Many boardgamers have a number of unplayed games in their collection.
The games could be undone of the shrinkwrap, they could have been opened, components may have been punched and bagged, rules may have been read.
But the games remain unplayed.

Of those games, do you think there is one that will never get played (by you)? If so, which one? Please list it below and share with all of us why you think this game will never get your love. Choose a game that you have not yet put up for trade.
Also let us know how many games in total you have unplayed at this time, excluding games you have put up for trade.

I don't think I'll ever get to play this game. I just can't get a grip on the rules, and by now, I don't really much care to. About a year ago I got into something of a wargame frenzy (relatively speaking... I didn't go completely overboard). However, my peak seems to be somewhere around the Paths of Glory mark. I can't seem to digest much more rules than that.

I still have games like FAB: The Bulge and Asia Engulfed to play, as well as The Burning Blue. The latter may seem heavier than Empire of the Sun, but it is for some reason more accessible (maybe because of the way the rules are written, or because its focus is much narrower).

Total unplayed games: 8

I own Empire of the Sun as well, and I'll probably never get around to playing it. It came out about the same time as Fire in the Sky. I've played Fire in the Sky once, but I still hold out hope of playing it again.

For a very accessible wargame, I would suggest Combat Commander:Europe.

Which version? There have been so many since the game was released that it's difficult to keep track.

I have the v2.0 rules that came with the deluxe map, which I also have... And why I ordered that I have no idea, because I actually prefer the paper maps.

jeroen- bring it over: we can have a step-by-step crack at it, maybe a scenario. I hate to see you give up on a game... I stand by my belief ALL my games (even Slasher Flick, Darkover and Europa Universalis will get played... life is long, and you meet lots of bizarre folks who may just be up for such games!)

Currently: 54 unplayed games

Well this little gem will probably never get played. I bought it in 1980 and read the rules and then proceeded to teach a few of my buddies the rules. One of the guys (we still game to this day) made a comment "What happens if you spill beer on the carpet?", he got the giggles and kept asking that question over and over. There is NO rule about that but he thought it amazingly funny. We eventually had to move on to something else and it has not hit the table again in almost 30 years :shake: ....sigh

OMG sell me your copy (for a reasonable price)!!

I probably won't get a chance to play it again, but I'll have a better shot if I actually own it... :surprise:

This one is actually a lot of fun. Yes you get the occasional absurd result - flinging your hat into the opponent's face is a repeatedly effective tactic - but the game mechanic of having to plan moves out ahead is interesting, the theme is enjoyable (all players of course are required to speak with faux-French accents to taunt the opposition, think "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"), and definitely those I've played it with enjoyed it.

Well, the theme is why it probably won't hit the table. It just doesn't interest my family very much. I received it as a Christmas gift and I'm thinking it will get traded away before I ever actually play the game.

I'm actually looking for this one. I saw it at my FLGS one day, and when I went back to get it....gone.

If you're interested in a GG sale, mail me with your price.

Found at Thrift store and I predict that it will go back. I picked it up after seeing the coins on the box thinking that I could use them for a different game, but sadly the game doesn't include enough of them. It will be my last Thrift store purchase, it is a waste of time.

I have this game and have played it, its not a bad game. I wouldn't send it back to a gift store though, I have seen this sell for over $50 on Ebay.

I have the newest Blood Bowl boxed set. I'm dying to play it, but I promised myself I wouldn't play until they were all painted. If I ever hope to get this played, I'm going to have to rescind that promise.
