For those of you new to this list, I originally posted this list back in 2006 as a way to let my Santa know when I receive my gift without him/her worrying about divulging their identity. The list has gone well in the last two years and I am curious how large it will grow this year since there are around 1000+ participants this year (529 items in 2006, 874 items in 2007). This is a pretty good place to view the gifting as it progresses through the holiday season, so enjoy!

Use this as a central area to record what our Secret Santas sent us. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile so your Secret Santa knows to look on the list for your receipt and reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

If your Santa sends you more than one item, just list them all in one listing unless you think it makes more sense to list them separately. Remember to include any comments you want your Secret Santa to know!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous two years of Secret Santa-ing have gone on those year's versions of this list, look at these links:

Yesterday, at Saint Nicholas' eve, the door bell rang. When I opened the door, nobody was there anymore. But someone had dropped a large envelope and then left in a hurry. The envelope came from the Netherlands and was wrapped nicely in Christmas paper. Then it struck me: This came directly from Sinterklaas himself!

I opened the envelope this morning because this is how we celebrate Saint Nicholas' day here in Germany, and I was very excited to find:

Die Siedler von Catan: Rincewind und der Tourist / Die Gilden von Ankh-Morpork

and

Die Siedler von Catan: Rincewind und der Tourist / Die Gilden von Ankh-Morpork

and

Monopoly: Perry Rhodan

and

Wie verhext!: Der brodelnde Theriak

Thank you Secret Sinterklaas! Although I have been to Essen myself this year, I missed these goodies completely. So I am very happy to have them now, and don't worry, they will hit the table soon, my gaming friends have all the necessary games .

And the best thing is: My Secret Santa is sending me another game for Christmas! This is just awesome, I can't wait... wow

Yay! My secret santa package has arrived. Thank you, Santa, whoever you are. The box is big and very tempting, however I am a good girl and shall wait for Christmas.

Edit:

I opened my secret santa gift on christmas day. I got Shear Panic (signed by the designers with a personal message), Glory To Rome and two books (also signed by the author aka secret santa). Thank you very much to my not so secret santa, it really made my christmas!!!!

100 geekgold for OverText, and all I got was this stupid sentence.
I totally disregarded my secret Santa's instructions, and opened my package as soon as it came, instead of waiting for Christmas. Sorry, Santa, but my family requested that I make sure my game wish list was up to date!

Anyway, my santa sent two games off my wish list--Hanging Gardens and Glory to Rome, which was a very pleasant surprise! I may bring Glory to Rome to today's game day, in case someone there can teach it.

Red light flashing, and they are off and unwrapping in the Christmas Day Stakes...

I got this one, right off my wishlist and it got played a couple of times on Christmas Day with my niece and nephew (and I lost both times).

Nice choice Santa...now, who to thank?

And I got a nice little treat with it too, a game called Frog (which seems to have a very low profile so far on BGG):

Well I have a gift.

It came via Caterpillar Games and it is in lovely paper.

And there is a second game in there.

I have a longish flat box and possibly a pack of cards on top.

AWESOME!!

Kudos to the gift wrapper only at this stage.

It is the first game received in the house, and the only one under the tree so far. We are not at home for Christmas so it still has 200+ kilometres to travel before being opened.

Wheee.

Its Saint Nicholas Day, and a mysterious package from Amazon arrived. Since i did not want to spoil the surprise, I had someone a friend open it for me to make sure it was giftwrapped. It was, and came with the single-line note

"From your BGG Secret Santa"

Actually, that was the first thing i heard of my Santa. No messages, no hints or taunts. Just a big package. What a pleaseant surprise. My friend told me it was someone from the UK and threw the delivery note away.

Man, the waiting was really killing me, but i think I'll get over it Thanks a lot Santa, whoever you are! The package of course not be opened before December 25th

Merry christmas to all of you!

Late Christmas Update (due to skiing holidays):
The package contained Pandemic. The game has been played twice in the past 2 weeks and i really like it

Hooray!!! I received my package today, exactly like my Secret Santa said I would. Now I had every intention to be a good boy once I saw that they were nicely wrapped. But then my roommate walked into the room, and the next thing I know I am unwrapping the gifts, (stupid peer pressure). I'm glad I did now though cause not only did I get TransAmerica (which comes with the vexation expansion now),and a game I have wanted for sometime: I got

and

Which will be great when I go home for the holidays.

Also I got gift from Santa's helper elf Bobo, a random trophy with a magic lamp on top of it. (Awesome) And I got a little baggie with Rubium in it marked with a danger sticker. (Awesome as well)

Thanks Santa and Bobo for the awesome package of fun, it was really a great, first time secret santa for me.

Woohoo! My Secret Santa did me a big favor! Very exciting to find BSG waiting for me.

One word of warning, likely so late that everyone knows it already, Fairplay games sent me an email to let me know exactly what game was being sent to me and from whom. So, there was really no point in waiting until Xmas. So:

Pro: I get to play the game tomorrow
Con: One less present under the tree

Just a little warning for anyone using Fairplay games...

I got home from two straight weeks traveling for work. I had been expecting a package from Amazon.com, but my girlfriend called and said that when she picked up the package, there was another one waiting for me! I debated opening it, and finally decided to, because I would be leaving again soon for work and Christmas back in Michigan. I peeked inside and saw Pompeii!

And then, as I pulled the game out, I saw

Yippie! I've been wanting both of these games for quite a while, and now I finally have them! I'll be taking these and the rest of my game collection back home to play with my family all Christmas.

Thanks, Santa! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Today my Secret Santa's helper arrived and handed me a pretty big package! Well I am assuming it was from Santa since on the return address it said 'Santa'.

Well as I opened the box I told myself that if things were wrapped then I would put them under the tree and wait for Xmas day and if they were not wrapped then I was meant to see and play with the goodies. As you will see that all went out the window in my frenzy of gift opening once I saw what was in the box! laugh

Here is what I found when I opened the box:

A card for me!!!! The card, along with wishing me a merry Xmas also had instructions that told me I could wait or open immediately. GAH! A choice!!!!

Well after digging a little through the peanuts this is what I saw.

An actual stocking with GOODIES INSIDE! Santa you ROCK!

After emptying out the peanuts I found that there were TWO games wrapped up in there plus the FULL stocking!

And here is what I found once I emptied the stocking!

And these wonderful games were the wrapped items!

I cannot wait to try Pandemic with my wife. I have wanted to get a copy of this for sooo long. And to add Citadels which I have heard so much about just makes it that much more special to be a part of the BGG Secret Santa.

Thank you sooo much Santa, I guess I really was a good boy this year. My family and I really got a kick out of some of the 'stocking items', especially the jellybean pooping reindeer! laugh
Thank you for all of the time and effort, It has really made my Holiday that much more fun!!

Here is to the BEST Secret Santa ever!!!!

Whoo!

Santa sent me a brand spanking new copy of Dominion and even included card sleeves!

I've already enjoyed several plays and look forward to many more.

The only thing I could have asked for more is....something from his home country! The FLGS folks who shipped the package left all the contact info on the invoice they included, so yes, I'm afraid my Santa isn't so secret after all.

Regardless, I'm sure I'll get much enjoyment out of it and look forward to the new decks to come to keep me enjoying for a long time to come.

THANKS!

It's about time that I remove the placeholder and give my Secret Santa his props.

I received a quick note from Santa on the 26th stating as soon as the turkey settled, s/he'd pack up my gifts and send them along. Three days later, s/he confirmed the package was on it's way with instructions to open the small gift first while allowing me to decide when to open the main gift. By Monday the 1st, my package had arrived!

I ripped into the little package and discovered a very thoughtful Christmas ornament of my avatar! What I nice little personal touch. And since the package shipped from a suburb of Boston, I can only assume my Secret Santa is a dreaded NE Patriots fan! So it must have killed them to craft this! I am thinking if I can get a better picture of it (unfortuantely, the white on silver is hard to capture), I might update my avatar for the month.

For the main gift, I decided to wait a bit. Christie was supposed to receive her gift just a few days later so I placed mine under the tree. But the anticpation was killing me as I shook and sized up the package. I was fairly certain the gift was Railways of Europe. I didn't have my Railways of the World handy, but it was the same footprint as my 1st edition Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery. And this image was helpful in my investigation!

Christie's gifts were delayed a few days but arrived after work on Saturday. She was exhausted and decided opening gifts was the pick-me-up she needed. So we opened the boxes and spread out our haul. My gift is the tan one with red Santas and a bonus gift from Christie's Secret Santa to me is the smaller of the blue gifts.

(10 Bonus GeekGold to the first person to correctly ID all nine, yes, nine, games in the background. Hint: 2 on the left are the same and 2 are peaking between the standing gifts. The most difficult will be the one with only a corner exposed under the tree skirt!)

As expected, my new gift was Railways of Europe! I have been looking forward to a serious game of Railways of the World but unfortunately, my table is too small to get a full game going. We have had to settle for a modified 2-player version on a single board to try this out. So I was happy to discover RoE was a smaller board that fits perfectly on my table. We can now play a full game and I can't wait!

As a bonus, Christie's Secret Santa decided to send along a bonus gift to me as well. They looked up my wishlist and saw that I had wanted a copy of Freight Train. It's a fun little game I played many years ago with my old college roommate and I wanted to try it again. They decided they no longer needed their copy. While it was not new, it was in great condition with everything present and accounted for! So thanks to my "second" Secret Santa as well!

But the biggest surprise came a bit later on. While setting up for the pictures, the lid came off of RoE. I noticed my Secret Santa had added some cardboard strips to keep the components in place but nothing struck me as odd. A little later on, I had a few spare minutes to read through the rules. As I opened the box a second time, I removed the cardboard but I was confused why the board was so small compared to the box. For a split second, I was frustrated with Eagle Games for "pulling a Tropical Games" and putting a smaller board in a larger box (a la AoE:3). Then I saw "Power Grid" on the board and realized that my Secret Santa snuck in a second game: the Power Grid: China/Korea expansion! Since the cities are so familar to me in the Power Grid world, I didn't immediately recognize anything out of place in the RoE box; I just assumed it was the RoE map!

Unfortunately, we were short on time and we managed to simultaneously kill the battery and fill up the data card with digital photos. So I have no picture of the PG map from that night. But here's a stock photo anyway:

A super big thank you to my Secret Santa, whoever you are! The gifts are great and will bring many hours of enjoyment to our house and our friends. Though the wrapping was a giveaway , the surprise of a hidden gift more than made up for it!!! Thank you very much and have a very Merry Christmas!

And now, Christie's version of the events of that night...

I came home from a hard days work only to find a large package with my name on it!

My husband, Coltsfan76, and I sat together on the living room floor and spread out our haul. It was such a delightful sight that we took a picture for you all!
(You can see it in the tread above mine.)
My Santa was so gererous that they even sent a game for him!!!!

The first thing I tore into was a gift from my Secret Santa's home town......Yummy Spicy Brown Mustard!!! I just had to taste it before I went any farther

As you can see my Santa also blessed me with a copy of Lupus in Tabula!!!!! I know that it will be a hit with our group of friends.

I let him peak at all mine before I opened any to see if he thought it may be for him. He found Freight Train and with a HUGE grin ripped open the paper! (like a kid on Christmas morning)

Then it was back to me!!! I opened JAMAICA!!!!

Ever since our honeymoon there in September I have been going through withdrawls. (I even bought a Bob Marley CD to ease the pain)
So, this is awsome. This game was ment for me....even the rules are written in treasure map format!

I was so happy, I didn't think the day could get any better.
Then I remembered I had one more present!!!!!
To my surprise, it was Duck, Duck, Go!!!!!!! I love those rubber duckies!!!
[ImageID= 328387]

Here is a picture of all of our gifts. (minus the Power Grid board that was hidden in his Rails of Europe game he had yet to discover)

I am in complete awe of my Secret Santa. Not only did they get me 3 AMAZING games but they also gave their own personal touch by sending me some tastey mustard!

Thank you Secret Santa you truely went above and beyond!!!!!!

A mysterious package from Santa arrived at my house on Friday, December 5th.

At first it appeared to be an ordinary brown box, but opening it up triggered some sort of hidden programming and it was revealed to be...

...a frakking Cylon!

It wasn't gift wrapped, but even if it had been I doubt the wrapping would have survived more than a few seconds after opening the shipping box.

True story:

OK so I go to my FLGS a few weeks back to get this game because we were playing Arkham later that night. They didn't have it. I asked about the Race For The Galaxy expansion, no luck there either.

I wandered the store for a bit feeling bummed (and annoyed as the store opened late and I waited 35 mins to get in. I ended up buying Dust and left.

I get home and my SS gift was there. I toyed with the idea of waiting until the big day, but who was I kidding?

I opened the gifts and found Black Goat of the Woods AND Race for the Galaxy: The Gathering Storm.

Thanks Secret Santa!!!! Your timing is fantastic (and a bit creepy)

I went out there in search of experience, to taste and to touch and to feel as much, as a man can before he repents...

I left a few instructions for my Secret Santa in my profile, hopeful that Santa would take the time to read it before making me a wonderful present. I was heading down to bgg.con and knew that I would be buying some games, so I didn't want to have Santa have the little elves make me something I already had. I wouldn't be disappointed. The morning after I returned from bgg.con I found this in my Geekmail box:

Santa wrote:
Greig,

Santa's glad to hear that you made it back from BGG.con in one piece. Hopefully you had a great time and the travel wasn't too rough.

Santa's jealous of all those new games you got to play (and even brought home!) I may need to take this into account when deciding what to bring you...

Tell me, have you been a very good boy this year?

- Santa

I was pretty much a zombie due to a complete lack of sleep over the previous five nights, but this email really raised my spirits. I immediately typed a response confirming that I had been a very good boy this past year.

The next morning I arrived at work to find another message from Santa:

Santa wrote:
Greig,

After reviewing my naughty and nice list this year, I've decided that you really have been a good boy this year. Santa always appreciates those that spend quality time with friends and family. Therefore I've dispatched some elves with something that you can share with those who are important to you.

Due to some scheduling snafus with the elven workshop and the fact that my reindeer are already going to be quite overworked, I've arranged for your present to be broken into smaller, more manageable pieces. Part should arrive via a trusty delivery service, and the other will likely be hand delivered to you.

I've contacted Paul at Fun Games Cafe and he graciously offered to be my local representative and spread some good cheer. I understand you've got plans to attend another convention in the near future, so be on the lookout for him there. I definitely agree with your recommendation of their store... with all the friendliness and helpfulness, they must be a relation of Santa!

I forgot to ask what language you'd prefer, but since everything ended up language independent, as long as you can read the rules (which appears to be not a problem at all) I think everything will work out alright. (Bonus taunting hint on what's coming.)

I thank you for the invitation to come to game day. I give the reindeer a break after Christmas is over and head to my summer home for the season, and while it would be possible for Santa to drive there from my other home, it's a decently long trip. But thanks for thinking of me.

Once my elves give me an update, I'll be sure to let you know so you can watch out for my trusty delivery service. Until then, happy gaming!

- Santa

Now here's where I start to wonder about this Santa of mine. Have I met this person before? Do they know me? The "reading the rules" part screams that a fellow werewolf player has me as their target. I frequently relate in the werewolf forums that I do not read the rules to most games I am in, I just play them and hope I hit the important parts. When gaming, I am the primary teacher of games and thus have to read the rules for all new games. Does Santa know this as well? I realize that Santa is all-knowing, but still...

Then earlier this week I received my final taunt from Santa:

Santa wrote:
Greig,

My elves definitely love milk and cookies.

I hear that one may be stopping by your place relatively soon. He was traveling through the USA and took some time off to enjoy turkey and mashed potatoes, but I hear he's back on the case.

Please keep an eye out for him - he occasionally gets lost or distracted and I'd hate for him to forget to leave your present!

- Santa

I was TOO excited. I started checking the door every morning I didn't work, but neither Monday or Tuesday presented me with a present. However, when I returned home from work on Wednesday, there was a package for me. I opened it excitedly and found Ultimate Werewolf, a MUST HAVE game from my wishlist! My Santa had already spoiled me! At bgg.con I had played a lot of werewolf with these cards and not only was the artwork cool, but there are several roles to choose from and a balance calculator with each card, meaning that it will be easy and fun to create weird rolesets.

Now all I had to do was wait until Saturday and TABScon until I met up with Santa's helper, Paul from www.fungamescafe.com. He found me pretty early and presented me with a bag of goodies! I apologize to Santa. I should have taken a picture to show you what a great job Paul, Abby and family did for you. In the bag I found not one, but TWO more games! In addition to the games I found a small bag of candy and a set of two dice from www.fungamescafe.com!!!!

It was awesome! I managed to not open the gifts right there and then, though I did get into the candy. I love chocolate! I do admit, that a little later in the day I did, maybe, sneak a peek by removing a bit of tape to see what was in the big box, but I put it back and waited until I got home that night to unwrap it properly with my wife.

Here are the games that I received:

Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries

My Ticket to Ride collection is finally complete! I've been trying to get my hands on this for quite awhile, considering paying huge prices when it was only available in Scandinavia. My wife and I are really big fans of the series and I am certain that this will have its first play later this afternoon.

Mü & More

We're big card game fans and I find it's easier to bring new gamers into the hobby with new card games. My geek buddies have great things to say about Mu & More, I have enjoyed every Frank & Doris game I've played and look forward to getting this one on the table.

Thank you Secret Santa, not only for your generosity, but for sending me geekmails along the way as well. I really had a great time waiting and trying to figure things out. Merry Christmas!

Two tightly wrapped boxes have arrived from my generous Secret Santa. I shook them both, one of them rattles temptingly. I'm very curious... But I'll wait for the 25th. (Although I'm still mulling over the peculiar riddle sent via Geekmail - is it all one big clue?)
Thanks Santa.

Santa's a generous genius. Not only did he send Rosenkonig (which I've been lusting after but struggling to find for ages) but also the extension to possibly my favourite game, Mr Jack. How happy am I? Very.
Thank you Santa.

Hey Santa,

The box arrived. Did you really have to go and have them mark it, "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL CHRISTMAS?" My wife took it from me, opened it and wrapped the game in festive paper. It looks good under the tree, but from the size and dimensions of the box I'm guessing it's a game that's been on my radar for some time. Looks like I have to wait another 17 days to find out if I'm right.

Thanks, Santa!

I came home on Friday to a decent-sized package, addressed to me, from "Santa."

"I'll be good," I thought. "Won't open it 'til Xmastime, or at least 'til a couple days before."

Yeah, that lasted about half an hour.

Inside were a number of Battletech CCG cards (my most played game, owing to a year's worth of lunches in a workplace with another player; always good to have more options!), and three individually wrapped boxes, containing:

Tichu!

Hanging Gardens!

And Middle Kingdom!

My secret Santa ROCKS ON TOAST. I love this time of year.

I got word today that a package arrived to its destination in Toronto. (It will be making its way to Israel later this month.)

It was shipped to a friend of mine's (RS) mother who is coming in a few weeks.

RS: boy do i have a story for you
RS: it was addressed to reish galuta
RS: from the north pole
RS: so she had no idea it was for you
RS: and it was delivered on a sunday!
Me: lol
RS: so she sent n8 up to try to track the address
RS: he googled reish galuta
Me: I'm the number two hit on Reish Galuta!
RS: and found you
Me: after the wikipedia entry
RS: so they worked it all out
Me: high google rank pays off
RS: but
RS: through the whole thing
RS: she made the post man wait at the door
RS: in case it was not something she wanted
RS: 20 minutes they held him captive

From her mom:
Quote:

I had no Idea what it was so I had to open the Postal Box and even at that I had no idea what it was...
or who it came from ...
I did not order anything...
It is a very heavy box of a game called Reef Encounter, manufactured by Thought Hammer and addressed to Reish Galuta ...(who could that be?)
It is 4 pounds... It came from Secret Santa?
in a big box!

Yay Reef Encounter, I've wanted this one for a while! Thanks Secret Santa! It should be here in time for Chanukah.
