I first got serious about boardgaming in Arizona with the AZ Boardgamers (Phoenix area). Last year, I moved to Nebraska for a job, but I'm moving back to the Phoenix area in a couple more weeks. While I've had a great time meeting gamers here in the midwest and playing (often new) games, I've been jonesing to get back to the desert to play some things.

This is my all time favorite game, and yet I've only played a couple times since I left Phoenix. Though I'll miss playing this with Jason Sato (MagicRat - may he rest in peace) and Jason Maxwell (JasonRMax - who has since moved away), I look forward to sitting down with all the other AoS fans still in the area (and there are plenty of them).

How will you live down the fact that both the first and last time you played AoS with the AZ Boardgamers I beat you, and I've only won 3 times total?

The first time I played was at Rob's on the US map. I had no clue what I was doing. The second time was with you and Dion (his first time) on Ireland - your first win. You left Dion alone and spent the game beating on me. I blame Dion for not helping. See how easy it is to blame him for everything? He probably cheated too.

I blame you for a lot of my losses. Like in Korea when you gave the game to Sato by urbanizing one of my cities for no apparent reason other than you could.

I guess the Ireland map was Dion's first game then.

I remember the game where I urbanized one of your towns in the last turn. IIRC I had an actual reason for it, but I don't remember what it was. ;)

I was winning, so you hosed me, which cost me 3-4 points, making Jason Sato the winner instead of me. One could argue that you were simply attacking the leader, but in that situation, it didn't help you any. So I will bitterly complain about that play forever.

Well it got me 3-4 points closer to the leader. ;)

Another group favorite that I haven't played more than a small handful of times. I'm always willing to play this and I have to believe there are usually enough guys there willing to play as well.

We've actually had a hard time getting Tichu to the table lately. Matthew and I are trying to practice for next year's Gathering, so it will be great to have another Tichu enthusiast back in town! I would gladly play Tichu every week if I could.

And I look forward to being Rob's partner again on the next Tichu game...right Rob?

I'd play it every week, too. Man, more Tichu!

And no, Dion, you can't be Rob's partner, because he and I are trying to get a Tichu mind-meld going.

I'll be moving to Mesa and should be pretty close to a gaming buddy - Erik Von Burg (djbrickhaus). One of the things I always liked about gaming with Erik was that he was more willing to play some things that were about fun and less about tacked-on-theme-euros (don't get me wrong, I love those, but sometimes you need a little ameri-trash in your diet too). Erik is a big fan of Heroscape, and while I know a bunch of the others are too, its almost easier to get together on an off-game night to play this.

I had wanted to play this for a long time and I finally broke down and purchased it while in Nebraska. Its a great game, and I can't wait to play it with the sharks in AZ. It plays out so differently depending on so many factors, one being the personality of the group - it'll be really interesting I'm sure.

I look forward to playing this one as well. I've owned it for some time now and only played it twice. It's usually too long for a Friday night at the Inn play, but I'd gladly play it on a Saturday when you return.
