At 0019h on 31st May,2009, the CoffinDodger turns sixty and invites his fellow Geeks to join him in a celebration of all that is good in life in general and BGG in particular.

Now, my friends across the Pond have a wonderful tradition called a roast so, if you wish to add an entry to this list, I will consider it a "Birthday Card" especially if you wish to vent your spleen about Old Fogies, Antediluvian Scotsmen, CoffinDodgers and that ilk.

To paraphrase the film Bulletproof Monk, "The year of the Ox has passed five times" and I am enjoying every minute of life. The Japanese say that a sixtieth birthday is a new beginning; I like that idea and intend to hang around on the Geek like a bad smell for many more years.

I am now officially a Sexygenarian.

I've been on this site for 10 years now, and I'm far from sick of games, but I think I am, to some degree, sick of learning too many new games. I'm also tired of playing 4+ hr multiplayer games, but I'll still happily play really long games 2 player.

Happy Birthday, you cheerful sexygenarian. I've many the time enjoyed your comments, and agree with you on your most highly rated ACW game. You are on the list of faraway BGG'ers with whom I'd most enjoy the opportunity to share a game.

Dang, am I late to the party? Is the keg dead already?

Seriously, I'm sorry for not posting earlier Jim, I've been travelling.

I just want to say that you are easily one of my favorite geeks on BGG, and I honestly consider you a friend even though we've never met in person. If you and your tribe ever find yourselves in San Diego, you're welcome in our home anytime.

I raise my pint in your honor!

Happy Birthday, Jim. I always enjoy your comments on BGG.

I hope you weren't listening to Radio 4 recently when the presenter was struggling to work out how to pronounce Irn Bru.

And here's a birthday joke for you:

Englishman's wife steps up to the first tee and, as she bends over to place her ball, a gust of wind blows her skirt up and reveals her lack of underwear.

"Goodness, woman! Why aren't you wearing any knickers?" her husband demanded. "Well, you don't give me enough housekeeping money to afford any,"she replied. The Englishman immediately reaches into his pocket and says, "For the sake of decency, here's 20. Go and buy yourself some underwear."

Next, the Irishman's wife bends over to set her ball on the tee. Her skirt also blows up to show that she is wearing no undies.

"Dammit, woman! You've no knickers. Why not?" She replies, "I can't afford any on the money you give me." He reaches into his pocket and says, "For the sake of decency, here's 10. Go and buy yourself some underwear!"

Lastly, the Scotsman's wife bends over. The wind also takes her skirt over her head to reveal that she, too, is naked under it.

"Sweet Mudder, Maggie! Where are yer drawers?" She too explains, "You dinna give me enough money ta be able ta affard any." The Scotsman reaches into his pocket and says "Well, fer the sake of decency, here's a comb. Tidy yerself up a bit."

I had to find a nice game title and a good game for your birthday, it took me some time.

You can see that the name of the game is descriptive, but we could have used a different title for example:

"Your ex wife and ex mother in law are in front of the entrance door of your garden with a birthday cake"

Ok it is a bit too long, let's revert to the former title "Enemy at the Gates" is shorter and just means the same thing

Happy Birthday again!

Jim,

We've never spoken or even bandied posts, but I want to congratulate you on your milestone for a couple of reasons.

First, you are one of my favorite BGGers in the community and I always enjoy seeing your posts. If there's even a hint of a PYUREDEADBRILLIANT showing up in a thread, I know it's worth my time. I recently thought about putting together a geeklist of things I enjoy about this community, particularly regarding the nature of the folks who contribute here, and your name was the first that came to mind. I enjoy your enthusiasm and you are always supportive and positive. So I'm thrilled to see that you've been celebrating such a great and young milestone. I'm also happy to see that you have been celebrated much in this thread. You deserve it.

The other, more self-serving reason, is that, quite frankly, it's always good to find others who are a bit more, uhm, seasoned in the age-category. While I'm a young 50, it definitely puts me among the upper portion of the demographic 'round here and I absolutely love seeing the over-XXs who are avid gamers and forever desirous of PLAY. Because in the end, that's what this is all about, innit? We play because it's FUN. So it's always good to hear folks be unapologetic about their pleasures, no matter the age. It's what brings us all together in this cyber region.

So Happy Birthday, Jim. Enjoy a drink or 3 and a fun game of Heroscape or 5. I look forward to hearing your thoughts when you post on your 70th...
