THIS WAS ESSEN 2009.
< --- This is the "additional pot" for this list. Feel free to add a bit.
For the third time now, people have shown us the best pictures they made at the SPIEL fair at Essen.
The awards: All votes (thumbs to the entries) had to be done until midnight Nov 8th / Nov 9th BGG-time. The pot this year was made up of the following: 522 from my account. + the "additional pot": All tips to this list. The total was devided by 18 into equal "parts". 6 equal "1st places" got two of these parts and 6 equal "2nd places" one part. Prizes were only full . The rest I gave to the picture I like best from the pics not yet awarded.
PRIZES: 1st: 94 (6 x) / 2nd: 47 (6 x) / Rest: 4
The pot reached 850 total!
Participants were free to submit as many items as they wish.
--------
[size=13]There were 6 categories:
1. The convention. The public, the people, the whole atmosphere, condensed in one single shot. Items 1 - 15. 2. Game: Bits and Boards. Show us the most beautiful NEW game, with the bits, the box, whatever, but concentrate on the pure game as it is. Items 16 - 36. 3. Game: Play. Present us the best shot from actual gameplay. The fun, the crazy people, the concentration. But still: Show us the game they play, please, too!Items 37 - 48. 4. Designers & Presentation: Show us the booth, costumes, designers, gadgets, 3D-giant games, but please: A good picture! Items 49 - 76 5. Funny stuff: Make us laugh. That`s all. Items 77 - 91. 6. Picture series: Show us a sequence that tells us a story - before & after, or the flow of a game in subsequent rounds, or whatever you like, in at least two pictures. Items 92 - 100.
Note: Votes by the photographers for their own images didn`t count ...

Kids having fun; I think that sums things up fairly well .
This was taken in the gap between the halls where people tended to go to get some air or, conversly, a smoke. The kids had set up an impromptu mock battle with wooden swords and rubber arrows!

1. The convention
View from Hall 9 into Hall 10 on Thursday afternoon. This year it was really crowded! Crowds, people with trollies and bags for carrying lots of games, hot dogs and a giant Uwe Rosenberg looming in the background - that was Essen this year.

The beautiful upcoming collector's edition of War of the Ring at the Nexus-booth. For me the most "shiny" piece of the whole show. Extra large map and cards, hand painted miniatures and a hardcover rulebook - just impressive. The huge "book" on the right is acutaly the box.

In Tobago, after raising hidden treasures, amulets appear at the coast, in direction of view of the holy stone statues. You can almost feel this one watching out for the next amulet site...
