Have you ever wanted to build a basketball dynasty to rival that of Wooden’s legendary UCLA teams? How about experiencing the thrill of recruiting, developing and a starting a team of Champions? What about trying to improve a run-of-the-mill team into a tournament team, all while trying to keep your job? You can do all of these things a more in Basketball Dynasty—in under an hour.

College Basketball Dynasty is a game about recruiting and developing college basketball players, while trying to qualify for the tournament and win a championship. Each player acts as the head coach of a college basketball team and has 12 years to win as many games, go to as many tournaments and win as many championships as possible. As the coach, you determine who to recruit (do you want solid season performers or the star who can win in the big game), who to develop, who to start and bench, and what style of team do you want (e.g., a group of 'team players' or bunch of talented 'individuals' who happened to play on the same team).

All this and its FREE!!!

Components:

1 Six-Sided Die
1 Rules Book
1 School Rating Chart
1 Coach Record Sheet
14 School Roster Boards
25 Red Chips
150 Blue Chips
168 Player Counters (General Supply)

Well fine, since it fits the title.

So my first patch of playetsters have failed me miserably. Or my game failed them

I did have a couple outstanding people, but most copies have gone unplayed.

So if anyone is interested in a mutliplayer CDG with a city building theme set in 1900-1930s America, let me know.

The people who have played it seem to enjoy it, and I can't think of another game quite like it (the reason for its invention).

Have you ever wanted to say something, but didn't? Well this game gives you the chance to finally say what's on your mind...

It's got cards (just like in Agricola & Dominion), a one of a kind, state-of-the-art SELECT-O-MATIC 5000 (unlike anything you've ever seen before), it raises important historic questions (like Twilight Struggle), and it comes in a box (just like Power Grid). But only Say Anything can be taught to your relatives over Thanksgiving in less than 2 minutes!

I'll get on the shameless shilling bandwagon.

Kachina is my first board game and it is being published by Bucephalus Games in early 2009. All of my playtesters have really loved this game and I think for good reason.

Kachina is a tile-laying game in the spirit of Qwirkle with a kick-ass Native American spirit theme. Use the power of the Ogre, Eagle, Sun, and Clown to dominate the other players' tiles. It's a nice strategic game for 2-5 players playable in under an hour.

It's a game of fantasy and adventure, where the players send parties of heroes to complete various quests, but with one important distinction: the gameplay is totally Euro in style. Instead of endless dice rolling and fiddly components, you have an elegant game of area control and set collection. Another plus: it is free to print & play.

On a distant planet, covered almost entirely by water, there are 3 islands with food and fuel. Each player controls one of these islands as their home base. Each player builds her own navy by selecting from a wide variety of battle boats. You can even give one player a handicap by giving them fewer boats or fewer guns.

The propellers on each battle boat push the boat forward in a straight line. You can use a combination of propellers to allow the boat to spin and change direction.

The soldiers on each battle boat may shoot their gun straight ahead. Each gun has a shield protecting the soldier and the boat from being shot. You can only sink a battle boat by shooting it in a spot that is not covered by shields.

Your goal is to outmaneuver your opponents and deliver the fatal shot to the home base of an opponent while also defending your home base from being attacked.

This is a tile laying game where you claim territories, collect resources, and construct buildings. You can also seize other players' territories and destroy their buildings (so there is a LOT of conflict).

I love tile-laying games, but I hate all of the luck in games like Carcassone and Fjords. In those two games you randomly draw 1 tile, then you must lay it, and then you may or may not claim something on THAT tile. This gives you very few choices and depends heavily on a lucky draw. I have done away with this by giving all players a "hand" of 7 landscape tiles where each player gets one tile of each possible landscape shape. Thus, everyone's tiles are equally good and no one has an advantage due to luck. Not only that, you lay more than 1 tile at a time and you can claim territory anywhere on the board (even on tiles that other players have laid). This greatly increases your choices, and thus greatly deepens the level of strategy.

Also, there are multiple paths to victory. You can play defense by protecting terrain (at the expense limiting your expansions), you can play offence by building lots of buildings (at the expense of leaving terrain undefended), and (unlike Carcassone and Fjords) you can actually seize the territory of other players and destroy their buildings.

I happen to think that this is a great little game that hasn't gotten the attention that it deserves.

Fleets 2025: East China Sea is a 2-player wargame set in the near future. It depicts naval combat between the US and China near Taiwan. It's fast-playing, highly interactive and is a good introductory wargame that can be enjoyed by more experienced wargamers.

But don't listen to me! Here's some quotes from actual players:
Quote:
Both games took about an hour and a half each to play. This is a really fine game which should see regular play by me. The card dynamics really keep both players active in each others turns and makes for little down time. Well done to all involved.

Quote:
The US attack failed to score any damage and the last Chinese attack saw their aircraft skimming in at wavetop and they managed to sink 2 American DD's and as a resul the US Politcal Will dropped and in the ensuing phase, becasue the US lowers their Political Will first, the Chinese pulled off a win by the narrowest of margins. What a roller coaster ride this is!! Definitely want to play it again.

Quote:
First impressions are very good. The game is highly interactive, fast playing and fun. You have enough options to chose from and looks like that some plays are needed to exploit game tactics to the full. The components are nice, with counters easy to read and to punch. (no super-professional knife needed).

Quote:
Excellent gameplay that has layered strategy elements due to a card deck that can multi-task (Events, Search, Orders, Battle Dice). Easy to learn and lots of dice, too.

Oh, and I have to mention that Nemo's War will be coming soon, too! Take control of the Nautilus and go sink some ships... you know you want to!

The deepest game you or anyone you know or have ever met or will ever meet will ever play. Five lines of rules, elementary components, and an infinite game tree. In the literal sense, not in the hyperbole sense. It also won a big international game design award, beating out 156 other game designs to win. The contest administrators said it was "...the most original game received for the contest in many years", which means it sort of jumped right into contests it wasn't even signed up for and beat out the games in *those* contests as well. The human mind could not produce an object of greater beauty. Right?

Playroom Entertainment was set to publish my Temple of the Monkey, but it ended up being published as Princess Bride: Storming the Castle instead!

Next in my queue is Mad Labs. Playroom reluctantly passed on this one and has encouraged me enthusiastically to pitch it to others, even offering to put me in touch and put in a good word for me. I'm still considering doing so, but am leaning towards publishing myself. I'm currently working on the artwork and refining the rules, which have been posted.

Mad Labs: The Maniacal Mix-N-Match Game of Monstrous Mayhem

As rival mad scientists, you compete to create the most powerful horde of monstrosities to rule the countryside. No! The entire province! No! The world! Bwa-ha-ha-ha!

Check it out! Anyone want to see this as a Print n' Play? (Would be A LOT of printing...)

I wanted a Space Empire game (4x) style playable in 1-2 hours and couldn't find one. So I designed one myself ...

Short game - playable in an hour, Long Game in 2. The long game is more complex and strategic than the Short Game, but I enjoy both.

I've given an overview of the short game along with a comparison between the short game and the long game. As well as the combat system

And game length

I like what the artist has done with the game (see the images uploaded)

You can pre-order it here
