Hi,

I've chosen Fire in the East because it was the first game when I was 13 for wich I fall in love.

Here is where my first copy rest from that day.

This is now my game room:

The rest of my Europa games collection:

Some games in the shelves

My SPI box games (the flat ones are on the other side of the room):

On the upper floor there is still a work in progress:

Just one pic for now. This is what I have acquired since I got into board-gaming in November 2009 after quitting my World of Warcraft habit. Shelves are full for now, but I'm still buying ("so many interesting titles", "collector gene running in the family" and other flimsy excuses), so I'm going to have to expand in the near future.

September 2014 Update

I've been busy in the past years. 713 items on my list when taking this photo. Artifacs in the picture are due to shitty photosphere-app, I can't step away far enough from the shelves to take a proper picture. Most expansions have been included in their respective base-game's box, if possible. Most likely, I'm going to have to pull out games and 'display' them in front of others again when SPIEL has come and gone...

How should we organize our games?

By form factor? Please.

Chromatically? Been there, done that.

We decided to arrange them thematically this time. Can you spot the categories?

Cabinet 1:

(Shelves 1 (top) and 6 (bottom) contain objects that are, tragically, not games, as does Cabinet 0 partially visible on the left.)

Cabinet 2:

My collection isn't that large yet, but it's growing. Just bought a bookcase, thinking I'd fill maybe half of it. Turns out I was wrong.

Settlers of Catan is what got me into board gaming as a hobby. I'd played Munchkin before, but Catan really got me hooked. It's in the wooden box on the third shelf.

This is my tacklebox for Memoir 44. I have more details on it here.

Started off on one shelf of a bookcase, but quickly outgrew that. Then they were scattered all over my office in piles on the floor, and that was driving me crazy, so we refinished my home office and cleared out the closet just for my games. Good news is most of my games fit in there quite well. Bad news is the closet filled up immediately, and I have no more room for games! Not sure what I'm going to do, perhaps it's time to thin the collection.

So my "rule" is that every game I own will always fit in this picture. When stuff comes in... stuff goes out. So far that has caused my collection to bounce around the 100 mark, thus my game "mascot" of choice. I'd never want a collection as big as some folks around here. Since this is a Shelf Pr0n page, does this make me the Maxim to everybody else's Hustler?

It all started with playing Settlers with my aunt and her kids during the holidays. I lost more than my fair share of games to them so they gave me the PC-version as a present one Christmas. They told me to learn the game properly. I did so and pounced on them heavily, they couldn't stand a chance from then on. All of a sudden we didn't play Settlers that often...
A few months later I discovered BSW and was hooked. My first order from Adam Spielt (R.I.P.) in 2002 contained Carcassonne, Meuterer and Tichu. These games and Settlers were the foundation of my collection. Although there are still some games from my childhood in this picture (Hexentanz, Um Reifenbreite, Kathedrale, X für O, ...) those were actually later editions to my collection as I hadn't picked them up at my parents' until having more space to actually store them.

(January 2015)
The yellow fraction starts growing. Even more are stored elsewhere for later

(July 2014)
still plain Ivar, shrinked to a width of 260 cm, but using the full 228 cm height this time

(February 2012)
storage solution: plain Ivar by IKEA (228 cm high, about 140 cm used for games, 345 cm wide)

Tikal, I chose Tikal for many reasons, first, boardgaming was like a treasure hunt at first, trying to find which ones I liked, which ones I didn't. I did a lot of thrift buys, some of them were crap, others, well, got me addicted. This is the case with Tikal, I found that one for 2,25$ (if memory serves me well). I was more than hesitant to buy a 50$ game before then, but at that price, I got to try it out and I was hooked. I bought many games afterwards.

These pictures dates.... and dates many years. I'm posting them today, knowing full well that they will have to be updated in a couple of weeks, when my gameroom is finished. I'm redoing it right now!

This was as of 2007/2008:

I've since re-arranged my games, but I don't have pictures of that.

Many games are no longer part of my collection, many were added, and a lot are still there!

EDIT:

The white sheves are old Ikea GORM shelves that I've painted (not completely though).

The brown shelves, I've bought at Home Depot and never saw them again. they are sliding shelves, they can be arranged to make a corner (like I've done) or extended to make a double-wide shelf (for the second one). Got 2 of them, yet they make up the whole wall.

mbmbmbmbmb
Why this game?
It's the first one I recall going "Oh, that sounds interesting" and then purposefully searching it out. I had games before that, but this was the start of The Collection (TM).

My Game Storage
My Games Cupboard is a hand-me-down wardrobe my parents assigned to the purpose probably before I was born (for my brother's games ). You can see it in the background of this picture (where the sunlight is hitting).

Originally it had stuff like Scrabble and Monopoly. I took it with me when I moved out of home, and it now has... Other games in it. ...Well, it still has Scrabble. There are actually still a bunch of games at my parents' place, ones that I didn't think I was going to play but are still on my "owned" list. (I wasn't wrong in that assumption; I don't think I've lamented the lack of any that I left behind.)

The only camera I have handy is my phone, so I used Pano to do it in three shots and then stitch them together into one image. The drawers aren't at quite a crazy angle as the image suggests, though they aren't properly horizontal either. They hold odds and ends, like dice and the like. (I've stolen my brother's D&D dice collection and added more, you can see the Tupperware container holding them peeking out of the upper drawer. )

My storage system: "Where ever things will fit".

I have a couple of things on order: Pizza Theory is the big one. I'm hoping the cupboard won't need re-arranging again, because I'm not sure there's a better way to do things.

In free moments, I idly consider the prospect of replacing the knock-about cupboard with something less beaten up and more task-appropriate, but I don't know what I'd pick; a lot of my stuff is very small, and most gaming storage considerations tend to focus on the large boxes. Sure, I have those, but I also don't want things like Fluxx to fall down the back and never be locatable ever again, which is what's likely to happen with open shelving. Plus, doors mean I don't have to dust the contents, which is a plus.

Picked Car Wars because it was the first game I ever bought by myself, for myself cool

We had our house rebuilt recently, and so I took the chance to have some shelves done up to hold my games and books.

Work in progress:

Mostly filled up (there were a few more items scattered in various boxes here and there):

The Games section:

As you can see, it's mostly RPGs, compared to board games. There are more games (mostly card games and my Warhammer minis, as well as a bunch of chess sets) hidden in the drawers.

The reason for the game pick is obvious if you look at the original images, there are spider webs everywhere. I decided to add my shelves but they're not so much Pr0n as the opposite. This is a tiny room only around 7' by 8', besides holding my boardgames it also serves as my painting & game creation station. My computer is also here.

This 1st image is my main games I play. Below it out of range is my crafting desk. The opening beside the panther is an old window that looks upon our bedroom wall. When our landlords added the addition they left it in, there's about a 6" gap between the 2 walls & sometimes chupacabra crawls around in there.

These games or more for more than 2 player's mostly. This is my treasure shelf, & yes that's a crystal ball. You can't see it but my computer is below this

This a mixed bag of games suitable for 2 players & games for more. Since it's usually just my husband a me I like to keep it mostly sorted that way but with apace being tight things do get put in kinda whatever. The window has a cat door in it & the purple tube is a light string.

Mostly my smaller games & my PnP builds in progress.

This is some more of my most played games. The upper 3 white shelves are mostly my PnP builds.

The lovely far left cabinet was built by husband & holds mostly magic cards. The precarious plywood thingy holds mostly card games, while the white plastic drawer is a bunch of odds & sods for PnP builds. The white drawers are mostly thrifted game parts I use in my builds.

This last one is my nostalgia shelf, it's mostly games I had as a kid or games from when my daughter was growing up.

My modest collect in prize of place in the front (games room), enough sofas for 8 people! A number of those boxes contain expansion, I've added nearly 20 games since Decemeber so going to try and slow down a bit for a while!

There is a chest below the shelf for clutter games and a shelf in the attic for 'crap' games.

Update June 12.
No new purcahases for a while although I'm waiting on 3 kickstarter games. I think there are 50 bases games on the shelves about 20 expansions / promos.

I don't intend to buy 100s of games just keep a manageble collecton which I actually play.

Update Jan 2013 Sold 9 games added 20 in 6 months,

Missing Farmers of the moor, Gunship first strike, coloretto, Drako, Drunkquest, sneak and snitches,Apples to apples, memoir 44, munchkin zombies and a few other unmentionables like operation and mousetrap

May 2015 (appears a 40% growth to around 75 items) although BGG has me at 110 or so.

The game I chose is obvious for anyone who has tried to organize their games.

I finally was able to get all my collection out of inaccessible trunks and into one place, on the drawers in my bedroom. This is most of the collection, although there are probably ~25 games in under-bed storage (traditional, small card games, and zip-lock games like VPG and Phil Eklund games).

I'm still a grad student (for at least another summer!) hence the modest shelving, although the cube shelves I thought turned out remarkably well. I hope to get Ikea shelves when I can afford them.

Half the fun was not only organizing by shape but also various categories, some of them overlapping.

Geekgold prize to whoever can spot the most categories.

I chose Mage Knight because I read a review on it on a videogame website early this year that got me thinking maybe there is something boardgames can offer. It was especially tempting because I could play it solo, allaying my fears of having noone to game with.

White box is Carc Big Box 3 and plastic bag is VPG's Dawn of the Zeds (first edition)

My collection may be small but I am quite proud of it. If I want a Euro, I have Manhattan Project. If I want a co-op, I have Flash Point. A quick light filler? Lords of Vegas. Economic Euro? Age of Industry or Power Grid. And I own Innovation, though I have no idea what to classify that as, but it may be the best blind buy risk I ever made.

Well, all started with VINCI eight or so years ago.
It was the first game I've been introduced to at a card & board gamer's club. Right after that evening my membership was sealed and still lasts on, however, because I moved away about 5 years ago I finally had to get my own collection. It took me about another three years then to really get started with it.
As you can see in the pictures I started a rush on collecting only about half a year ago...

This was in February before I reorganised and expended the shelf:

Here it is from another angle:

Here the new shelf parts have been added:

Plus the games, while I didn't have a problem with the amount of games I owned back then:

Here we have a closer look at the games. Please note that the single shelf parts are at perfect height for example KOSMOS games but they are not high enough to get the ALEA games stand upwards and thus show their "true" design:

And here's the stuff which didn't make it into the shelf because it's meant to be traded/sold:

(Some of the stuff is gone already but being replaced by even more stuff for trade; picture will follow.)

Now you could see what it looked like in February/March. I'll add pictures of my nowadays collection pretty soon. Let me tell you this already: The shelf is too small by now! ARG!

*EDIT* 2012-07-28, 10 a.m.

So this is what it looks like right now:

However, I'm going to rearrange a lot of them soon (in order to get them sorted by the publisher better, which is the major aspect of sorting them right after the boxes' shapes). Also there are quite a few games to be added, lying around some where else at the moment :-/

Also here's a cupboard where I have to keep some "minor" games right now (and in future as well, I'm afraid).

Some of the smaller games are hidden by others in the shelf at the moment. Hopefully my small expansion and rearrangement will fix this problem. But still we don't own a letter so it's going to be hard to do so

And here's the stuff to get rid of:

*EDIT* 2012-07-29, 1 p.m. - so here's another update:

Full collection:

View from side (so you can see how each level is getting closer to the wall going upwards):
