Hello fellow Race for the Galaxy players.

Grab a seat and pick a team. Lets play a Geeklist game of RftG!!

How it works.
I am going to moderate a 2 player (team) game of RftG by using this thread as the main board position and creating 2 other threads, 1 for each team.

If you choose to join a team, please do not cheat and view the other teams thread while the game is playing.

Players may join at any time in the game. Just stick to your team's thread.

The RED TEAM thread is here:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/32022
(no peeking, only go here if you want to commit to the RED TEAM)

The BLUE TEAM thread is here:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/32023
(no peeking, only go here if you want to commit to the BLUE TEAM)

Nominate the team you are joining by thumbing the Geeklist Item below.
Red Team - Entry 1
Blue Team - Entry 2
(then we can see team balance on this page)

Some detail on how the game functions:
This Geeklist will be used to display information that is avaiable to both teams.
i.e. Tableau, VP's and cards in hand.

The first item will be the board position of the RED TEAM.
The second item will be the board position of the BLUE TEAM.

The subsequent items will be used to track the turn information as it happens.

And the winner is
BLUE TEAM !!
Congratulations

This header will be used to give any moderator information regarding the state of the game or a change in the rules etc.

As moderator I am going to try to facilitate the forward motion of the game so both teams may not be voting on exactly the same phase. While one team is settling the other team may be voting on the consume action strategy.

My appologies for the previous stop in play. The BGG poll system required some unexpected maintenance.

Due to the polls still being buggy lets continue with the game and use the comments to collect the vote.

I will create a comment for each card/action. You can then thumb the comment/s you want to vote for.

The Fine Print.
If I make a mistake in the rules, if the action is posted to this thread then it stands and the game moves on.
We will be playing random start worlds and 2 phases per player as specified in the 2 player variation in the rules.

Just add "inline" (without quotes) after the image ID# of each image. If you hit the quote link on this post you should see how I did it.

edit: I forgot to explain how I did it after I figured it out with some google-fu.

In retrospect, Greg was right that blue team should keep Galactic Renaissance than New Economy. One more VP.

Thanks for running the game! It was fun and a neat idea.

Thumb comments for card choices (instead of polls)

When the polls were working, I MUCH preferred the polls. With the thumbing method, I could already see what everyone else had chosen, so either my choice didn't matter at all or we got heavily influenced by the first couple of votes. With the polls, I don't see the results before voting, so it feels much different. Even if in reality my vote still didn't matter, it didn't feel so useless.

That is good feedback and I wondered about the psychology of the polls.

I defintely prefer the polls for the choice value and the fact that it is annonymous. The annonymity is also a weakness in that anyone can then vote.

So there are some pros and cons. The other cons are that the polls are flakey and buggy which really hampers the flow of the game. We wasted probably 3-4 days when I was waiting for the polls to work again before I finally gave up. And, the polls are much harder and more time consuming to create, which does work against them in an already time consuming process.

Tim, again, this is an awesome idea and I hope you'll repeat it. Unfortunately I was busy and couldn't play this time, but I would gladly join in next time.

I prefer 3-4 players Race for the Galaxy, but this would also triple or quadruple your efforts.
