You know, ordinary people have some extraordinary abilities. I think we should share them here.

So what superpowers do YOU have? And how have they helped you? Reveal all here!

I'm assuming these will be minor superpowers, nothing like x-ray vision or the ability to fly... But hey, you never know!

I don't have the greatest solo voice, but my ear is well tuned and I have a great knack for blending with just about any other halfway decent singer, melodically or harmonically. This makes me an easy addition to any barbershop quartet or other vocal ensemble.whistle However, this means I can easily go flat with the rest of the group instead of help them by tuning up to meshake

I too can control dice. Need a high roll-here come the snake-eyes. Need a low roll, well the box cars and "20" will put in an appearance. Not every time, but the results are statistically significant (yes, Geek that I am, I actually did track/analyze a few hundred rolls across various games). Oh, and since this power is innate, it is NOT recursive, e.g. "wishing low when you really need high, etc." does NOT work

And because "one is never enough" I will add ANOTHER super-power: "anti-hearing". Yes, as one who is hard of hearing, I use my ability to get more sleep and focus on tasks at hand. sans hearing aids, I can't hear fire alarms and I know nearly every Boy Scout bugle call-Mess Call, To the Colors, Taps, all of 'em except "Reveille"

Oh, and the answer to the existential question: "If a baby cries and I don't hear it, does it make a sound?" Answer: Nope-can sleep through that. I also have an AC 5 skin to with stand the kicks and bruises of my long-suffering wife trying to get me conscious for my round of midnight feedings

It turns out that my mother had a staph infection during pregnancy, so underwent x-rays. Seems that her brassiere blocked the spot so it wasn't detected (the hospital and later other ones changed their policies to smocks for that very reason), so it took ANOTHER round of chest x-rays to find the infection and begin treatments.

Wait-I've been exposed to x-rays? AND I have super-power? I must be a Mutant Quick, get Professor Xavier on the line STAT and tell him to hold a place for me in the X-men

I can pack stuff better than anyone else I know. Car trunks, suitcases, backpacks - none will hold more stuff than after I'm done with them. This comes in very handy when travelling, or when it's "all you can fit in the bag for a buck" time at the fair.

Not to mention time to bring my loot back home from Essen...

My other major talent is the ability to retain mental maps of buildings / cities after being there once, so I rarely get lost. However, the advent of GPS has made this rather a less useful talent than it once was.

There's been a lot of times where I would space out or be doing/thinking something else while someone was trying to tell me something. Then, when they are done and expect my input, I stall for a bit and I can usually recall what they were saying to a satisfactory degree.

I'm also good at finishing other people's sentences. These abilities might be related.

I'm an inverter. When I walk into a busy room, it empties. When I walk into empty rooms, they fill up. When I break up with women, they often have personality reversals (metal fans go country, straight girls start dating women, slackers get college degrees, etc). As a result, all of my lucky dice very quickly turn unlucky, and I can never risk my characters lives in RPGs to stick with the unlucky dice until they turn around and start giving me 20s.

I also have a disproportionate number of streetlamps go out as I walk/drive under them.

I hate being waked by an alarm clock. I hate it so much, that I have undergone a mental mutation. Now, whenever I set an alarm clock, no matter what time, I will wake up two to three minutes before it goes off. Without fail.

Closely linked to that, whenever I wake up, regardless whether I set an alarm clock or not, I can tell the correct time with a maximum variation of five minutes (without looking at a clock, of course).

Is this useful? Well, if you hate being waked by an alarm clock, it is...

I don't think I have any exceptional abilities, but my mom (cinagr) certainly does.

(1) She can find things that are lost. And I don't just mean simple stuff like the car keys of people who don't know how to look for things. One of her most striking coups in this regard was the time she found a small stone that had fallen out of a loose setting in a ring... after dark, at a Halloween carnival. She just has the power.

(2) She has an exceptionally keen sense of smell. This one has also definitely been useful. My family still tells this story: Long ago, on a visit to my grandparents, late one evening my mother thought she smelled smoke or something burning. Three other adults in the house all sniffed about and none of them could notice the smell. They checked out such likely spots as the kitchen, and found nothing. Eventually everyone looked and smelled all over the house. Nothing burning could be found, and none of the others could smell it. Never mind, they said, it's nothing. But my mom would not drop it, and insisted she could still smell it. Finally they discovered the source: an electric blanket on my grandparents' bed had a bad wire or something and was just quietly starting to smolder underneath the other blankets.

(3) She's not a gambler and has never used this power for gain, but she did, for decades, correctly pick the winner of the Kentucky Derby.

It is useful sometimes when I'm having a meeting at work with someone across the table and we have to share a document.

I can happily read it upside down and most people think it quite odd when I start writing upside down notes for them on the page.

I may have trouble getting into the Justice League however...

I have a photographic memory. (Which is, I think, the reason no one wants to play Busen Memo with me.)

It works in weird ways, though.

For example, years ago I was moving from one city to another, and I asked my ophthalmologist if he could recommend another doctor in my new city. He did so, and wrote the name of the doctor on the back of one of his business cards.

Well, months passed, and with moving and everything, I lost the card. However, I needed to see the doctor. So what I did was imagined my previous doctors business card. I figured that if I could envision that card, I could turn it over in my mind and see what was written on the back.

Sure enough, I slowly rotated the card in my minds eye and bingo, there was the writing spelling out the name of the new doctor.

Growing up as a small child, i would often see people clicking their fingers and have no idea how to.

No one taught me, and therefore i ended up finding out how to do it. However, in later life i realised that in fact the way i did it was entirely unique and that even if i taught them no other human being could replicate and now i display it as my 'Worst Party Trick Ever!'.

I wrap my forefinger around my thumb and then pop my thumb up, it makes a pretty loud popping sound (and no, it isn't my bones clicking).

I have since learned how to click my fingers normally, but still can't get it as loud as my unique finger click...

One day I will use this power to save the world!
