This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted games bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
Our GeekGuild: The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Do mind the stacks of prized games. Don't mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Be sure to bow before our King Krazygit I, and pay your due respects to previous Kings EvilTimmy I and Blackwind I. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/193
Found this today at VV for $2. It's opened but unplayed as the dice and pegs are still bagged. The board is in good shape too, no warp. This isn't exactly the type of 2 player game I will get my wife to play. But I'll try it solo. Then maybe my brother will give it a go with me.
On holiday this week so an opportunity to check out a few more charity shops and car boot sales. Very slim pickings indeed, the best I managed was a copy of dungeons and dragons. I deliberated before buying since I already have a copy of this but on close inspection of the minatures wondered why some were painted. Further inspection revealed that the box also contained a D&D minatures starter set with maps and rules (only 9 minis though)
- complete and good condition £2 in the Callington Woodside Animal Trust.
I will gift the D&D basic game to friends and now have an excuse to collect some D&D minis.
$9.99 at Savers 2.5X more that I've ever paid for a thrift store game, but my son has had this on his Christmas list since playing it at a friend's house, and had recently considered spending his own money to buy it online. We had also proposed to trade for it... Now I think I will propose more trades and see if it makes the game appear on the shelves at my local thrifts! It is complete, the lasers work and the box is in pretty good shape!
Couldn't pass up an opportunity to own a virtually new copy of this one for $15. out the door...another game obtained from the great Don Stout who also graciously passed along to me nicely priced copies of Duel in the Dark, Mission: Red Planet, and Nomadi.

The tallest mountains, the darkest forests, the deepest deserts, the oldest books, there you will find the stone.
Does anyone have or can they get 2 Koplow jumbo black d12's? If you can and have a trade match up with me (for something small, or more likely a game trade), PM me please If you can get/have these dice and can sell them to me, that would be great, send me a PM. I got the last ones from FRP games, and the source is out and only orders 1/year from them. I need two more, maybe 5 more.
Harry Potter Wizards chess. Pieces only. Missing 1 grey knight (horse)(clarified only because other pieces look like knights), and 1 black pawn. Talked the nice people at the DI down from $2.00 to $1.00. If any one has a parts copy please let me know.
Quick visit to Torpoint and found Escape from Atlantis (edtion as pictured). I use to have this version but gifted it to a friend in favour of the 1996 edtion but thought it'd be nice to have both versions (I miss the atlantian swirler and prefer this versions wooden pawns and island pieces).
Box is a bit scuffed and split at one corner. contents complete and pristine. £2 from CHAT charity shop.
Limited internet access these days. Will still check-in to view mail and log games. Just won't be participating as much in forums for the near future.
Also at the DI for a buck. I picked this up for the same reason as the Bottle Topps above. I've got a bunch of dice to make some of the DIY express games. I got a bunch of multi-colored chips as well. I will check later to see if the game itself has all of its components.
Picked this up today at the local Goodwill store for $1.99. It is complete and in excellent shape. It is a simple roll and move, draw a card, perform the action game. Add in a cool Dinosaur theme and I see another big hit with my seven year old nephew. Dinosaurs and board games were meant to be together. Even if the game isn't solid gold, the cover art is cool enough to warrant the purchase. Thrift on mateys!
Latest Gryphon Games edition picked up at the Murray DI for $1.50. Opened and possibly played but it's all there and in like new condition. I don't understand how this found it's way to the thrift but hey, "You don't hear me not complaining."
