For those of you new to this list, I originally posted this list back in 2006 as a way to let my Santa know when I receive my gift without him/her worrying about divulging their identity. The list has gone well in the last two years and I am curious how large it will grow this year since there are around 1000+ participants this year (529 items in 2006, 874 items in 2007). This is a pretty good place to view the gifting as it progresses through the holiday season, so enjoy!

Use this as a central area to record what our Secret Santas sent us. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile so your Secret Santa knows to look on the list for your receipt and reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

If your Santa sends you more than one item, just list them all in one listing unless you think it makes more sense to list them separately. Remember to include any comments you want your Secret Santa to know!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous two years of Secret Santa-ing have gone on those year's versions of this list, look at these links:

Well, this may seem hard to believe, as it is only 18 November, but I received a package in the mail this morning with a sticker on the front which says "From your BGG Secret Santa". Wow!

That's certainly one very organised and efficient Secret Santa! Thank you very much, whoever and wherever you are!!

The game was mailed to me by "Green Knight Games" which is a UK retailer based only about 40 minutes up the motorway from me (and, strangely, not one that I have visited).

I haven't opened the package yet ... must resist ... and will of course post again when I do. This may be as late as 25 December, but curiosity may get the better of me before then.

Now, I need to get on with finding out how to send a game to a particular country in South America ...

Fantastic scheme, this BGG Secret Santa.

Update (20 November): My South American target's wishlist included one of my favourite games. I have now ordered and paid for it at an on-line retailer in the USA and it's started the long journey south ...

CHRISTMAS DAY EDIT:

A massive "thank you" to my Secret Santa for not one, but two, games. A copy of DOMINION and a copy of FELIX: THE CAT IN THE SACK. I am delighted with both! Thank you very much, whoever and wherever you are!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Well today a package arrived on my doorstep...I'm expecting several packages so I just dove right in and opened it. Inside was a brand spanking new copy of Le Havre. But wait a minute, I didn't order Le Havre. So I look closer at the return address and next to it in pen is written "not from your secret santa ".

Thank you Santa for your generosity! You Rock!

Update: I looked up the name on the package return address (couldn't help it)....there is a user with the name in the database, so I think I know who my Santa is

Update to previous update...I was totally duped! My Secret Santa just informed me via GeekMail that he basically had the order shipped to me via someone in a country other than his....he totally fooled me.

Good Job Santa! And thanks again.

Hey Santa,

you rock, thanks for the great game. No, I haven´t opened the parcel, so i haven´t been bad... but I have been a little slow on the uptake.

Here´s the story (to justify my forbidden knowledge):
Do you know these great things called "Packstation" in german? Those are "slot"machines for the german postal service. You get a note when a package arrives, so you can get your parcel anythime you want. You just have to use a special card to log into the station.

So after a long day at work I come home to find such a note in my mailbox. I´m happy but a little confused - which of my preorders could it be? I decide to get the package in the evening before I visit a friend. Thought and done. After retrieving the parcel from the station, I´m bumped - a big box from amazon what could it be. What´s this, a sticker on the giftwraped parcel "Somebody has made you a gift". Great! My mind races who could it be? Sadly secret santa doesn´t come to my mind. But wait, there is a envelop, I open it and I see the buyers adress from UK and sadly, despite being no invoice, there is the content of the (still wraped) box.

Two thoughts flood my brain - AWESOME! and "Du Hornochse" (you know those things from 6nimmt). After jumping up and down in my car (because I´m happy not because I´m mad at me) I notice the printed note from amazon on the envelop something like "Don´t spoil the surprise - open the box first." If I had read this note, I would probably waited till christmas but to late. I still have the resolve to wait till the 24th - we see which month cool .

Dear Secret Santa, I hope you are not disappointed about the accidental discovery. You made my day a real happy one. Thanks and have a good time till christmas (and after that of course). I wish your secret santa is as awesome as you.
Thanks
Jan

*EDIT* - I managed it! I waited from November 19th right through to Christmas morning, to find this splendid box inside. The church chaps will all be very happy, and I'm completely chuffed! Thank you Santa!

Wow! That was fast!

This isn't a placeholder, 'cos I have received my parcel, but I don't know what it is yet.

I'm not looking. I've managed it two years previously, so I can manage it again. It's going to be a very, very long haul, but I'll have the support of my wife, who is very good at hiding presents and so I'm confident I'll make it to 25/12 with the wrapping intact...

Thank you Santa

*EDIT* - Got home from work, wife confirms intact and safely gift-wrapped (thanks to Nick & Sue at Shire Games, I imagine...) and a tantalising note about the Church Chaps Game Night! How am I going to stand the wait‽ Have now been sent away whilst concealment procedures are invoked... Britannia

Just got in and there is a package from IGUK there and I know I haven't got anything on order. So it only means one thing. My Santa is on the ball and weirdly enough knows my favorite supplier.

So tempting to open it up and see what there, especially as I have a board game meet over the weekend. But I am going to try and hold out till at least December.

Thanks Santa.

Well my resolve lasted about 10 mins. After posting I had to check my wishlist to remind myself. Puerto Rico! Cheers Santa, I can finally get to give this classic a go.

Came home today and I was a bit in a hurry. Had a dentist appointment and had to eat fast cause the sedation would make that impossible afterwards. My wife told me that there was a parcel at my neighbors house (giving me the look of "not another boardgame"). We're never in during delivery time and they always drop my stuff there. I was a bit confused at first cause my last orders came in a week ago, but then I knew it had to be my Secret Santa. A lot earlier than expected cause I haven't been taunted yet.

Ran to my neighbor, jumped in my car and raced to the dentist. Came back fully sedated (but otherwise well). So I'm biting my tongue and can't even feel it. I opened the box cause I still need to buy other Christmas presents and my Santa did not tell me not to open it. And behold: A FFG bigbox game! Starcraft! Santa, you're the best! I almost feel guilty about leaving such an expensive game on my list. You rock!

Wow! surprise The fastest Santa delivery ever - also from Green Knight Games. I had an idea something was afoot when I received an email telling me a package was on its way, although I hadn't ordered anything. I thought it might be from Santa. On the other hand, Christmas is still weeks away.

When I arrived home today I found my neighbours had a package for me. The games shop had thoughtfully written on the outside of the box that the contents were gift-wrapped, so there was no danger of spoiling the surprise by opening it up. So I did:

It's very exciting. Last year I managed to wait until Christmas day to open the presents - I hope Santa doesn't mind if I do the same this year. Thank you very much!

Maybe this will put me in the right frame of mind to start buying presents for relatives, instead of leaving it until Christmas Eve which has been known in the past...

Secret Santa, you totally rock!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Okay, before you scold me for opening my present already, let me explain. No, there is too much; let me sum up.

I had received a message yesterday from my Secret Santa that a lump of coal was on its way, and a USPS tracking number was included. Today I'm home with a sick kid, so I've been spending a lot of time online. I decided to check the USPS website, and it said the package was already delivered to the local USPS unit. Sure enough, the mail lady delivers a package from Troll & Toad.

Well, I didn't open it at first, but then I started rationalizing. I'm signed up to run three boardgame events at the upcoming Wintercon convention on Dec. 6. I figured if there is a newly released game in the box, then I owe it to my fellow local gamers to open the box and learn the game in time for the convention. That a good reason to open my present, right? RIGHT? shake

Clearly, I convinced myself to open the shipping box. I could tell an unwrapped game was hidden under the packing peanuts. I had this one last chance to close the box and wait until Christmas.

Nope, not going to happen. I pulled back the peanuts to reveal Battlestar Galactica! My SS got the top game on my Must Have list. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas!

UPDATE: I took BSG to Wintercon with the expectation that I would have no problem finding people to play it. However, after a few people had signed up and then decided to cancel, I ended up not having any players! I think the 3-5 hour play time scared people away. Regardless, I fulfilled my obligation and soothed my guilt for opening the present so early. Besides, my friends and I have played BSG three times already, and we have our first 6-player game planned for Dec. 13. We are obsessed with the game right now. This really was the best Christmas gift I could have received.

Well, after some deliciously absurdist taunts, Santa arrived a little ahead of schedule this year!

I haven't opened the box in case it's not wrapped; we shall see how long I can wait to open it. Certainly until after Thanksgiving. Right? Right.

But I'll be back to update when I finally crack...

Update!

Well, that didn't take long. And a good thing, too, cause now I can officially say OMFG!wowgoo

First up:

Awesome, I've been jonesing for my own copy of this since I moved a few months ago.

Then:

Brilliant! I've never played it, but I hear it makes the game much trickier. Santa is super generous!

But we're far from done:

This is where the wow factor really starts to kick in (and me starting to be really glad our table has a leaf...)

There's more:

At this point I'm beginning to wonder if my Secret Santa is in fact Cthulhu.

And more:

I'm glad we've got a four day weekend coming up, this is going to be a hell of a game of Arkham...

And then:

I assume Santa threw this in so that I can learn how to properly dispose of all those Cultists.

So there we are, and Santa, I'm flabbergasted. Your generosity is overwhelming, and it reinforces how proud I am to be a member of this community.

THANK YOU!

The other day I received a geekmail from my Santa. He/she said they looked over my wishlist and decided to get me their favourite game from my list. Plus a little something extra they thought would be a hit with my family and friends. This little piece of Christmas cheer had me really excited.

Today at work I got a call from my wife saying that there was a parcel jammed into the postal box but she couldn't get it out. She couldn't tell where it was from or who it was for, but I had a hunch. When I got home I called for the dog, and I took him out for a quick walk over to our street's mail box. I opened our mailbox and the key to one of the larger mailboxes was in there. Sure enough, when I opened the larger door, the package was wedged in there pretty tight. It wouldn't fit past the lock. I could have left a note for the mailman to put it into the largest mailbox tomorrow, but I decided there was no way I was leaving without taking that box home tonight. It took me almost 10 minutes to pry that sucker out of there, and I managed to damage the box a bit in the process.

The box was addressed to me from Fun Games Cafe. Woohoo! I took it home and asked my wife to open it to see if it was giftwrapped inside. It was, and I excitedly pulled out a beautifully wrapped package of a small and medium sized box, along with a pair of dice from Fun Games Cafe! Thanks Paul and Abby, great wrapping job!

I'm pumped to find out what my Secret Santa got me. I hope I have the fortitude to make it until Christmas. Thanks Secret Santa!

Post Christmas Edit:

Thank you Secret Santa, I love the games! I managed to make it until Christmas day and eagerly ripped open the packages to find:

Mr. Jack

and

Saboteur

Yesterday I had two games of Mr. Jack with my wife and enjoyed it quite a bit. With little experience, it is proving to be a bit of a brain burner, but in a good way!

On a games night last Saturday, I played Saboteur with several friends. It was a lot of fun. I love being a saboteur, but it seems to be hard for them to win. I have to refine my strategies.

Not only that but in addition my secret santa went off list, actually gave it some thought and sent me Cartagena as well. Defintiely a game that I have always wanted to get but never actually got around to buying.

So wallow in your jealousy for no other santa shall be as good as mine.

THANKS!!!!!!!

A package arrived for me today while I was out and was left with a neighbour.

I thought it might have been some of the games that I had ordered myself, but when I went to collect the package, it turned out to be my Secret Santa gift!

I had butterflies, which was pretty awesome, since I don't get nearly as excited about events as I should.

The box was HUGE and my curiousity overwhelming. Normally I'd wait patiently to open a gift, but since its only the 20th of November, there was no way that my willpower was going to hold out for a month, so I decided to take a peek into the mysterious box.

Enclosed was a brand-spanking new copy of Shogun! My Secret Santa is most generous and I can't wait to get around to playing it!

Thanks Santa.

I just received a package today with not 1... not 2... but 3 of the top games on my wishlist! These are all games that I can play with over the holidays with relatives!! Woohoo! Thanks secret santa.

Somehow santa knew that he shouldn't get me Dominion (even though it was on my wishlist). I couldn't wait and bought it myself on Sunday to play with my wife. Her comments on the game: "That wasn't too bad."

My comments focus on how tired I am since I stayed up till 4am two nights in a row for solo play! soblue

Santa, please send gaming buddies next year!

I'd just like to thank Shire Games for so carefully and thoroughly giftwrapping my Secret Santa presents (two! One big and one little!) inside the main packaging yuk

Now I have to really decide whether to open before Christmas...

EDIT: OK, I was so spoilt by the Wargamers' Secret Santa, here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/37090, and worried that one of these gifts might be what another friend was buying for me, that I opened this one up...

I get GREAT Santas!
Silent War

- I didn't buy this for myself because it was too expensive! And NOT what I thought it was...
Zombies!!! 6: Six Feet Under

This one's been sitting teasing me on my FLGS wall for ages!

I'm a happy wargamer...

Wow, Santa was quick. Package was waiting today from FunGamesCafe this afternoon. After Santa discovered I was a Sens fan, I was promised American Idol Monopoly. Thankful, Santa relented

Now I will have to see how long I resist the nicely wrapped temptation (complete with Christmas Dice)

Well, thank you to my Secret Santa for Agricola! I'm sure this will get lots of play time with out gaming group! Merry Christmas

Holy quick Batman! Got home a bit early today and there's the package I was expecting from an eBay auction I'd won...only it wasn't. It was Ticket to Ride: Märklin, A Game of Thrones: A Clash of Kings Expansion, AND A Game of Thrones: A Storm of Swords Expansion!

What an incredible, fast, and generous Secret Santa. My wife will love TTR:M and I'll love the rest.

Have an joyous Christmas season Santa, thank you for kicking mine off with a bang.

Edit: Can't Splel wirth beens.

WOOOOO-HOOOOOOO!

International Secret Santa, you rule!

I'd say more, but I gotta go play!

edited to add: it looks like in my haste to play, Santa and I set some kind of BGG record.
24 Hours from Send to Play!

edited to add: Dude! My secret Santa rocks! Today I got a follow-up to my (new family fave) shown left. A crinkled plain envelope arrived, and what did I find inside?

, which looks like a lot of fun,

and

, which should be great in a 2-couple household!

We'll break them out as soon as everyone's home for the holidays.

THANK YOU SECRET SANTA!

Santa, you rock!
I came home to this today.
It was marked "BGG Secret Santa" right on the package, but I opened it anyway. On Thanksgiving I'm heading to my folks house, then the next week my in-laws are coming for a week stay, so I'll be doing a lot of gaming, and didn't want to leave out my new gift!

I also got one of those "Who goes first" spinner as a bonus! Score!

Thanks so much!
