Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Santa made me very happy when I finally got to see my delivery.

The parcel arrived yesterday but being at work it was taken in by neighbours.

When I got home and went to collect it they had gone out. I tried again this morning but still no answer. They have just knocked with the box after enjoying a night at the theatre and an early trip to the supermarket this morning.

The Powerboats game looks superb, one I have been eyeing up for quite a while.

Santa had taunted me that there was something else from his own collection that had been added to the order. This turned out to be Graenaland which is a real surprise as it looks like just the type of game we enjoy playing.

But the joy continues. Also in the package was
Catan Card Game: Artisans & Benefactors

Santa must by psychic, I ordered this a while ago only to find it sold out. My Catan Card Game collection is now complete. Both my wife and I enjoy this game and finding this was a real treat for the pair of us.

A very big thank you to Santa for making me a very happy geek this christmas. We are very excited about playing each of these very soon.

Santa you are the best
Thanks
Paul

I woke up this morning and this had been left for me...

I noticed the sticker saying giftwrapped inside and so opened up the box to find...

But what's that... not one but 3 games, all nicely wrapped, inside!

The guard was put in place with strict orders not to let me open the games until christmas.

Thank you very much secret santa!

Update

My Secret Santa is the best!

The first presents opened on Christmas day were my SS gifts. I was very eager to find out what cool games Santa had got me and I certainly wasn't to be disappointed. This year santa got me: -

Dominion
Agricola
Power Grid

All 3 of these games were in my top 10 games and getting them more than made my christmas.

Getting one of these games would have been great but to get all three goes beyond generous. All I can say, once again, is a very big Thank you SS!

Upon returning from work, there was a modestly sized Box-o-fun from BnB.

And in it were some gems!

Battleline is a game that always falls off my radar, and i dont really know why - Blue moon is my favorite 2p game(aside from space hulk) and my girlfriend absoluetely adores anything knizia.

Well, my girlfriend and i immediately ripped it open and played 3 games last night - 1 victory for me and 2 for her (though one was VERY close, our last game).

I must say, this is an EXCELLENT game.

BUT THATS NOT ALL!

I also received both Small World Expansions!

Now, Small World and I have a strange relationship. On one hand, i have probably 20-30 plays under my belt and have NEVER WON ONCE. I swear, i am not that bad at board games, but, apparently, i am really bad at this one.

On the other hand, i love Small World. I always have fun playing, it is just the right length, and it is a pleasure for a bit-whore like myself. It always seemed to us, with 4-5 player games, that it needed just a few more races/powers so that you wouldnt have to re-cycle them at the end of the game.

Just what the doctor ordered!

You da (wo)man, Santa!

EDIT: Santa just informed me that i have yet ANOTHER package coming, so this will be updated when it arrives. WOO!

EDIT: Sorry i haven't updated, Santa - busy week. But there is indeed a second package. It is huge(7 pounds!), and i really need to stop speculating. It wont be opened till X-mas.

EDIT:
EUROPE ENGULFED

Holy crap, this was quite the christmas.

And, on the first of january, with 2 buddies, we played the ENTIRE. GAME.

Started at about 9:30 AM, and ending at 3:30 AM, it was a session of mammoth proportions, that ended with germany (me) getting crushed in jan-feb of 1945 - not a bad run for a first shot.

Such a fun game. It was 13 hours straight before anyone even wanted a break. I dont know if i could say that about almost any other activity.

Thank yooooou.

The doorbell rang at 7.30 this morning. A parcel van from the Royal Mail was parked outside and I was handed a package! The BGG Santa logo gave away the nature of this mysterious item straightaway.

It was despatched within the UK and has a return label from Shire Games. It won't be opened until Christmas, but here's an initial THANK YOU to whoever you are, wherever you are! And kudos again to Nick Fisk of Shire Games, who is clearly doing an excellent and efficient job.

Christmas update

Well, I am delighted to have received a copy of Powerboats from my Secret Santa. This was an Essen 2008 release that has been on my wishlist for some time and I anticipate that we'll be playing our first game this weekend.

Thank you, Secret Santa. You gave me a clue that you are in the US, but that is all I know about you. Happy Christmas!

So I skeddadled out of work early on Friday because my brakes were making a funny noise and I wanted to drop the car at the shop for an inspection. I called my wife to come pick me up but it was nap time for my youngest daughter; no problem, I told her, I'll go kill some time at the book store across the street. About 90 minutes later they come and pick me up, we go home, pour some cocktails, bake a pizza, and as we're eating my wife says "Oh yeah, there's a package out on the porch - we saw it when we left to get you."

Package? Could it be!?
Me: "Cool! What do you think it is?"
Daughters, in unison: "Games! You ALWAYS get games!"

Sure enough, a box of fun from Boards & Bits was on the porch. Secret Santa had warned me that something was on the way, and I certainly hadn't ordered anything recently, so this was it!

Now I have incredible patience, to the point where I was considering putting it under the tree until Chritmas of 2010. (Blatant lie.) But my girls, who are only 5 and 2 years old, would have none of that. Before I could even get back to the dinner table they were both running through the kitchen with scissors. (Yes that's an embellishment, but it's a visual that captures the mood of the room really well.)

Anyway, I am extremely excited and grateful to have received both Chicago Express and the Narrow Gauge & Erie Railroad Company expansion from Secret Santa. This was clearly the top of my wish list, as I've been a big fan of Wabash Cannonball ever since I first played it and consider this game and beautiful reproduction to be one of my all-time classics that I will still be playing in the old folks home.

And the girls loved playing with the packing peanuts. Go figure...

Thanks a bunch Secret Santa! Your generosity is very much appreciated!!

It was a crappy week at work. 3, count 'em 3 of my employees are in domestic abuse situations. It breaks my heart! Another employee had to have her dog put to sleep.

3 days in a row I had employees crying in my office. It has been a stressful week trying to help without crossing that line, but caring for the people I work with.

I came home last night to a Thoughthammer box, and inside was Talisman! It was game night so we played last night and had a great time with a great game and some great beer.

Thanks Secret Santa! Your timing is perfect!!!!

My Santa sent me a message yesterday morning that a package might be arriving later that day...and he was right!! My wife told me to wait to open it on Christmas but I just couldn't take it! So my generous Secret Santa sent me Pandemic: On the Brink. I actually played it last night (solo) and it was amazing! It has made a great game even better!

And then he also sent me Wits and Wagers which I'm very excited about! I don't have many party games, so this should make a hit with my family this holiday season! Thanks again Secret Santa for your generosity! I love the games! Have a very merry Christmas!

A big thank you to my Santa!

I don't know what to say but 'Wow!' I tried to include a wide range of gifts in my wishlist to help Santa be able to pick something out for me. I truly didn't expect a game that is out of print (sort of) and rather expensive. Growing up, my family always encouraged my wishlist to Santa to include expensive, or hard to find items that I wouldn't receive because its always good to dream big. Some years, we exchanged home made gifts to each other, others were extravagant affairs. But I learned early on that it was the thought and effort put into the gift. And through the taunting I received, I know that my Santa did put some effort and care into their decision.

This was my first year participating and it is a wonderful experience so far. I just hope my target enjoys it as much as I have. I almost didn't sign up because I've been quite Grinchy lately. I'm going through a divorce and my ex has primary physical custody of my 2 children, (3 and 6). It does my heart some real good to know there are strangers out there who care enough to try and make someones' life happier.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE SECRET SANTAS OUT THERE MAKING THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE!

Doug

p.s. My Santa insisted I open it immediately and to play and enjoy...it's going on the table tonight.

Wouldn't you know it, I was out of town when a package arrives from Secret Santa, and I couldn't open it until today. The package came on Wednesday, but I had to wait until I got home on Sunday to open it. My wife was only slightly surprised that I didn't wait until Christmas to open it (as it is, she pretty much called me on this whole game trading scam. She said, "So everybody gets everybody else a game they want? How is that different from buying yourself a game?" What a scrooge, right?)

But most importantly, I was really impressed at how well my Secret Santa deciphered my not-so-subtle hint as to which game I wanted the most: the top rated game I did not yet ownwhistle

Thanks Santa for not only the base game Power Grid, but also:

The France/Italy Expansion

AND

the Power Plant Expansion

Thank you very much, Santa! And I received it before Thanksgiving!

Which got me thinking, why don't we just do a gift exchange every major holiday?

Well, since I'm a regular BGG.con attendee and supporter of the vendors there I decided to open up my secret santa box to make sure none of my BGG.con purchases would interfere with santa's generosity. That's a good enough reason not to wait right?

Anyways, I found inside 2 games I really enjoy, the one pictured and my favorite 2 player Kosmos game Jambo. Awesome! I've wanted Jambo for a long time just never seemed to pick it up for whatever reason and Endeavor is a new favorite for 2009.

Thanks Santa! I and my group will get lots of enjoyment from these.

When I got back from BGG.con, I found not one but TWO packages waiting for me from my Super Secret Santa! This was great as seeing some of the first Christmas lights pop up around the neighborhood and having these two packages waiting for me has started getting me in the Christmas spirit.

I will wait until Christmas to open these and the suspense is very sweet! I did the totally acceptable jiggling-of-the-box but it didn't reveal too many clues. I'll jiggle some more later!

Thanks SS, you're awesome. And thanks for the geekmails, that added to the fun!

Well, I couldn't wait to open the presents (plus Santa was concerned I had already bought one of his gifts at BGG.con!) so I broke open the boxes this week and got a BIG thrill....well, 2 big thrills actually! The first box contained Steam by Martin Wallace, I game I have been wanting for some time. I'm very excited to have it and plan on playing it tomorrow.

The second box contained Dominion: Intrigue

WOOT! Very excited about both games and can't thank my Secret Santa enough. Christmas is off to a great start for me.

PS -- S.S. I hope I didn't cause too much concern but trust me that everything turned out great!!

Today was kind of a crappy day. I had to get up at an ungodly hour in order to rush to the hospital to get my blood checked (doctor's orders), of course not before waiting in a ridiculously long line. Then I had to do even more rushing to get to the university in time for my lecture. Then - more rushing in order to get to the hall where I have sport classes, which, incidentally, is on the other side of the city (damn the wisearse who thought up mandatory sports classes in the university!), and after two hours of workout, back to the university again for a course in German. Then a little bit of bonus rushing to the bookstore before it's closed, to get a book I need for a Friday class.

I was completely exhausted when I got home. But lo and behold, the day wasn't as bad as it seemed, because Santa paid me a visit when I was away!

I had some problems removing the cardboard, since it was a pretty snug fit. But when I finally did:

THANK YOU SANTA for turning a bleak and exhausting day into a merry and exciting one!

PS. This actually isn't a real secret, since Santa dropped me quite a hint in the little letter he had his Elves attach to the box. However, since it's still wrapped and I intend for it to stay that way til the 24th of December, I posted it as a 'secret'. But I will give you all a hint too: I will most certainly be yelling "Frakkin' toaster!" more than once while playing this

Now I just have to resist the urge of tearing the paper off... It's hard... The box... It's looking at me...goo

[EDITed for typos]

[EDIT] Yep, it's BSG. Had the first game two days ago. Well, actually it was two games back-to-back, requested by one of my friend who... hates boardgames! He tolerates only Settlers from Catan. This game's magic!

Wow! I just opened my Secret Santa gift. I can't believe how generous my Santa was, giving me two games and an expansion, all from the top of my wish list!

My family game group has enjoyed Settlers of Catan very much, having played 99 times in the past five years. All of our games are either 5 or 6 players. I recently decided to add Catan: Seafarers to my wish list, along with the 5/6 player expansion.

Catan: Seafarers – 5-6 Player Extension

My Santa purchased both of those, and I am eager to try them (probably Thanksgiving Day).

In addition, Santa included Bakong, also at the top of my list.

Bakong

Unbelievable! You couldn't have pleased me more.

Thank you, Santa, very much. I anticipate that these games will be played often, and we will thank you for all that enjoyment.

I hope you have a generous Santa, also, and have a very Merry Christmas!

Thank you very much SS. Today a parcel arrived with a Shire Games return address. As expected, Nick and Sue had wrapped the items to perfection and added a message from my Secret Santa (aha! his first slip, it is signed with a "C" - that narrows it down to only about, erm, 10,000 possible geeks).

However, my wife intervened and grabbed the parcels which were packed inside (one flat, one box shaped) before I could tear off the wrapping paper or even take a picture (so you will have to make do with an old shot of me and the eldest).

To make matters worse, she responded to my pleas to be allowed to open my presenst by carefully peeling the tape off the end of the thin packet, in collusion with the kids, and partially opening it (the swine). I breifly heard the word "Funkenschlag?" (yes, it was pronounced as a question) before the tape was reapplied and the parcels hidden, so thank you SS for the Power Grid expansion map and whatever else is in the other parcel.

Now I just need to find where she has hidden them...

Chris

Woo-hoo! What an efficient Santa! The package came early and now I cannot help glancing at it. Will it last until Christmas? I've managed to last out the previous 2 years.....

So Thanks Santa and Green Knight Games (who had the courtesy to email me to check if it had arrived okay)!

And it seems my Santa is not done. Santa sent me a geekmail:
Quote:
I am hoping to get another package to you at a later date from the homeland. Please reply when you get it so I know you did!

Santaman

Excellent news from a most generous Santa!
Hmm... "homeland". Interesting. Not British then. Odds are USA. If so watch out for customs charges Santa! Mark as a gift!

Homerun Santa! Thankyou. Your clues were good (no, of course I didn't wait until Christmas to open it). I'd narrowed it to Dominion:Seaside, Chaos in the Old World and that civil war naval game whose name escapes me at the moment.

Anyway, I was very pleased to see that you picked the one I wanted most. Also, this is not a game I'd probably have purchased for myself, so its doubly good.

As my friend Mike told me recently when we were talking about it, after I mentioned I didn't know a lot about it but the theme sounded good: "Chester, you want this game. No, really, you want this game."

I'm hoping to get some Christmas play on the table. Thanks again Santa!

What're you looking at!

I was somewhat naughty and opened one of three games that I received from Secret Santa. It was an especially pleasant surprise after receiving a photo-radar ticket in the mail also. Thanks you so much for Dvonn!. I am that much closer to getting the whole Gipf collection.

I can't wait to open the other two on Christmas morning when I will update this post.

Thanks again!

Christmas Morning Update: My secret santas is very generous indeed. I also received:

Landlord!

And two Power Grid Expansions:

Power Grid: France/Italy

Power Grid: China/Korea

You rock Secret Santa!

Dear Secret Santa,

Thank you for my box

My eldest son certainly likes a good box. He was especially fascinated when I pointed out that it was from Santa Claus. Can you see his initial in the packaging Kai?

All these from my very generous Secret Santa. It was also the first delivery and also the first Christmas presents in our new house. We have just finished decorating and fixing up and hope to move in on the 4th of December.

And I am already playing with my presents (without having to unwrap them). See, I have invented a new stacking game

They have all been very nicely wrapped by your elves at Shire games. I wonder what the 'not on your wishlist' extra, to be played after the Christmas pud could be.

Wishing you a very merry Christmas and happy gaming

Dear Santa

Thanks for the great presents. I received Power Grid, Tichu, Meuterer and Bunny Bunny Moose Moose. Kai and I and in fact the rest of the family had a great time with the last game. Thank you for the geekgold I will be getting my avatar as soon as possible.

As you know we have just moved house and unfortunately don't have regular internet access right now. I hope to have it all sorted out by 12/01/2010. Thanks once again for being such a terrific Secret Santa.

I have the bestest Santa ever! I put Bananagrams and some inexpensive card games on my list and would've been completely happy with those, but my SS decided to go for the whopper! They also sent me Saboteur and a book about painting minis and some comic books!! All nicely wrapped in snowman paper, but I couldn't resist.

So thank you again awesome Santa of mine, and I appreciate you making this so much fun!
