About every 6 months, Gamers North of Manchester England (GNOME) hold an open, all-day gaming session at our regular venue, The Doffcocker Inn in Bolton.

The first one we publicised attracted just short of 30 people. This is the story of the second one.

At around 10AM, the members of GNOME (and anyone else who was prepared to pretend to be a member of GNOME to get an early start) began to gather. There was much chatting, some of which involved the possibility of setting up the room.

Craig, Brian, John, Hammy, (somebody's back) and Simon chatting. Richard and Mike W already gaming.

By about 10:30 the chatting and the standing round with hands in pockets was in full swing but enough people had been cajoled to shift tables, put up signs and so on. We were all ready!

Around about noon the room began to fill up as the pub opened its doors. It quickly became apparent that setting the small extra room up had been a good idea as the numbers swelled to over 40. In fact, I think we hit 42 in all.

The Looping Louie competition was a good laugh.

Competition was intense.

And attracted a lot of attention.

Crowds gathered for the final to marvel at the intensity on Rhox's face.

Concentration built up to such levels that several tongues ended up stuck out of mouths.

And when the dust had settled, Hammy ran out the winner with Alex a very creditable second.

His prize (kindly provided by Nick and Sue of Shire Games) was a copy of Pyramid.

Thanks Steve, silly of me, I should know what Le Havre looks like.

I had just read the references to Sylla in the Shire Gamers newsletter. At least that is my excuse.
