Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

WOW! I received yet another mail from my SS alerting me that there was 1 more stocking stuffer along the way! Today I got this in the mail from a game website! It looks very awesome, as we play alot of 3-13 Rummy with my parents, and this game shares the same mechanic (Have a low or no score). I have never heard of the game before but it will definitely be hitting the table. Im starting to see that my SS has paid alot of attention to my profile and played games . Cant wait to open my other gifts SS! Thanks yet again, for a truly awesome SS!

My gifts arrived last week - sorry for the late post Santa!
In fact, I have to thank Mrs. Claus as she sent me the gifts - one for me and one (above and beyond the call of duty) for my wife.

UNFORTUNATELY - as my wife received a gift they sit under the tree unopened. I will post pics on Christmas day.

THANKS Mrs. Claus you are the BEST!

So this all started with a text message from my sister saying I had a couple of packages waiting for me. No biggie; I was expecting some gifts I bought for the family to come in. Then she tells me they're both from gaming companies. This piques my curiosity a bit since I don't remember ordering from two game companies. One was for the Arkham Horror dice but the other was from Boards & Bits. My heart skipped a beat since I figured this was from my ninja Secret Santa who's been curiously quiet.

I get home and open the box. It's nicely wrapped with a note wishing me Merry Christmas from my BGG Secret Santa. Since my recipient appears already on this Geeklist devil I felt no shame in inquiring of the packaging of its contents. Of course, the stupid paper refused to talk. After several minutes of fierce interrogation, I took a more direct approach and shredded the poor nicely wrapped package. The paper had been hiding a copy of Ad Astra!

Thank you, Secret Stealth Ninja BGG Santa!

I wasn't going to unwrap it. But the Memsahib had a concern one of the more educated (read: actually knows the games I want) members of the family might have got it for me already. So, it was a fantastic surprise - I was really impressed with this first time I saw it - an excellent idea with the duo-print format for English and German.

So my festive salutations Secret Santa - and thank you for the prompting too. My apologies it wasn't in very great detail, but it was all a hurried addition, inserting comments on the wishlist, via my mobile phone, while I endured British public transport that day!

My best wishes to you all out there - have a safe and happy silly season

Wow.....that's all I can say! My Secret Santa hit it out of the park!

After several emails telling me to be on the lookout, what to my wandering eyes should appear, but a big brown box on my front porch! I opened the box and the first thing I see is a note from Santa himself. That's right, the BIG MAN took the time to write me a letter. (I know, you're all jealous, but hey, I've been really good this year!) So I read my letter and push aside the tissue paper to find.......M and Ms, a Scrabble Card game and a Santa Pez dispenser. But that's not all. Digging a little deeper (did I mention it was a BIG box?) I find not one, but two wrapped presents. Now Santa, I know in your letter it sounded as if you wanted me to wait until Christmas day to open my gifts, but I thought about it and decided that you really didn't mean for me to suffer.....so I tore into them.

First box was Mr. Jack in New York! I can't wait to play this with my hubby, we both love the original.

Second box was Tales of the Arabian Nights! I am beyond ecstatic about this game, and it is already in the line up for play this weekend.

Thank you Secret Santa for everything and Merry Christmas!

I drove through the snow after work today to find a box waiting on my front porch. Inside I found a nice note from my SS, plus the following.

Le Havre

And
Dominion: Intrigue

Secret Santa wrote:

Dear James,
I wish you a wonderful Christmas and a New Year filled with personal and professional victories and, of course, with lots of fun board games. It was a pleasure to have you as a target in the event -- BGG Secret Santa. I hope you enjoy the gifts that I am sending to you.

A bug hug from your South American Secret Santa.

To which, I say, "Thank you!" The gifts and the good wishes are both greatly appreciated. My SS dropped a few hints here and there, so that I knew when to be on the look out. It was most definitely a fun time. I'm overwhelmed by the generosity that he or she has shown here, and the kind note was the icing on this cake.

Again, thank you.

Ok, so it is just like this box except that it is bigger and made of cardboard and made the long trip from the land of the Swiss.

Thank you Santa it looks great but I will be strong and wait until Christmas...especially since I haven't bought my fiancee a gift yet and if I open one without first putting one for her under the tree...well lets just say I will be sleeping on the couch for most of 2010.

*UPDATE #1*

Ok the box that I thought came from Santa was actually from another friend of mine. BUT...I was told that the box did arrive and I am going to pick it up today. I guess my Santa might be from Ohio or at least that is where I am told the box came from.

I will update more very soon.

*UPDATE #2*

Box is in hand and we have a sucessful Secret Santa. Thank you Thank you Thank You!!!

Opened the box and found the following letter.

Quote:
Dear Ackles Family

Happy Holidays to you all!

This package contains two presents that I hope will find your family happy and health(y)!

The first present is one that I cannot seem to win against my wife. When I saw the game on your wish list I knew I had to get the game for you both. Just try to get as many "green" cubes as you can. Hope you enjoy the game.

The second present is for your family. I too am an avid outdoors man and enjoy Geo-Caching whenever I can. Geo-Caching has not only allowed me to find great out of the way parks in my backyard but has allowed me to find caches hidden in the mountains of Nevada, deep in the woods of Michigan and even in Mexico.

I have decided to set your family up to be able to create a family Geo-Cache. Talk with your family and make a Geo-Cache. I have enclosed an ammo box for a cache. A log book for your vistors. A sticker to make the cache recognizable to all Geo-Cachers. Finally I have enclosed a Travel Bug Tag. Therefore you and your family can send something forth in the world and track where it has been. Follow the instructions on the Travel Bug Packaging. You will be amazed who visits the cache and the wonderful greetings you will get in the log book.

Have a blessed Holiday and enjoy the season with your family!

Sincerely,

Your BGG Secret Santa

How COOL is that?!!! Why didn't I think of that? Thank you thank you!!!

We have just moved so this will be a wonderful time to create a great cache here in our new local area.

Also I was pretty sure of the game....and off with the paper and what do I find but one of the top games on my list

Wasabi!

Can't wait until I can see just how hot the Wasabi! can be.

Thank you Santa you really threw me off with the postcard from Sweden...and I was not sure how I felt about my SS being a buckeye...but I can hope you are not...but if you are that just means there is at least one good buckeye out there!!!

Thanks again we really do appreciate it.

PS. If ya'll want to check out our Geo-Caching exploits...we have been moving lately and not very active but check out CADEN'S DAD and you should be able to see our cache early next year.

Yay! I got the call at work that the box arrived on Friday.

Unfortunately I had already promised my lovely girlfriend that after work I'd help pick up a very heavy table she purchased and then it was off to celebrate a non-gaming friend's birthday at the Texas Chili Parlor in downtown Austin.

By 9 PM we were back and ready to open the box!

Drinking and cutting utensils ready!

Pandora's Box Opened!

Two Envelopes! One to open first and the other after...

The first envelope!

Everything laid out!

First! Card Packs to Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game!!!!!!1!!

Next! Archaeology: The Card Game!!! A very pleasant surprise as that's my profession!

Then! Arkham Horror: The Black Goat of the Woods Expansion!!!

More! Dominion: Intrigue! Wow, wasn't expecting that! I was actually thinking about picking that up in the next few days!

Next one and I can guess what it is!

Finally the most surprising of all! It seems that my SS works for Atlas Games and sent me two of their wonderful Lovecraftian children's books!!!

One is an amazing Mythos take on the Maurice Sendak classic Where the Wild Things Are and the other a take on Chris Van Allsburg's The Polar Express! Very cool!

Second Envelope!

Inside!

Everything together!

By the next day we had already played three games of Archaeology! It's a really fun game and easy to learn!

Thank you Secret Santa!!!!!!!!!

Now I'll have to top you next year with my SS Target!

Yeah! The Brown Sleigh of Joy (tm) arrived today. Two packages that my wife interecepted. The first was the American Girl-Rebecca Rubin that we had ordered for the Princess.

[hand covering microphone, sotto voce to off-camera-"I'm not losing Geek/Man Points here by starting off posting an image/game with a cute Dolly, am I?"]

My wife thought the second package was the accessories etc. But it was addressed to moi-from Jim S, the Chief overseer of the hard-working elves of Boulder Games in Georgia

Happy Dance! My strong, silent, stoic, Secret Santa had come through in fine style, sending along a Days of Wonder sized box. I reluctantly put it under the Xmas Tree/Hannukah Bush. We lit Hannukah candles for night four, had dinner, the kids opened presents (Rebecca Rubin is THE Xmas present, so she'll wait). Wife noticed me looking witsfully at the brown box and gave the nod. Well, my friend Will Power just left town, so I started the party without him

Tore open the box (actually carefully cut it open so I can re-use it to send along my next trade), scattered foam peanuts everywhere (and quickly gathered them up again before The Man (1.5 years whose assimilation skillz would put the Borg to shame) could ingest em all.

Found not one, but TWO games:

Pandemic: On the Brink

and

The Red Dragon Inn 2

I've enjoyed both Pandemic and the original Red Dragon Inn. Since I am the world's worst Expansion Whore (tm), giving me more of what I like is a sure-fire winner. Being able to play both games with more than four will also help getting these and the base games to the table more often.

It's been a rough year, but thank you Double Secret Santa for your generosity in bringing me some gaming cheer for the holidays and beyond. All I can say is: "You're the best"

I had to go to the dentist today soblue (Tue 15th) as I suspected that I had cracked a tooth while chomping into a delicious steak sandwich at a Christmas party on December 4th.

I don't mind the dentist, except when it involves drilling and with a cracked tooth it wasn't going to be a happy time cry.

Anyway, about an hour later I left the dentist after sweating bullets with a newly filled tooth, slightly numb mouth and an ever increasing ache in my mouth.

Feeling somewhat sorry for myself I headed to the Post Office to see (willing something to be there) if there was a parcel there for me. Opening my PO Box I was trying to stay calm and aloof.

And, there at the back was a key to a large locker. I hadn't ordered anything and no one else in my family was expecting anything. Could it be? Could it be?

I opened the locker and there it was - a nice big thick box.

So my Ninja Secret Santa is also an Aussie hailing from Melbourne (gleaned from postage label, Highpoint Retail Shop, Australia Post). My SS hasn't contacted me to say not to open the box, but it would be nice to have a surprise on Christmas morning. Can I stay strong or will I have to hand it over to my wife to check and wrap if necessary?

What would you do?

.
.
.

So, last night I asked my wife to check if it was wrapped. It wasn't , so she offered to leave it in the box or wrap it for me. Leaving it in the box was too big a temptation, so I asked her to wrap it (fool I hear you say).

Well, the kid in me wanted a surprise for Christmas morning (isn't that why we do this?). So, this is what I received back from her:

I'll be back in nine days to update what I got - it's about the size of the Stone Age box, but not as deep.

Anyway, thanks Secret Santa you made me very happy just to get it before Christmas.

.
.
.

Well, I waited patiently as each day passed and puzzled on which game it was - based on the package size I had narrowed it down to three choices, all RGG games.

Come Chritsmas Day I left it as the last to open.

Inside was an immaculately kept pre-loved copy of
Vikings

- in fact it looks so good it doen't look used at all.

Many thanks to my Melbourne, VIC SS.

When I got home from work this evening, I found a package in the mail with a return address of 'North Pole'.

Upon opening it I found Drachen Wurf, along with a very nice note from my Secret Santa.

In addition to this game, I also got two Small World expansions:

Small World: Grand Dames of Small World

and
Small World: Cursed!

THANK YOU SECRET SANTA!

So, my secret santa had been keeping me pretty well informed about the status of the elves in the shop, and where my package was in the production line. (There was some weather issues last week and the package was delayed a few days, but I wasn't in town so no worries.)

I received the package today and before I could get it under the tree, the scissors flew out the drawer and cut the tape off of the box. Knowing that there is tape shortage in the US, I opted to not re-tape the box and simply opened it.

To my surprise, two rather nicely bundled packages fell out. Upon opening the first, I found Ticket to Ride: Europa 1912, Legendary Dungeoneer: Wrath of the Serpent Goddess and Epic Dungeoneer: Call of the Lich Lord. I love playing Ticket to Ride with the brand new fiancée and her family, so the 1912 expansion was perfect. I also love playing Dungeoneer, which makes getting those two expansions perfect.

I opened the second bundle and found Power Grid: Brazil/Spain & Portugal and Ghost Stories: White Moon. Once again, Power Grid is a definite favorite of mine and getting the latest expansion made me very happy. Although I haven't played Ghost Stories yet, it is at the top of the "Must Play" pile and it will see some action before the year ends.

Overall, I am very touched with my Secret Santa's generosity and hope they have a very merry holiday season.

THANK YOU SANTA!!!

-Ryan
