Having gotten legally married a few weeks ago my new wife, Ayumi, and I have started to fill out the mountains of paperwork that we need to submit so that she may remain and work in the US.

Now, I know that they have to ask these questions, but still, I can't help but laugh/shake my head at a few of them.

I'll leave the list open too, maybe the government is missing some questions that should be added.

Have you ever, in or outside the United States exercised diplomatic immunity to avoid prosecution for a criminal offense in the United States?

Not that funny of a question, but I couldn't help but think about that guy in in one of the Lethal Weapon movies (I forget which one)...."Diplomatic Immunity!"

That's the second (and best) one. Versus the smuggling South Africans.

- "Have your brains ever seen the light of day?"
- "You're crazy! I am a cop!"
- "Not aymore." *BANG*

Wait, the third one (versus the corrupt ex-cop) was good too.

Joss Ackland is a great screen villain. I nearly wrote "the late," but I was clearly conflating him with Richard Jordan, his scene partner in "The Hunt for Red October."

Have you ever within the past ten years been a prostitute or procured anyone for prostitution, or intended to engage in such activities in the future?

Did they just ask my wife if she is a whore?

They are asking also if you are a rent boy.

Don't ask, don't tell. :p

robot Apparently, they are gauging your "response" to ascertain whether or NOT that you'll be capable for "Public Office" due to this. That goes doubly for if you are "Republican"!

This is statistically unverifiable. However, what is anecdotally verifiable is that you are twice as likely to see a lot of press about it.

Moral turpitude, son. We don't like that in America.

That would be 1a. Have you ever, in or outside the United States knowingly committed any crime of moral turpitude or a drug-related offense of which you have not been arrested?

The best answers would be:
"Ten years? Whew...I just made the cutoff."

"Never...but in the future? Now that you mention it I was thinking about majoring in prostitution."

After a long pause, "Define prostitution."

Have you ever engaged in, conspired to engage in, or do you intend to engage in, or have you ever solicited membership or funds for, or have you through any means ever assisted or provided any type of material support to any person or organization that has ever engaged or conspired to engage in sabotage, kidnapping, political assassination, hijacking or any other form of terrorist activity?

By the time she got to the point of this question she forgot what she was doing.
