It's undeniable the impact The Beatles have had on popular music. Their music is still played and enjoyed some 40 years after their breakup.

This Geeklist lists the studio albums released by the Liverpool band. Please feel free to comment on favorite tracks, album history, or even variations of recordings.

In deference to their origins, I am listing the UK albums, in order of release. Please add any other significant Beatles albums or singles that you feel needs to be discussed.

Enjoy, and I look forward to your comments.

According to several commentators, it's actually an ode to oral sex.

Personal favourites: the two fantastic versions of American R & B songs largely overlooked in their home country - Please Mr Postman & You've Really Got A Hold On Me. Those three voices singing together still sound thrilling after 45 years of fairly constant play.

 Agree with the other posters...this is the hardest to choose. I love Helter Skelter and Guitar Gently Weeps, but after a lot of soul-searching I think I actually have to go with Savoy Truffle and/or Why Don't We Do It In The Road. ARGH! It's a masterpiece, therefore just impossible to pick!

Everything they released was popular despite the quantity.

Again I ask, can anyone have such a wide ranging affect on popular music while still producing as much music in such a short amount of time?

Well... I think those that I mention did a lot more interesting stuff than the Beatles. I like the Beatles, I just don't see what they are so elevated. They made pop music, that is all. As far as their affect on pop music, they were imitating others and getting credit for originality.

Great albums, all of them... but they are not some high water mark of pop culture nor are they the pioneers that people make them out to be.
