For those of you new to this list, I originally posted this list back in 2006 as a way to let my Santa know when I receive my gift without him/her worrying about divulging their identity. The list has gone well in the last two years and I am curious how large it will grow this year since there are around 1000+ participants this year (529 items in 2006, 874 items in 2007). This is a pretty good place to view the gifting as it progresses through the holiday season, so enjoy!

Use this as a central area to record what our Secret Santas sent us. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile so your Secret Santa knows to look on the list for your receipt and reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

If your Santa sends you more than one item, just list them all in one listing unless you think it makes more sense to list them separately. Remember to include any comments you want your Secret Santa to know!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous two years of Secret Santa-ing have gone on those year's versions of this list, look at these links:

There was a box from Thought Hammer waiting on my front doorstep when I got home yesterday. It was rather larger than I expected, as this was the clue my Secret Santa sent:

Quote:
Three shall be the days of the shipping and the days of the shipping shall be three. Eight is right out. Once the number three, being the days of the shipping, be reached, then thou gift shalt hath arrived and the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ...

With Monty Python Fluxx on my wish list, I assumed my Secret Santa to be suffering from the lousy economy, assumed the obvious... ...and was completely snookered, missing the "eight" in the quote.

Imagine my surprise upon ipening the box to find not only Shadows over Camelot, which I've long had on my wish list, but Shadows over Camelot: Merlin's Company as well! Thank you, Secret Santa. Oh, and since you signed your missive "A Loser", can I assume you are a paricipant in the Consolation Chain I started on the Board Game Geek Chain Of Generosity geek list?

I've been trying to buy this on eBay for months. It arrived yesterday (Tuesday) at work and I was so fired up once I saw what it was. I had a hard time figuring out what it was from the outside of the box. Of course, I had no patience and had to open it right away.

I think it's the Canadian version as it's in English and French.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Just got in from what I laughingly call work and there is a parcel from Shire Games. Opened it up, as I had ordered some animeeples from them, thinking what a big box for a small packet of wooden bits. And lo, it came to pass that it's a pressie from Secret Santa, nicely gift wrapped.

I will keep it till Christmas morning, but thank you very much SS - I will have hours of fun trying to guess what it is.

It's Boxing Day, so now I know. Thank you SS - you scored a home run with this one. 8D

Merry Christmas all.

My package arrived in the mail over the weekend. I knew that this had to be from my BGG SS, as I was not expecting any other packages.

The box sat in my home office for a few days, while I pondered opening it, or waiting until Christmas morning. I sent a message off to Santa letting him know that the package was received. The repsonse back was that this is a stocking stuffer and that there is more to come so open it at anytime! WOW! This is way beyond my expectations! It's hard to beleive that more is on the way!

So I open the box to find a note inside stating to go ahead an open it. Inside are some pages to the Boston Globe. Beneath that is a layer of bubble wrap. I try to peek through the bubble wrap to see if I can make out or recognize what it could be. I can't tell! Oh my what in the world is this??? Then after removing the bubble wrap I can see that the box is wrapped in holiday gift wrap. Well, I just need to open it some more. Then with the skill of a surgeon, I peel back the tape and paper to reveal an item that I have been thinking about since the beginning of summer! I almost bought this to give as a gift to a family member, but I never followed through.

My Secret Santa is awesome, And a pretty good guy for a Kansas Jayhawk fan.

So now it seems I should more to come! The suspense is killing me! What else is there? I don't think I could be any more joyful than this, but I am willing to try!

Thank you Santa! Have a Merry Chirstmas! Looking forward to your next package!

So, I get home last night - quiet but frustrating day at work, and there's a package from Boards and Bits on my doorstep. I hadn't placed an order recently, so I knew it had to be from my Secret Santa! (He'd warned me something was coming...)

So, I pick up the box. DAMN. That's heavy! Lead lining? Tinfoil hats?

I have about 15 minutes of patience before I open it. What was on my list that was so heavy? It was too small to be Roads & Boats, and I already own two copies of that.

Yay! Conflict of Heroes! Nice job, Santa! Pretty much the top of my wishlist.

Then it occurred to me that through the demo at WBC, and playing it for our Two Sides blog that I'd never actually picked up the box before - no way I could have known it was that heavy...

And, the best part is Santa says this is only part one of my gift... part two is due in the early days of 2009. Perfect! That's about the same as my birthday.

Santa's cool. Tres cool.

Well I have had a note from Shire Games that they are currently holding my secret Santa Pressie or I should say Pressies for me. Apparantly there a three bits to my Secret Santa.

THANKS A BUNCH SANTA WHOEVER YOU ARE.

I haven't opened it yet but I have worked out it is Mykerinos and the Nile Expansion after measuring and shaking the beautifully wrapped pressie with most games in Nick's shop to find out what it is.

There is an extra wrapped Pressie which I have no idea what it is. HMMMM!!!!

Thanks so much Secret Santa! Now, I know I opened my gift early, but as your elves have heard me quote the movie "The Ref" so much, I figured you'd know I'd open it early:

Connie: We can't open presents until midnight.
Gus: Why not?
Connie: Because it's not Christmas until midnight.
Gus: Well, guess what? We're changing the rules a little bit, okay? We're going to open the presents now, not later, now. Why? Because we're adults and we can open the presents...WHENEVER WE WANT!

Not only did my Santa give me Red November, but I also got Funny Friends!

Excellent choices, if I do say so myself. Thanks again Secret Santa!

Thanks Secret Santa!

When I got an anonymous email from my Santa saying that he was glad to get a wargamer as his target I knew this was going to be good. But I was still surprised that not only did I get this awesome game I have been dying to try, he even included three counter trays! Not her is a gamer of high character and excellent taste! Thanks ever so much. Now I just have to decide if I have to wait until Christmas to open the game up...

My wife told me the following before I could stop her, so I inadvertently got my Secret Santa present early (not that I would've waited - I never have yet).

When I called home from my work trip, my wife told me she has been cleaning the house in preparation for the family coming over for Thanksgiving. Of course in doing so, she had to put up all the boardgames which never found their way back to any of the game cabinets. She put away the games by the bed, the games on the computer desk, etc. After finally finishing and putting all the boardgames back where they belong the doorbell rang and there was a box. Not knowing what to expect, she opened the box and BAM! there was another game for her to find space for in the already brimming games cabinets.

Thanks a lot Santa! We played this one several months ago at a convention and my wife really liked it, so I already know this game is a hit, we'll get lots of good gaming in when I finally get around to returning to home.

Again, thanks!

Santa's package has arrived via a tall brown-clad elf who looked suspiciously like the King Of Queens.

This seemed like a bad omen, to be sure.

However, the package weighed 12lbs! This is about five and a half kilograms, almost one stone, and the equivilent of six two-pound lobsters!

Clearly this was exciting, because, as we all know, good things come in big packages!

So, I did the obvious thing... I brined a turkey. I know, I know, but the in-laws are counting on me.

Once it was soaking, however, I tore into the box and found the Numero Uno on Boscorooty's wishlist, Formula D!!

Beneath it was the little Essen08 Formula D promo car, and extra driver!

Beneath that, was a game I've heard about, wanted to try, but never played: Colosseum!

I can't thank my Santa enough. Allegedly a Laplander, his generosity has gone above and beyond the call of duty. I can only hope that my target, who has displeased Santa by refusing to respond to a single taunt, is as happy as I am.

Thank You!

I came home Monday afternoon from the university and found a small
note from the Finnish Postal Company saying that they had tried to
deliver a package for me but since no one was home, they had taken it
back to the local post office from where I should pick it up myself. I
knew this had to be from my Secret Santa as he had given the tracking
number for the package in an earlier geekmail and I knew it should
arrive any day this week.

Well, needless to say was so excited that I just had to go and get the
package right away. It was a nicely sized box from amazon.de. My SS
had written that my "games" were on the way so I knew there might be
more than one game inside. My excitement wasn't wearing down, quite
the opposite. The problem was I hadn't decided whether I should open
the box or not. I just couldn't decide. I think I have never opened a
Christmas present before Christmas, but never have I received a
Christmas present this early either! It just seemed impossible to
decide. My girlfriend was laughing at me as I had this much trouble
deciding whether to open it or not. Well, I decided to wait one day
and see how I felt then.

The next day (Tuesday) I just couldn't wait and decided to open the
box. Inside were three (one big and two small ones) so beautifully
giftwrapped presents that I just could not open them! (each of them
also had a little Christmas card with the text "Merry Christmas from
your BGG Secret Santa" on them) I was overly joyed with the gifts and
I decided to leave them till December 24th (which is when Finns
usually open their gifts). I quite confident that I can wait till then.

Anyways, participating in Secret Santa 08 has been lots of fun for me(and this is my first time). And the best part is that it's not even close to being over yet! Thanks to everyone involved, it's been fun reading all the posts. And thank you very very very much my Secret Santa, you are the best!!!

After Christmas:

Yes! Thank you Secret Santa from Canada! You picked one of the two top games in my wishlist. It's Imperial! I just went crazy when I realized it was this game as we opened presents on Christmas eve. When opening the present I first saw that the cover was quite dark, then I realized there was a map of some kind and then I saw a picture the money notes in the game and figured out that it had to be Imperial! I was overjoyed and am still. And now I'm waiting anxiously to get a chance to play it with my gaming friends. I've played Antike from Gerdts before and it was a great game so I'm really excited about this. I've already read the rules (as I've never played the game before) and after reading them I was even more happy as I realized there were so many things that I like in this game. So once again, THANK YOU, SANTA!

And oh yes, I also got

No Thanks!

and

Land Unter

Thank you!

I got a post office notification card in the mail today. Knowing that I wasn't expecting any packages for at least a week, I suspected that it was a gift from my Secret Santa.

Confirming my suspicions, I raced home from the post office to find 3 individually wrapped boxes. The first was Power Grid, which was near the top of my list.

The second box was the Power Grid Expansion deck "The New Power Plant Cards."

...and it doesn't stop there...

I also received:

Thanks Secret Santa! Your generosity will ensure that I will have a fun-packed holiday season!

Not a bad score for a newcomer to BGG!

Inside the box was not only the Starships but also a copy of

BTW, the best thing about being an agnostic atheist is just opening boxes up whenever you like.

Thanks, SS, udaman!

One day after the one-day-to-go mark, I received a package, which is strange because I haven't ordered anything in weeks.

I opened it up to find 2 wrapped boxes with a sticker reading "Merry Christmas form your BGG Secret Santa!" There was a bag of candy and a pair of very cool looking die. I have a pretty good idea of what lies underneath the wrapping paper but I promised myself I won't open my gifts before Christmas.

Can't guarantee I won't eat the candies before that though...

Edit: YESSSSS! SS you are the best, Mr. Jack and Mr. Jack Extension. My girlfriend was very happy too, I can see that game hit the table a lot this year. Thank you, whoever you are.

WooHoo! My SS picked a good one for me!

And it arrived even before Thanksgiving!

Thanks very much, Santa, I look forward to getting into this one!

Whoops - may have been mistaken and this one now showing was my actual regular SS gift while the other - CoH - may be from my Wargame SS.

Also in this most recent package was:

Ticket to Ride: Switzerland

Santa had sent me a message saying that since I had been reasonably good this year, I should expect at least the Mr. Jack Extension... I wasn't sure entirely how to interpret the "at least" part of that, but my expectations weren't interpreting that to mean that I would necessarily receive anything more. I'd have been happy enough with that. So imagine my pleasure to see that Santa also sent me Last Night on Earth: Growing Hunger. Thank you, Santa. You rock, dude!

OMG... My secret santa went crazy. While I am very, very happy with what I got, I think my secret santa spent way too much on me (even though i really appreciate it). In honor of my unknown secret santa being so generous with me, i'm going to do my best to pay it forward by doing more for my secret santa target.

So, without further adieu (sp?), I present my presents. In addition to CC:M, I received:

and if those two weren't enough:

Again, so many thanks to my secret santa for making my xmas great.
