My, my... I seem to have a box. It arrived for me today. What could be in it?

The MilSims overstock sale was last weekend, running from Friday to Sunday. I hopped online at 12:30 am on Friday morning (yes, very early, but I'd just gotten home from playing Memoir '44 and Combat Commander: Pacific with Randy) and made a moderately-sized order.

The moderately-sized box arrived today. Now, how much of my order was in it?

Memoir '44 Air Pack. This is one of those expansions that I've played (with Randy) but don't own. However, for a full Memoir '44 experience you really need this. And the Campaign book, but I'm holding off buying that for the moment.

The best part is the rule book, the but air rules are very fiddly, aren;t realistic at all, and really detract from the simplicity of M'44--which is the whole point of the game.

I have ongoing desire to call this "El Havre"; I've no idea why. It came into stock only a couple of weeks before MilSims overstock sale, so I had to own it!

Agricola is one of my top 5 games. I hope I enjoy this one that much.

Oh, and seeing the words "Australian Edition" on the box along with our flag makes me feel very patriotically proud!

Awesome game.

The one thing that I just didn't like about Agricola was that just when you got going the game ended. Le Havre solves this problem with an extended (compared to Agricola) end game that involves putting what you built to use.

I've only played Agricola once since Le Havre arrived.

What's this? It's RAN, one of Richard Berg and Mark Herman's "Great Battles of History" series. I've been very much enjoying Great Battles of Alexander and SPQR recently, so it was time to add another GBoH game (or two) to my collection. In fact, I'm trying to get all of them that are still in print.

This is one of those games I expect to mostly play solo.

Ah ha! It's the one expansion for Memoir '44 that Randy doesn't have (yet). Not counting the various overlord expansions and paper maps. Ok, it's the one troop expansion he doesn't have yet.

I'm an Australian of British descent. Now's the time for me to get the expansion that allows me to think, "Boy, I'm glad I wasn't fighting in the desert in World War II!"

I have Samurai now as well! No, not that Samurai, this Samurai!

I could describe this as a prequel to RAN - it's another game in the Great Battles of History series - except it actually was published before RAN. It's a precursor instead!

Now I have four of the eleven published Great Battles of History titles.

EDIT! Five! I own five of the GBoH series!

Amongst my games are such diverse titles as SPQR, Alexander, Samurai, Ran and Conquest of Gaul... I'll come in again.

Just to get a little silly, here are two expansions to Great Battles of History games. Caractacus is the expansion to Conquest of Gaul (a game I have).

However, I don't currently own Devil's Horsemen, which Mamluk is the expansion for! It's on my list of games to get in the near future. How near? Probably in the next month.

Randy and I own a lot of games, but Randy owns a great deal more actual games than I do. Why? I keep on getting expansions. Have a look at this geeklist: my purchases are four actual games and five expansions! That ratio is pretty standard.

You know, I keep thinking I ought to get Carcassonne: the Catapult expansion just for completeness. I've managed to restrain myself, though.

I've been playing a lot of BattleTech recently. Here are some more maps - which allows me to use anything I roll on the BattleTech Total Warfare scenario generator now.

Well, here we go: the last game in the box. It's a game I've played about ten times now and it is very definitely one of my Top Five Games of All Time. Yes, it's that good.

This is the new edition. It has a couple of minor changes to the board (none play-altering) to make it easier to use, and the box is slightly smaller than before. I've been wanting to get this for quite some time but the MilSims Overstock sale finally allowed me to get it!

For those wondering how much the box cost me, it was about aus$480, down from an original cost of aus$600 - a 20% saving. Now I just have the one problem, which is not entirely a minor one.

All of that fit in there? It's like one of those cars that all of the clowns come out of at the circus! (Games are much better than clowns, though!)

When I saw the title of this GeekList, I thought it would have something to do with Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg.

Actually, a moderately-sized box. See me when I order a big-box FFG game; that gives a very large box for the delivery!

Mind you, this is one of the bigger value orders I've made recently; though I often spend in the region of $200-300 a month on games.

Cheers!
