In Trotofant you pull a string to wind up the central spinning apparatus. You then use those party tooter things to try and remove the branches of the tree.

Like Battling Tops, you put your little spinning top into a spring-loaded launcher (lower picture) and send them out to do battle in a bowl shaped arena. The tops have little ninja figures molded on top of them, hence the name (upper picture).

As with Merchants of Amsterdam, this is a timer device. It intentionally grinds distractingly and suddenly flips over when the time is up.
I find it quite enjoyable as a party game. Especially since it plays quickly with little downtime.
