I recently ran a crossover CarWars/Redliner game (Redliner is an RPG game world set in a post apocalyptic future). CarWars rules when they were in cars, d20 rules when out of them, a crazy make it up as I go along hybrid when some people are in cars and others are not
It worked suprisingly well and I was quite proud of the finale - driving a fuel truck away from the gang the players had stolen it from.
Anyhoot, it got me wanting to play other car games, and I picked up Wreckage. Here are the rest of the car games I have played or know about. Anyone know any others?

The granddaddy of them all. So much detail... too much for a lot of people. I enjoyed constructing new cars, but was never anally retentive about it - I prefered to keep things simple. I never played with hovercraft or any of the other more crazy vehicle types - I just never saw the point.
I was never keen on the setting - I preferred a more Mad Max low-resource struggle-to-survive setting.

My recent purchase. Quick playing, fun, and less finickity than Car Wars, but not much depth to it, and you can't play "seriously"... if you consider that a problem.

I remember this from my Games Workshop era although my friend owned it not me. Some clever ideas, the rolling road etc. The car models were great. It always bothered me that you couldn't play off road scenarios though. It set itself up for roleplaying in some ways, but dashed it by limiting you to road battles.

Never played this one, but I might try and pick up a copy. The 45 degree movement looks a bit funny, but I'm guessing that it makes the game play quickly. I like the look of the car damage reference thingies - looks a bit like Crimson Skies.

Card version of Car Wars. I've never played it. I have heard bad things about it. To other car battle afficionados: would my love of the theme overcome the shortcomings of the game?

Never played it. Looks a bit abstract - I prefer more simulational games, at least as far as car battling goes.

Truly abysmal rating. I guess I should steer even wider than I would for explosive spikes?

This actually looks like fun, but the MB makes me think it must be aimed at kids? Am I wrong?

Looks like it might have potential, although it also looks like it is hard to get hold of.

This one looks to have some cool ideas. I love the look of the gearstick chart things.

This one should probably be higher up the list since I do actually own it. Constructing and painting the cars just never happened though so it never got played.

Saw this in my local gaming shop and almost bought it. I like Cthulhu as well as car wars games, but will I like the mix?

This looks good, but I suspect the painting of figures requirement will keep it off the table. After all, you can't play with them unpainted

This has a good rating (although only from 12 votes) and hexes. I have an irrational love of hexes (and a rational one too
. Is it any good?
Thats about all I have ever heard of. Anyone know any more. More importantly, anyone know any more that are actually good???

I just got this game; haven't tried it yet so I can't give you a synopsis. But I really like Hive, the other game by this designer.

A new version of this is supposedly due out from Plenary Games.

Not cars, but someone included the other chariot racing game. So ...
Nasty chariot racing a la Ben Hur. Try and knock each other off the track or disable the chariots while avoiding obstacles and trying to go as fast as you can.

Have it, but haven't played it yet. Seemingly hard to find - found one finally off of eBay, plus a couple of extra cars from another seller. (Can use any 1/43 scale cars - they even sell weapons and armor packs to mod your own...)

Published version of the old PnP game. There are a few changes in the game. They got rid of the card deck and a lot of the tokens. Also a few new weapons have been added.
Probably cheaper to buy retail than make a decent quality PnP version as well
