I know that this kind of list has been done a hundred times, but none of them have been tailored specifically toward what games Morgan likes. Well now it finally has come.

Now I'm tough on kids games, because I love a good kids game. If I'm playing a kids game and it isn't fun, then it is going to get a rating accordingly. I know that clearly these games are intended for kids, but I'm not a child anymore, and my rating reflects my taste. Honestly, if I'm not having fun playing a kids game then there is something wrong.

You can feel free to add games to this list if you'd like, but keep in mind, these games are kids games that adults can play, not adult games that kids can play.

Who's the creepiest? Who's the scariest?

That's right!

DER PLUMPSACK.

I'm not a big fan of memory games, but for some reason this works, and works well. It is a great bar game. With a few in you this game gets hilarious.

The reason it works so well for me is that in addition to just being a memory game this is a spacial relationship game. This game is all about figuring out the combos that get you the prized piece of junk that you need.

Our favorite part of the game is when someone stalls out, and we tell them what strange item isn't under the card. "It isn't deep disheartening dispair. It isn't global hunger. It isn't contemplating the infinite"

We play with an odd number of cards in the ring to prevent even movement flip-flopping. If you haven't played this, you have know idea what I'm talking about, but trust me, remember this mantra... "Odd Number Ring".

It makes me sad that this was re-themed as a dog Sherlock Holmes. Der Plumpsack might be the weirdest character I've run across.

I even wrote a song about him.

Plumpsack, Plumpsack,
Dances round the table
Plumpsack, Plumpsack,
He likes to fill his bag.

Plumpsack, Plumpsack,
He wants to steal your fingers.
He comes into your bedroom,
you'll know when he's been there.

Plumpsack, Plumpsack,
He's filled with children's fingers
He had to patch himself up
When scratched through by a nail.

Plumpsack, Plumpsack,
Dances through the blankets.
Plumpsack, Plumpsack,
He likes to fill his bag.

I love racing games. They aren't the most popular genre in my group so they really only get busted out when people are over at my house during big game days. I understand that often racing games can outstay their welcome. Giro Giloppo is the perfect length. It is quick and dirty.

And boy is it dirty.

This game is really mean. Honestly, it may be too mean for little kids. You can really get knocked around. There is a lot of chaos here as there is simultaneous action, but it is all for fun and it is over before it can get too frustrating.

There certainly can be break away leaders, but that is why you always play for Win, Place, Show and Glue Factory.

It plays up to five, but it just gets too cramped and too out of control with the maximum number. I play with 4.

Oh, and please note the bits are fantastic.

Yup another racing game.

This is my new obsession. Each boat has a dowel that fits far from snugly within the back end a wooden boat. You push the boat from the back and the effect is something like pushing the back end of spaghetti. On your turn you squirrel your way through a slalom course, this is made even more frantic by one of the craziest components in any game. There is a sailing bit that replicates a mooring. On your turn you give this to another player and they yell out "Cut the Painter" and off you go while they try to tie figure 8s around the mooring till they run out of rope.

It is frantic and fun.

Who doesn't love cheese and castles? Whoever they are, I don't trust them.

So you have these mice that run around through something like a 3D castle (really it is more like a 2.5D castle but whatever). The game has a wonderful feeling of exploration as you try to get two of you mice on matching cheese. The catch to the game though is that not only can you foil other player's plans, you can be outright mean.

This is one of the few games I've played where it is really fun to gang up on other players and amusing when it happens to you. To effectively get the cheese you need to leave a couple mice vulnerable, but as long as you are aware of your surroundings you are mostly safe, but with some collusion players can manipulate the board so that an open tile appears below you and it is off to the dungeon you go. Once the knives come out everyone is ready to drop another mouse into the pit.

Who knew that wolverines liked Vulture Eggs?

Who knew that sophisticated vultures could capture baby wolverines?

Who knew that vultures could rig an alarm system?

In Gulo Gulo, you are trying to rescue the baby wolverine from the vulture nest by plucking different coloured eggs from the nest. Don't knock over the alarm stick, however, or you're headed back to the start.

The only game I know where small children (who have small egg grabbing fingers!) can match up evenly with large adults (who make better choices in the game, but have this bad habit of knocking the alarm out of the nest)....great fun.

I'm not sure why this game is so fun, but I always have a good time. Which is fortunate, since according to BGG I've played it 49 times so far.

The game is fairly simple, with simple strategy (simple enough for a 5 year old to figure out on their own), all centered around playing cards to take plastic dogs and cats from a pile in the center. Sometimes, instead of taking animals from the pile in the center, you get to steal them from your opponent's piles!

As an added bonus, it's easy to secretly play badly and guarantee that your children will win when they're feeling down. I like that in a game, because when my children are sad about something we often play a game, and stealing all of daddy's cats and dogs cheers them up a lot more than losing would.

and everything under the sun is in tune
mbmbmbmbmb
I'm going to plagiarize myself and copy the following from one of my geeklists.

My mom buys a lot of junk at yard sales: hats, chairs, paintings, lamps, driftwood sculpture, ukuleles, carpet samples, soap-box derby cars, dentist's tools, house paint, stuffed manatees, plates commemorative and otherwise...the largest portion of these treasures falls into the category of "animal-shaped, superfluous kitchen appliance." Think "pelican-shaped ice bucket," "squirrel-shaped olive pitter," "coyote-shaped tea cosy." So, anyway, you will understand that my enthusiasm was, shall we say, well within the bounds of control when she told me that she had bought a board game for my son, and the fact that she had bought it from the tag sale of a middle-aged man who was liquidating his vast and priceless collection of pig-themed knickknackery did nothing to whip my interest into a frappé of giddiness but rather only made me grateful that I had a nice manly hobby like board games. When I arrived at her house she presented me with PIGGY BANK RACE, the hideous cover of which you can see at left, photo courtesy of yours truly, no thanks necessary. However, on opening the box I was immediately impressed with the components: little piggy banks...little plastic coins...kinda cute. Then I read the rules. Uh...hey, waitaminute...this actually sounds kinda...interesting. I look back at the box again. Wow! They even give the author a credit! Whatsitsay? Koninklijke Hausemann en Hotte? Great Caesar's ghost! IT'S A EUROGAME!!!

So, we played Piggy Bank Race. Twice, in fact. And it's actually. Not. Bad. Each player has two piggy banks, rolls a die, and, as in Parcheesi, can move either piece forward that number of spaces, but spaces which already contains pigs are skipped over. If you land on a space with a coin or coins shown on it, you can put the coins in one or both of your piggy banks. If you land on a space with a black coin shown on it, you can put a black coin in an opponent's piggy bank, and this acts a "negative one coin," or maybe some kind of coin antimatter that kerplodes when it touches a real coin and afterwards nothing is left over (yes, "kerplodes," it's a scientific term, look it up). There are also spaces that let you shake other players' pigs so as to better judge how full their little bellies are with precious, precious gold! The first five pigs to cross the finish line earn 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 coins, and then the game is over. The player with the piggy bank with the most gold wins, though it does not have to be one that crossed the finish line. In fact, it once happened that the winning pig was one who did not make it to the end, which makes sense because the front-runners keep getting whacked by the deadly Black Coins.

It was all very silly, but entertaining nonetheless. The best part was watching my mom, the woman who buys flamingo-shaped seltzer bottles and ocelot-shaped toast prongs, get all cagey and evil about bombing her large and smelly offspring's piggy banks with antimoney.

This is a very simple race game.

Players want to get their pawns into the center of the board. In order to get them there, there are three trains running around in concentric circles (in opposite directions). You must move the trains in such a way that you will be picking your guys up and preventing your opponents from getting on the train (or off of the train).

The pieces are adorable, and while it isn't deep, despite a heavy amount of luck, there is a real game here.

This is easily my favorite dexterity game, and I adore dex games.

Load up the ship with strange items, then slide the boat around the board, and hope things don't fall over. Amazing!

There are some problems with it that are easily fixed. I play so that at the end of every round you remove one good from each of the islands that have the most. This speeds the game up to the right length and insures that the game will actually end. I also play this so that if you draw a card and it is a keeper you draw again, if it is another keeper you give it to another player, you continue to do this until you get an effect card. This means that keepers are now in the game more and thereby more zaniness ensues, and more effects change the play up so ... more zaniness ensues.

I like it when the zaniness ensues.

Man, is this game disgusting.

It may be the most revolting theme of any game I've played (though perhaps surpassed by Pain Doctors). You roll two dice one determines which of the two pigs you MUST feed, the other determines how many chits you must feed to said pigs. Players stuff and stuff and stuff the pigs until one of their bellies are torn open and their offal is splayed across the game board.

Then we all rummage through the guts to see how much of our food is in there, everyone gets rewarded based on how much each player overfed the poor thing, the player that ended the poor thing's life in the most gruesome way possible misses out on the points so all the food is lost.

Gross? Yes Cruel? Yes

It is a strange simulation of some hillbilly game that I don't need to know about, but man is this a fun little closer.

It is essentially a push your luck stock game ... for kids ... and those practicing to be serial killers. Yay!

It is such an entertaining game of hide and seek. Only Hugo isn't interested in those that are hiding, everyone is seeking to hide and Hugo is seeking you!

It's ok, he only steals your soul.

It is amazing how this game still really holds up. This is a perfect in-betweener when the drinks are setting in or when everyone is shifting tables. It is one of the few games that plays up to 8 well. I great closer when you just want one more game, but don't actually have the energy to play one.

This game is somewhat like Kapitän Wackelpudding. From my comments on the game:

The game's delicious tension grows in relation to the height of the wobbly hive stack where maliciously clever players have teetered their additions on the edge of collapse in hopes that the tower will fall before it has a chance to come back around and deliver them their just desserts. The plaintive prayers for "Zero" by the player tasked with moving a tower grown untenably high is drowned out by the cruel steady chant of "Three!" from the peanut gallery: it's like a Disney-fied Lord of the Flies, or like those tiny green cannibal urchins in Galaxy Quest exhorting "Rock! Rock!". Also, the use of taunts, whistles, ooooo-whoo-whoo-whoohs, and the occasional "jazz hands" from the other players is not verboten.

The game's difficulty level can be increased or decreased by using the circular or rectangular tray, by widening or narrowing the gap between tiles, and/or by using your weak or strong hand. Shots of alcohol, for the grown-ups, may be applied at your discretion....

Ok, there are movement rules, secret victory conditions and frickin Cannons that shoot treasure chests out of towers!

There is something like a real game here which is pleasing, but not as pleasing as shooting the Captains Quarters out of the ship and have his treasure spill into the sea.

The ships are gorgeous, the mat is delightful, and it has perhaps the oddest pieces of art that I've seen. On the gold sacks, instead of a skull and crossbones, there is a skull and a crossed knife and fork, which makes you think about what is in the bag.

Wait that's not gold, that's long pig! What kind of pirate's are we that we are collecting human meat in a sack?

Give me a lever and I can move the world!

That or I can flip little token and everyone grabs at them in the air.

Best played with an even number of players so that you can have teams.

One person loads a token onto the catapult and hits one end. The tokens are colored on one side so that when they shoot up into the air they spin about slightly obscured. Grab your own team's color and you get a point, grab another team's color and they get the point, let it fly and it goes back in the pile.

This is an amazing party game.

I'm not necessarily an animal lover. I like animals. But I love to stack them!

Out of the box this is good, but if you roll too many alligators the stack becomes too spread out and it becomes boring. I only allow two animals to be touching the gator, then it becomes another "1" roll. Now, no more problems.

There is a good rule that prevent you from taking all the animals that fall (only a few) so that you aren't effectively eliminated.

This is a fantastic little filler game.

This is a sim of life on the Amazon. As usual when a pesky monkey fishes for Piranha using a pith helmet as bait, they just can't resist.

Players hinge their fish onto the helmet and each other. The helmet tips and spins around on a thin string so it is never secure.

Unlike many of these kind of dex games where you get the pieces that fall often when you blow it only a couple fish come off so that means you aren't effectively eliminated given that others my blow it as well and there is still an unstable structure that can still fall for others.

Much like Loopin Louie there is a rotating racial stereotype only now it is blown tenfold as you are flinging "his people's" food back at his face with catapult forks.

It is an absurd amount of fun. I'm not sure that it has the lasting power of Loopin' Louie, but it definitely pleases.

I really like this game, but honestly it is borderline offensive. If the spinning target was an African American I'd be up in arms. It is an unfortunate stereotype, but it doesn't mean that the game isn't fun.

Everyone is a monkey trying to punch out coconuts out of the backpack of the angry ape Bongo Kongo. First let me tell you that Bongo is crazy, I mean he is all over the place. He doesn't want people to punch his nutsack, and it makes him angry when you try. Let me tell you, he's violent. If he catches you with his club your monkey will go flying!

Unlike Hungry Hungry Hippos this game requires some real skill.

This is a cute race to the top of the mountain game. In order to get there you need to use your cards in creative ways. You get to play two cards on your turn, cards have numbers on them and they can be assigned either for movement or for which numbered pawn you move. It is all about building little combos to climb up the hill. The only way that you can move up is to step on the heads of other pawns, unless you discover secret passages.

This ends up being a great lightweight game for adults

All the fun bits from Stimmt So, but with a fun theme.

This is a perfect light three player card game, it doesn't work well with any other number. Throw out the "Steal a Villain" card and it is a tremendous system.

Shame on me for saying this:
Despite the fact that I've never mentioned it to new players, every game I've played this with have wanted to turn it into a prostitution game. You are playing rival pimps and you are using the girls to get differing valued johns.

Seriously, the theme works better.

I played recently played Iceflow and while I though it was cute, I kept wanting to go back to Polar Dare.

Now don't get me wrong, the winner will be likely the player that rolls the best, but the game is so entertaining and quick that it doesn't matter all that much.

Even still, the "fix" to this game is to give every player 5 action cards or chits matching the die faces. On your turn, you roll the die, if you get the bear you move the bear, if not you flip one of your cards to see how many action points you get. Once you've used your cards you shuffle them all up and flip them over again. This keeps the excitement, but adds regularity and doesn't make it too systematic.

It is another wonderful kooky racing game.

You have a hand of cards that determine movement moving you either up and/or over in different directions. You have to manage your way around buildings, clouds and fellow players as well as through jetstreams in order to make it to the finish line. The magic is fun and crazy and the clouds will change so you need to be willing to shift your way through things.

Players can knock you out of the sky so beware!

Lots of fun, and the art is so beautiful.
