While it looked like a modest turn out, I ended up counting 21+ gamers at our Tuesday meetup at Crepeville. Got to try a new game, and revisit an old favorite, so a good night for me.
As always, add anything and anyone I missed. For more information about gaming in the Sacramento area, please go to:

Steph, Jeff, and two others played this light rail-themed game. I couldn't tell if Vexation was in play or not.

Domaine has been in Chris' heavy rotation. Tonight, he got Jason and 2 or 3 others to join the fray.

DK introduced Stone Age to Phil, Jeremy, and myself. I missed out on the fuss when Stone Age was THE game-supplanting the other vaunted dice-roller, Kingsburg in the Sacto Boardgamers 'hot to play' list. I'm not a real huge fan of worker placement games (Leonardo da Vinci being the notable exception), but I found Stone Age went down easily as a sloe gin fizz on a hot summer day
While there are different paths to victory, we all grasped the core mechanics easily enough. Everyone avoided the starvation strategy. DK worked the farms the best, and I managed 4-5 farms by game end. I found myself running a solid resource-->VP engine, but cast a wary eye on DK hanging back and hoarding the artifact cards. Sure enough, that was good enough for the win. The difference between my 3rd and a possible 2nd place? DK grabbing the last available 11 pt. wood/2 brick card, which gave Phil the bronze.
Points: #victory cards-end game points//# artifact cards-total final points
DK-4-60//19-212 Phil-5-96//6-138 Davido-8-115//130 Jeremy-4-82//5-110
I'll definitely play this again, and try to get a better handle on the artifact bonuses.

Janet, Honoree, Angel, and perhaps one other kept the Catan fires burning steady.

After Stone Age, we decided to move into the more modern and civilized era of Virgin sacrafices and 'Cano appeasing. I meticulously arranged the deck for 4 players, only to find that Jeremy had left
DK redid the deck per 3 players and 'splained to Phil who hadn't played in a while. DK must have channeled his inner JoshK, as he booted 2 key rules (which as it was my copy of the game, I should have caught): You don't get credit for relatives in the OTHER side of multi-part buildings (Man, that board filled quick ) and you place lava BEFORE you move. Still it was a tense game as Phil and I emptied out early, and couldn't block DK's 12th meeple.
DK-12- David 11 and 7 in the Volcano Phil-11 and LOTS in the Volcano.

Nice to see Downfall of Pompeii on the table - I was hoping to catch it at your bday party.
Hopefully the Thursday night Great Escape Games gatherings will see some of these games tabled, too!
