't my mom. I was so glad when my son was born, because now I can just call her grandma (I have a hard time calling them by their first names as well).
It was weird calling them Mr. or Mrs. after I had known them nine years, so the grandma and grandpa thing came just in time back when he was born.
