The site www.abreojogo.com is the Portuguese encounter point for the boardgame addicts. A lot of Portuguese players are both BGG and AbreOJogo contributors, and we use a lot of BGG to keep track of stats and share our hobby with the international community, while we are on AbreOJogo to keep in touch with the national community.
You can see the current rank here. In this the AbreOJogo members that are also BGG members classify the games. In the last months the number of members has grown at a rate no one had predicted.
Last 5th April the TrincaCON08 was the best (so far) Portuguese convention, a get together for the community with more than 100 participants. This coupled with the monthly Gatherings of Lisbon and Oporto, as well as new groups getting together all around the country (Almada, Aveiro, Oeiras and Abrantes) just to name a few) have helped to spread the word of mouth of the boardgame players community. Every week we see new faces showing up, getting out, meeting new people and playing new games.
So without much more let's start it. This is the current TOP 100, with pointers to the last time I've collected this data (see geeklist: Portuguese TOP 100 - May 2008)
If some of you are visiting Portugal, drop by at one of the weekly meetings be it in Lisbon, Oporto, Oeiras, Leiria, Abrantes, Aveiro or Almada. We would like to receive you and make you feel at home.
