After seeing this http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/33243 fantastic list, I posted a list of Pink Floyd solo stuff. So I guess I'll make my own list.
This is the Pink Floyd Solo List.

The Madcap Laughs (1970)
Another good one. I like Golden Hair and Here I Go on this one. Golden Hair is pretty beautiful.
Technically this is Syd Barrett's first solo album, but I think the work was done at roughly the same time.
Shame that he wigged out.

Barrett (1970)
Both of Syd's solo albums were released in the same year. They had some help from the other members of Pink Floyd. This one is pretty good although the songs are a little more whimsical than many of the Floyd songs.
I really like the last song on the album...Effervescing Elephant.

Opel (1988)
This one was a compilation of stuff that didn't make it to the other two albums.
Honorable Mention. The first two solo albums were released as a double album called "Syd Barrett"

David Gilmour: (1978)
This was David Gilmour's first solo album. My favorite song on this album is "So Far Away" but the rest of it is pretty good too. Lots of good guitar work.

About Face: (1984)
This was released right after Roger Waters left the band and is a very good album. I like "Murder", "Out of the Blue" and "Let's Get Metaphysical". This album shows why David Gilmour is a guitar master. It also shows that he was the softer edge to Roger Waters.

On an Island (2006)
After a long hiatus from both Floyd and doing solo stuff, David Gilmour made this album. Some of the songs were written with his wife. My favorite on this is "Smile".

Fictitious Sports: (1981)
One of Nick Mason's solo efforts. I like this one but I really can't pick a favorite song.

Nick released three albums with Rick Fenn. Unfortunately, I don't have any of them. I did see Profiles in the store once...Never picked it up.

Music from the Body (1971) released with Ron Geesin.
This one is an interesting one from Roger Waters. Many of the songs are different sound effects from the body with music. My two favorite songs are "Breathe" and "Give Birth to a Smile".

The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking (1984):
This was Roger Waters first solo album after leaving Pink Floyd. You can hear much of the same music that he used in Pink Floyd. If I remember correctly, some of this are tracks there were going to be used on a third album for the Wall but never made it. I like this whole album, but my favorite is "Every Strangers Eyes".
Note: I used Busen Memo because of the cover of this album.

When the Wind Blows (1986?):
Not really a solo album because it has stuff by other people (David Bowie's track is pretty good) but the entire second side is Roger Waters' material. This stuff lays the groundwork for Radio KAOS. Folded Flags is pretty good.
"There must be more to life than lucky strikes and some unlucky ones and folded flags and pipes and drums"

Radio KAOS (1987):
Roger Waters third solo album. I remember reading about this one in Rolling Stone and waiting with baited breathe for it to come out. I went to the record store on release day and got it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed at first, but as I listened to it more, I enjoyed it more. I like this whole album, but I think my favorite is "Four Minutes" and the video that goes with it.

Amused to Death (1992):
This one stacks up very well to many of the Pink Floyd albums and slightly edges out "The Division Bell". I love this album top to bottom and can't really name a favorite out of it because I like them all. But if you asked me to name the best it would have to be "Perfect Sense".
Although this isn't from that song: "...they loved the only explanation left... This species has amused itself to death. No tears to cry. No feelings left... The species has...amused itself to death."

Ca Ira (2005):
This was Roger Waters' attempt at opera. It is not bad but not quite real opera but better than Webber's stuff.

Wet Dream (1978):
Richard Wright's foray into solo stuff. Not a bad effort.

Broken China (1996):
I remember seeing this one in the store as Rick Wright. I picked it up on the hope that it was the same guy as PInk Floyd. Which it was. It's different from Floyd stuff but not bad.

I started to listen to Pink Floyd over 20 years ago. Started with watching the Wall and then moved onto their other stuff. Then I started to discover their solo stuff. So now I have all their studio stuff and officially released live stuff. I have most of their solo stuff (with the exception of the three Nick Mason albums I can't find). Overall, I love their music. Shame that they can't get together for one more tour.

The earlier Floyd definately has a different feel to it. Less somber, softer.
Maybe after you figure that one out, maybe you can work on figuring out the appeal of Britney Spears and Mariah Carey.

There is truth to that analogy... good one.
