This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted games bought new. Don\'t forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
Our GeekGuild: The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Do mind the stacks of prized games. Don\'t mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Be sure to bow before our King Krazygit I, and pay your due respects to previous Kings EvilTimmy I and Blackwind I. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/193
The Order\'s Anthem:
Important Notice Data will be collected on the 19th of January in order to determine the 2008 King of the Thrifters (and other associated positions). While the exact method of determination is yet to be set, it is almost certainly going to be a variation of last year\'s and will include a combination of number of finds and thumbs received. You have until then to campaign, connive, and convince others to thumb your finds. Good Luck!
i also found this edition of rummikub. i have passed up several of these at savers because i didnt particularly want it, and $3.99 doesnt make it more attractive. but for $1 at another thrift store ill give it a try.
So I hit 5 thrift stores today on the way home from a doctor visit across town. I was thrilled to see this at one of the Goodwills. This is the first one of these I've seen.
The box was had split corners, but it looks like all the parts are there and in decent shape. Plenty of scoresheets left too. The instructions are missing but I can print those out here. My son is very excited to play this. It works great and talked to me all the way home as it doesn't have an off button.
I've never thrifted before - or rather, I've TRIED to thrift, but never found games. My luck is slowly starting to change.
Found this for $2. I just took a chance that all the parts were there. Turns out it's in almost perfect shape. Most of the pieces weren't even assembled, and nothing looks like it was ever played.
The only parts missing are the cardboard part of the fireplace & the round part of the chandelier that attaches to the round dangling post. The chandelier mechanism, however, works fine, which seems to be the main complaint with this game. Surprisingly, the 3 stickers meant to go on the chandelier are still in the box - so I wonder what happened? I'm hoping that someone else with a broken copy might be able to supply the missing pieces.
Mayfair version, 85¢. The box is totally trashed - most of the box front is stripped to bare cardboard. I haven't inventoried the parts yet, and I'm sure that many are missing, but I thought maybe someone could use the parts in trade.
Edit: After checking the contents, it looks to be about 50% complete. But I'm sure there's plenty of people that need only a few things to complete their copies. Drop me a geekmail if that's you!
