If they had taken the musical numbers and venom out of spiderman 3 it would have been a decent movie. Part 4 is rumored to have a new person in the roll of spiderman, the casting going around is a much much younger spiderman. Talking teenage spiderman. Which would mean a reboot of the series.

I've always thought that the Ang Lee (2003 w/ Eric Bana) version was hugely underrated, which is not really surprising considering that it was marketed in a way completely at odds with the directors vision.

I recommend anyone who hasn't seen this and can deal with movies without non stop action to check this out.

After Batman Forever and Batman & Robin (seriously, what the fuck?), I lost faith in the Batman franchise all together. Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale reaffirmed my faith, but it wasn't the two of them alone that made the difference. If not for Frank Miller's Batman: Year One, this movie never would have had the brilliant story that carried the movie.

But I think that's the secret of the success. Spider Man and the X-men also take a lot from the comics - that's the whole point of making a comic-inspired movie. Sin City is, in my opinion, one of the best comics to movie adaptations and it is almost literal - the dialogs are straight from the pages.

The sequel also borrows heavily from the Batman Comics. I found the dialogs between the Batman and the Joker very reminiscent of Alan Moore's The Killing Joke.

Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman also help a lot. And Ledger is brilliant as the new Joker (much better than Nicholson).

Christian Bale is also very good, but I sometimes found very funny that voice he does as Batman.

I would be scared if I bumped into Bale in a dark alley. Michael Keaton would only scare me if he appeared dressed as Bettlejuice

I agree that if you look up the term "drop-dead gorgeous" in a dictionary there will probably a photo of hers...

Good, but not great films. Its hard to feel too connected to any of the characters in these films. That said, Patrick Stewart and Ian McClellan was probably the most inspired bit of casting that we've had in superhero films (until Heath Ledger as the joker?).

Could the two best Superhero films of all time come out in the same year? It certainly seems like it. Downey, as many have commented, made the movie.
