On my last "The Best" list I asked what the next one should be and Dexterity Games got by far the most votes, so here it is...

These are the best Dexterity games I could find on BGG. I have also included some of the most popular games that the average man in the street would think is a dexterity game to see how they fare. In this category I would include Operation, Jenga and Rebound (because I was a demon at it as a kid!). These three games come bottom out of the 60 games I added to the list!
Feel free to add if you think I have missed a great dexterity game

I've added some useful information on game: best number of players, how popular they are (number of plays) and whether they are Free. I've also included a comment (or two) from a fan of the game.

The games are sorted by BGG Ranking.

Other lists in this series:
The Best Space Games
The Best Co-operative Games
The Best Alternatives to "Risk"
The Best Party Games

"(Stiga Play Off Version) The little BGG credibility I had is gone. One of my favourite games a dexterity game, beer and pretzels game not a eurogame with several action points and strategies or a 3 hour American SF game. What an oaf. But I am not ashamed. This is fantastic, compelling, tense and fast. If you like sport and have either watched or played ice hockey I challenge you not to enjoy this game. Improves with repeated plays as skill levels improve and tactics become more evolved. You need to play fast to create gaps. But there is no better feeling than hitting a slap shot from the wing into the bottom corner of the net, taunting your opponent (often my brother) and then having a swig of beer. In my strange world that is the definition of joy."

"I love Crokinole and I love Elchfest, but this takes dexterity games to a new level of excitment!!! Not so much skill is needed though a good aim will go a long way. A rare gem that gets me hootin' and hollerin' while playing! This has going straight to the top of our most played games at our club game days. The only problem I've experienced is that after a few hours of hearing the disks banging around, headaches abound! (and no one can figure out why!)"

"Outstanding. Always want to play, and expect this will never change. After all, it hasn't changed in 37 years. The beauty is its simplicity. If you think this is just a kid's game, take a walk down memory lane back to Kriegspiel: wargames fought with little soldiers and mechanical cannons that really fire to try to score hits on the enemy. This is admittedly a cartoony incarnation, but there's no reason why house rules couldn't make this a contender for an all time great game, at least if you have boys, which I do have one of."

"I like the premise here: Bug Wars. Each army has its own special forces and abilities. It makes things more interesting. However, under it all its simply a well-themed game of Tiddly Winks. The thing is, it works. For a Steve Jackson game, the components are very good. I'd play this one any time, as a fun change of pace filler between 'real' games. We own Sets 1 and Sets 3, for a rainbow of color and 4 armies to choose from.

Update: I could almost make this a 10, except that it would depend on who my opponent is. I really enjoy this game, primarily with my son."

"Simple dexterity game that is just a fun time. Personally, I just enjoy going after people more than trying to win the game...:-) One seeks to use their mallet to hit their balls from below the raised platfrom and get them across the board into the opposite final row. One scores points for captured opponent balls and landing in the final opposite row."

"The best dexterity game I have seen so far. Have learned the rules yesterday and my first impression after the most basical rules were somethink like
"Okay, so we shoot those balls around a bit and someone wins later on... okay, is that supposed to be fun?"
But then there are those special rules which catch the feeling of a tennis match very good!
You can run to the net and block your opponent for example. You can exhaust him with accurate shoots to the different side of the court and then force the point for later on.
Therefore there is a bit of tactic in the game which really moved raised my interest a lot!
It's still a dexterity game and you have to hit correctly but that's okay for me.

The rating of 9 shouldn't mean that I prefer this game to all those I've rated below because this one is - as a dexterity game - something special.
I have to be in the right mood to play a dexterity game but when I think this one really shines! "

I will not play again in this lifetime as I will reserve my plays for heaven as this is what will be played there! Also a special mention to the people I played with Giles, Ruth and Max for having the highest integrity in a group I have ever seen, Ruth and Max were I think each under the recommended age of eight but did not appear fazed at all."

"Incredibly simple, and fun, dexterity game. Players on their turn flip over a puzzle card, which represents who to stack up to a dozen chunky wooden pieces in order to proceed to the next puzzle. Players have a set amount of time to solve the puzzle. Puzzles are graded in difficulty, so more points are earned for solving the tricky puzzles (but they take more time!). Plays in around fifteen minutes, and is totally addictive."

"Fun dexterity game with some interesting strategy and tactics. I played this with my brother at Protocon 9 and totally destroyed him, but we were both laughing and having fun the whole game. It says a lot about a game when you can lose horribly and still have a great time."

"I love it - I don't know why there aren't more games like this! I guess one could argue that it's more of an activity than a game, but everything feels fresh. The heart of the game is essentially a speed/recognition game, like Halli Galli. But it's fun to frantically run around the table, shoot the dart gun or try to deal the cards back out to everyone. The CD is an integral part of the game and adds an audio component that is rarely a part of a game (I can think of games like Snorta!, but even the CD in Space Dealer is purely an add-on, not necessary for game play). I think Roberto Fraga must be a genius - he is one of my favorite game designers, along with Schmiel and Knizia."

"This is a fun flicking dexterity game like Crokinole but with a soccer theme. The bouncy edges of the board make for some crazy and unpredictable results, but that just adds to the silly mayhem that ensues with this game. I played it four times in one day and look forward to playing it again soon. I still prefer Crokinole, especially because it allows for both 2-player and 4-player with teams, but Zopp is very good flicking dexterity game in its own right."

"More of a toy than an actual game, but addictively fun! A more skilled chopstick user will probably beat out the competition, but it's still fun to jostle for the right pieces. The game can get quite vicious! A minor complaint about the components - the pieces came with the paint already quite heavily faded, and it can be hard to tell some of the colors apart. But this is quite fun in small doses, definitely a unique idea."

"James Ernest is a genius, and this is his greatest work. This game borrows less from CCG's than miniature games in general, where units tend to have point costs to balance their power. Rather, the game this comes closest to is marbles. Games will be over in 10 minutes, and much of that time will be spent agonizing over which die to throw into a deadly crossfire, straining to ping an opponent's die off its strongest side, and keeping track of the score because the bodies pile up fast. May be hard to find players among the regular board game crowd, as the game is just so different from anything else. As others have said better, it's ahead of its time."

"Probably the most laughs per minute game I played this year. Wonderful family game. With the die rolling timing mechanism, the carpet flying is fast and furious, with some people cheering the die roller, while everyone else watching for the carpet to capsize. It is easy to become so fixated on flying well that you forget which shops you need to go to. There is some strategy in the tactical variant, which we played with, but it is hardly high strategy. That said, it is a lot of fun and will hit the table often at my house."

"Unique game that is truly cooperative. Not only is everybody working towards the same goal (as in most cooperative games), but everybody is working at the same time. This requires good communication, as players give and receive directions to try to build three towers. The timer is a little fast for my kids (about 45 seconds), but we substitute a longer timer for now."

"A nice game to leave set up and just have fun playing. Easy to play while waiting for others and inviting for kids and adults alike. A bit like Pitchcar in that pucks have to be moved, but plays a lot faster then Pitchcar with (for me) a lot of the same joy. There is a nice billiards aspect to bouncing the pucks. Getting bonus points for complete sets (a puck in the 1, 2, 3, and 4 spot is worth 20, not 10) adds to the scoring challenge as one doesn't just shot the pucks down the track hoping to score something.)"

Tony: I've seen this image loads of times and had no idea what game they were playing, now I know!

"It took about two shots for me to realize this was an awesome game. While the novelty of it is counter to it's size and the difficulty of storing it, I still have plans to own it or make my own. Someday, I will have my large basement game room with pool table, gaming table, shuffleboard table and this... a custom made Spinball Table... I picture mine with a faux painted wood flooring like a basketball court with graphics to match... not only on the court, but on the sides and also the center divider... can't wait!"

"This game is a blast! Two teams race to construct a block structure that matches the one depicted on the turned-over card - but the people building the structures are blindfolded and can't see what they are doing! Lots of laughs!"

"What sets this game apart is the requirement of "drawing" with a partner, alternating laying sticks/stones. Inevitably one partner will look at the other in disbelief, wondering why the partner put that particular stick/stone there. It's very interesting to see how differently people can envision something, something also evident in a game like Monstermaler. This game would take a little work for someone that doesn't speak French, since the players must be familiar with the objects on each card. I worry a little bit about replayability, since there are not that many cards, and the more difficult ones really are quite difficult, though I suppose you could always just make up your own words."

"Very quick, simple, and entertaining. It's the excitement of watching a dexterity game, with the active gameplay of a simple strategic game. You place your orbs in discrete locations, and you don't have the Bausack / Arbos / et cetera factor of everything falling apart when you mess up - instead, you just retrieve your sphere, and your turn is done. The rules are quite simple, but the interdependent fulcra of the rings provide some delicious surprises, as you place your innocent little 1-point sphere on a ring, and watch the balance shift in a way you didn't quite expect. This game is unanimously beautiful to see in still; however, its greater beauty is the motion on three interdependent axes that influence each other more with each placement."

"An amazing idea for a game. Apparently it was rethemed, but Trotofant reinforces my appreciation for the genius of Roberto Fraga. Each player is an elephant reaching for branches with her/his trunk (party whistle thing, I don't know what they're called). You must be careful, as some branches have mice on them (which count as negative points), and other players that mistakenly (or purposefully) take these branches could deposit them on your scoring area. It's more difficult than it looks to actually pick up the branches. A lot of fun to play or to watch. The closest relative I could think of would be Bizzy Buzzy Bumblebees/Bzz Bzz or Snifty Snakes, but this is more fun to play."

Great dexterity game! It is quite new and not that well known in here. Plays well with two or four players.
