FallCon People's Choice Event
FallCon Gaming Convention
Canada
-
FallCon is a boardgaming and miniatures convention held every year on the 3rd weekend of September in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
FallCon’s prime focus is providing a fun a friendly environment for new and veteran gamers alike. In order to facilitate and foster game play, FallCon has a large game library, tons of open gaming space and also organizes a series of "moderated" game events. Registrants generally sign up for these scheduled game events, either to learn a new game or to test their skills against the field of local masters. The current schedule can be viewed at our website: www.fallcon.com/schedule
Note that the top slot on Friday night currently states "People's Choice". As such we are holding nominations for the game that will be placed into that slot. Use this Geeklist to nominate ONE game that you think would be well suited to the 4-5 hr time slot (shorter games will be played multiple times). Once a game is nominated, use the thumbs up feature to vote for games you'd like to see become the "People's Choice" for 2009. As long as we can get enough game copies and a moderator to teach the game and run the event we will go with the top vote getter.
Each person may nominate a single game to the list. You can vote for as many games as you wish. We look forward to seeing your nominations and we hope to see you in September!

I know there are a lot of Tichu players that come to FallCon. Perhaps we could get a single elimination tournament going - my kind of fun!

An "outside the box" game. If you get 16 people or so, you could have a real Werewolf party. A suggestion would be to play 3-4 games, and whoever has the most wins (as werewolf or villager) would qualify for the prize.

I'm going to nominate a classic. Plays great with 4-5 players in the time frame permitted and is 'an oldie but a goodie'

I prefer games that are short enough that everyone can get it at least a couple plays. There are plenty of choices (T&E, Goa, etc ...) that haven't made an appearance at Fallcon for a long time, but I'll nominate "Santiago" since its good fun and I haven't played it in a while ...

Anyone up for this? It might be better as an advanced game (where players should have previous experience) just to ensure we get through a complete game.

Easily playable in an hour if there's an experienced player in the group. Good for all levels of gamers.

I would like to see this, it would be a light fast (and quite likely) raucous and rowdy start to the weekend.

Here's my choice, I always liked this one but can never get enough players to do it real justice.

I don't know if I get to make a suggestion as you've already made my decision making for this slot impossible by scheduling Chicago Express at the same time as Rails of Europe.
So, the likelihood of me playing my suggestion is slim. BUT, Vikings is a game that I would very much have enjoyed playing at FallCon.
Linda's out of town, but I'm willing to bet her suggestion would have been Ticket to Ride with 1910 expansion (as she is not so much a fan of the Marklin version).
