Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Santa, whom was very impressed that my town was very eco-friendly, was very game friendly to me!!!

I got home from work tonight, and found a box! Inside said box was giftwrapped box, that contained a box that contained Chaos in the Old World, and Saboteur (which looks like an awesome little card game). I was sooooo happy. My FLGS has Chaos as a Black Friday doorbuster, and I was so getting it. Now I can buy Dominion and Space Alert, with minimal complaints from my loving wife!

Thanks Secret Santa, and BBG for making the last few year so awesome!

Steve

NEW UPDATE!!!! 12/19/2009
My Secret Santa is soooooooo awesome! I just got another box in the mail from The University of Florida! Santa must be taking some classes. Anyway, in the box was a ton of cool goodies, like some great Citrus Candy (my son loves the pecan ones),post cards, a cool Zombie Chick finger puppet, and most of all:

Zombie in my Pocket

All professional done, with counters and 3 scenario addons!!! Plus my wife is exciting, because its solitare!!!!

Thanks again, best year ever!!!!

Wow, wow, wow! is all I can say

Received my Secret Santa gifts today and couldn't wait to open them, sorry.

Played once today--awesome! I know what I'll be playing at my brother's when I'm all stuffed with turkey tomorrow! Wahoo! Thanks so much.

A BIG THANKS for these games also:

This was the #2 game on my list--and is much appreciated!

AND

We broke this one out and played it with the kids today. Besides an eye almost being poked out, we had a good time!

Secret Santa this was very generous, thank you so much!
We will really enjoy all 3 games!

My Secret Santa appears to be the strong silent type. I haven't heard a thing from him/her. However, I had indicated in my profile that HIT board games is a local-to-me on-line retailer and I was willing to pick it up if he/she wanted to save on shipping. The owner Troy contacted me late last week that he had some packages for me and I picked them up today.

The gifts are wrapped so I don't know for sure what they are but one is suspiciously the same dimensions as Pandemic so I'm guessing that's what it is. The other game is slightly smaller and I'm not sure what it is (perhaps Pandemic: On the Brink?). I'm going to wait until Christmas to open them and I'll update this item then and indicate whether my guesses were right or not.

Thank you Secret Santa, whoever you are

Update: It turns out that, in Holland, December 5th is the day they open presents and, since my wife is of Dutch decent, we opened a few gifts today including the games from Secret Santa. My guesses were bang on and, in out first game, my son and I lost by 1 turn because we ran out of cards.

105. Board Game: Keythedral [Average Rating:7.12 Overall Rank:426]
I just found a package in my front hall. Apparently, my sister, who was kind enough to come over to help clean up for the holiday (U.S. Thanksgiving) tomorrow, took delivery and forgot to tell me. The package is marked "Royal Mail", so I'm sure it's nothing I ordered.

My plan is to wait until Christmas to open it, since it will be the only game I'm likely to receive.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
SANTA!!!!

I can truly say that I BELIEVE IN YOU, SANTA!!

Considering what it must've cost to obtain this game and ship it from the other side of the world, I am truly humbled and touched by your generosity.

When I saw that my Santa is from New Zealand, I asked for roast lamb. Since that would have been difficult to ship, Santa sent me the black sheep from Shear Panic to use as a player marker. It is soooo cute!

And the box was stuffed with candies instead of packing peanuts - an inspired touch, indeed.

So, THANK YOU AGAIN, Santa. This was my first BGG Secret Santa and I can't wait to do it again. (Is there a BGG Secret Easter Bunny or Secret St. Patrick?)

I have to say when I read all about the Secret Santa event I thought it would be fun but it probably wasn't for me. Then at the last minute, yeah Nov. 16th, I signed up. The next thing I knew we were assigned targets and the fun began. Being a first timer I couldn't have asked for a better SS. He, yes I know my SS is a he, sent me a couple of GM before I even knew we had targets and these were some darn good GM. Since then I've replied about 10 times in my profile and in return received at least that many messages from Santa and his crew. The experience has been great and I'm so glad I participated! I know some of you like to taunt and wish your target would write back and for those who don't; well you should give it a shot because it's a blast. I received a package from my SS 5 days ago and at first I was going to hold out opening it. I figured they're holiday gifts so I should wait. whistle Well I don't think my SS had planned for that. He's been trying to coax devil me into opening the box ever since it arrived. Well tonight my relatives are in town for the holiday and they wanted to know what the box was so I explained it and they got on me to open it too. So obviously if I'm writing all this I must have cracked the box. So without futher adieu....

The first game I pulled out was Power Grid. This was one of the top items on my wishlist. I don't know how he knew seeing as I have most items as a 3, because I'd be happy with anything, but he knew. This is awsome and I can't wait to give it a go.

The package was too large for just one game so I shoved those peanuts aside and fished for another game and found:

Zooloretto

This was just as awsome if not better than Power Grid. I had mentioned in my profile that I have a couple of young kids. Over the past month or so I had been checking into geeklists and posts putting together a list of games I thought my kids would like. This was #1 on my list. I put a few games on my list for my kids thinking it would be great to get something the whole family could play. Again, I don't know how my SS knew this was at the top of my list but this is awsome!

While trying to coax me into opening the package my SS told me the one wrapped had to wait until Christmas. So I knew another game was still to be found so I fished through those peanuts once more.

Christmas Tree

I will respect my SS wishes and place this nicely wrapped gift high on a shelf until our tree goes up. Then it will find a nice warm place under the tree for a few weeks until Christmas morning. Thank you so much SS!!! I'll update what's hidden under all that wrapping paper in 31 days.

Thinking that was all and needing to collapse the box I grabbed a garbage bag and began to dump the peanuts into it. As the peanuts fell I saw a non white non peanut looking object fall into the bag. No this couldn't be a fourth item.

***UPDATE***

Age of Steam

I managed to hold off until Christmas day. Although I must admit I pulled the gift out a few times and tried to figure out which of the games on my wishlist this could be. Not that I know the size and weight of all the games on my list, but I had to give it a shot. This was one heavy box so I know it had to have lots of bits. Well, finally today I got the chance to unwrap the package and see what else my SS had sent. As the wrapping paper came off and I read the name I realized why this one was wrapped. Age of Steam was not on my wishlist. My SS had gone ahead an sent a game that I have read about and thought about but didn't put on my list this year. I am so psyched to give this a shot. Each birthday is next month and each year the wife lets the guys come over for a day of gaming goodness. So in a coupe of weeks I'm going to get a chance to play both AoS and Power Grid! I can't wait, thanks oncea again SS! You are the best!

***UPDATE***

Archaeology: The Card Game

I couldn't believe it! Another game was hiding in all those peanuts. Again over the past few months I had been looking for some two player games that my wife would play and Archeology was one of them. I showed my wife and explained to her from what I read this is a fun quick game we can play in 20 minutes. She was soooo excited! As is the case for many of us our wives play games with us mostly out of pitty so a quick game and something she might enjoy; really hit the spot!

I just can't say it enough times, THANK YOU SECRET SANTA! As a first timer you made this something I will never forget and something I will definately do next year.

I put down my inlaws address in Canada for my SS to ship to, since it's a lot easier and cheaper than getting games shipped to me in Israel. (They'll be coming to visit shortly).

The package arrived a couple days ago, but my mother-in-law didn't get around to opening the box and telling us what was inside until now. The suspense has been killing me!

She found a copy of Tsuro, which is great since our gaming group could really use another filler, since the ones I have are pretty overplayed,
and also:

Race for the Galaxy: Rebel vs Imperium
which I've been looking forward to playing with in person with real cardboard and not just online

In addition there were two packages of Maynard's Fruit Mania. I'll let my inlaws share those with people at their work for helping bring over the gifts. (... and they're also not kosher, but that's a different story).

Thanks Secret Santa!

I was getting worried about not being taunted...

Then my Secret Santa sent me a message...

And while I was waiting for an answer... I got my gift!

I'm not too good with patience, so I opened my box. And lo and behold! I found a game with a cute chick on a blue backdrop! Ain't life grand?

So THANK YOU, Secret Santa, whoever you are. I have absolutely no idea where you come from, let alone any clue about your identity, but I want you to know I am very happy with my gift (and so is my girlfriend). All I hope is that you will receive something wonderful from your Secret Santa, because you deserve it!

Today Mr Santa gave me a visit. There were 2 games in my box. Whow

Thank you Santa for 2 games - now I'll have to wait more than 4 weeks until x-mas. 4 hard weeks, I think...

The small photo on the left is my present from SS 2oo8. Above you'll see the edition 2oo9

The x-mas tree is ready and my present is still wrapped...

As my kids and my wife came back from church, they saw all the nice presents under our x-mas tree. They opened their presents and I opened mine. Now I see, that I got The Ystari Expansion Box and Vasco da Gama. Thank you Secret Santa for being so generous. That would be a nice gaming session.

Yay!! Well a mysterious large bubble-wrapped bag arrived, addressed to me!. I eventually worked out from the cryptic return address that the sender was a game shop that I have never used. So I checked to see if they were on the SS shop list, found that they did gift wrapping, and felt it was safe to open.

So now I have a pretty box.

I don't know what is in it, and do not intend to open it until Christmas. But it is obviously a substantial game, from its size (it also rattles a bit like a jigsaw). So many thanks, Santa. Santa already knows, but the rest of you can come back in a month or so to find out what it was, and whether or not I broke my leg doing cartwheels of delight.

From the note about the Braves in the card that came with it, I deduce that Santa is an American with a sense of humo(u)r. You sure need one as a Braves fan these days ...

---------------------

... Some time later.

I opened the pressy today, after lunch as is our wont. I was delighted to find that it was Power Grid. I had had too much Xmas pud to do cartwheels, but am certainly very content with that. All I have to do now is get it onto the table to play with the family. We had lots of new games today (for which I am partly guilty, having bought at least one new game for each of my kids). So today we managed to play Dancing Eggs, Bunny Bunny Moose Moose, duck! duck! Go!. It was then my turn to choose, so I put Power grid on the table, but was overruled by she-who-must-be-obeyed, who saw how long it would take, looked at the clock, and insisted on something shorter. So we played Gheos instead.

down the drain!

My Mrs was home sick today and called me at work, saying "There's a package for you. From the US... You'll need to pick it up at the post office though. And there's a customs fee of $50. But hey, it weighs 5,5 kilos!"

My first thought was "Rrr, this will be an expensive christmas". All in all, I had already spent more than I should on games and postage for my own target. Now this? Still, I was very excited to hear about the weight! Weight equals games. In plurals! =)

When picking up the package at the local post office, once again I got a little worried. The package was pretty badly banged up!

Still, it was indeed a hefty package. I put it in my car, drove home and started opening it. Brushing away the packing peanuts, I was greeted with this:

Yes, Dominion - the only game on "Love to have" I regretted not putting as a "Must have"!

That was not all though - below the next layer of packing peanuts was my top wish. The one game I was certain I wouldn't get as it's so freaking heavy, and the one I wanted the most!
Tales of the Arabian Nights!

I was overjoyed! Thank you so very much Santa, and thank you for leaving me enough clues to be able to thank you in person as well as on this list.

So, in summary kids - you reap what you sow! I might've spent a little too much on my santa part, but I got it back. Not counting postage, I broke even! =) Well - almost! So me and the Mrs would like to say, once again;
Thank you so very much, Santa!

My most excellent Secret Santa sent me Ys and the expansion Ys+ - sounds like a programming language, doesn't it?

Santa was really great on keeping me updated on the gift. I got 5 emails from Santa - one reminding me to update my wish list and then 4 tracking ones telling me when the package will arrive. I think he/she had as much fun sending the gift as I will have playing it.

Thanks loads Santa. BGG Santas are the best!

p.s. Santa enlisted the aid of the fine folks at Time Well Spent http://www.timewellspentgames.com/content/home.php. They did a great job packaging the games and included a nice Secret Santa invoice in the package hiding the price and sender. I'll be ordering from them sometime soon. I just love the name of the store.

I think that's a good place to start.

It was the first thing that really drew my attention as I opened up this huge box that I had to carry, slung under one arm, all the way from the Post Office.

Like No kidding! I had no idea how I would ever get my hands on a copy of this game, it's not the type of thing my FLGS would carry, but something I've always had a desire to get into my collection. And Lo' the jolly fat man delivers!

but did I mention this was a large box? one that was very uncomfertable to lug all the way home?
That's because it was loaded with all sorts of goodies that made the trip well worth it.

Puerto Rico A game I could have picked up awhile ago, but my best friend has his copy and never needed to, something I wanted just to complete my collection however, and it's great to check that one of my list.

Race for the Galaxy: The Gathering Storm A game that the above friend told me he was going to buy me for christmas, now I have to tell him to change his plans and pick up IvsR instead. w00t for completing the group, (so far )

Catan Dice Game I played this while on a cruise ship in the middle of the Atlanic Ocean earlier this year, admitidly it did not endear it self to me, but I know it makes a great travel game, and is easy to teach so will be nice to carry around.

Fearsome Floors With Start player the only game on this list that I had never played before, just heard about. I really didn't know what to expect from this one, but it was the first thing I openened once splaying the box open upon my living room floor. With a read through the rules and fun punching out the pieces, this looks to be a fun game, a great game for some of my more non-gamer friends.

Now I have to say, that was quite the haul!
...

But wait there's more!

Hiding beneath the large Fearsome Floors was a suprise!

Power Grid: Benelux/Central Europe The only Power Grid expansion map that I don't own! the one I've been looking for all over the place to complete my Power Grid collection! Hellz ya!

What now you think it's haulie enough?

What if I said that Santa this year was quite the devious little man.
Included in my gift box of love was a tube filled with gaming love.

Dice of all shapes and sizes, dice within dice, little tiny dice, and intersped in this tube was the all powerful Meeple!
Colourful little meeples ranging from tan to brown, with little dice scampering between their toes. Oh the sight of that tube of glory was enough to make this poor man's scroogy heart creack a smile.
(I would have taken a picture but the light in this house is horrible )

now,...
you may think,
why is he still typing?
What more, after all this, could he possibly have to add?

It seems our dear old Saint Nick, has been running out of packing tissue up there in the North Pole, maybe the newspapers aren't getting delivered often enough, because for some reason, this boxes (and tube) of love were not packed in with your traditional packing accesories that normal and sane people would chose.
No these needed to be packed with a little something extra.
...
..
.
In my eyes, using Maynards candy is a new and unique way to pack gifts in this holiday season.
And how was Santa to know I just recently finished off my Halloween leftovers of Maynards and that empty spot on my shelf was looking aweful lonely?
How indeed?
He's been watching me hasn't he?
Peeking into my room as I sleep!
I know you're watching me Fat Man!
I know your plan!
I see through this thinly vieled attempt to make me come out of my house and speak to people in social situations!
So then you can grab me!
But it's not gonna work see!
You gave me two single player games!
So ha ha!
I can stay indoors!
You can't make me come outside!
You can't make me you hear!!!!

*muffled crash*

Yes! I love getting games in the mail, especially ones my wife can't get mad at me for.

"But dear, I didn't buy it, my secret santa did."

Thanks SS I was hoping for this one.

Santa is off the mark quick this year.

Get the email this AM and parcel midday.

Its going to be left un-opened till the correct day.

From my list, rattling and co-incedentlly reading reviews yesterday I think I have a clue. I'll update on Christmas day...

Thanks Santa and thanks Tom. Another great Christmas of joy across the gaming world.

Yesterday I arrived home to find a "sorry you were out card", so have gone to the local sorting office in the pouring rain today to get what I hoped would be my Secret Santa gift.

Inside there are two wonderfully wrapped packages. The shape of them completely gave away what they are. I would like to say that I resisted the temptation to open them, but technically that's not true.

I peeled off a couple of pieces of tape so I cauld check that my hunches were correct. Yep. So the tape has gone back on and the rest of the household will be none the wiser when they get home. whistle Don't quite know why Santa thought I was a good boy. If I'm told to open them later I will do.

As well as On The Brink, which I was desperate for, since I love Pandemic. I also got another expansion
which I have heard will make Alhambra a more satisfying experience.

Also included was a letter from my Santa, which ended in a riddle to his or her identity and I just happen to love a good riddle.

When I opened this list to look at where we were upto in terms of pages found, literally, the very first user comment I looked at fit the riddle and now I'm pretty sure I know my Santa, so thanks KZ, you're the best.

All reality is a game. Physics at its most fundamental, the very fabric of our universe, results directly from the interaction of certain fairly simple rules, and chance; the same description may be applied to the best, most elegant and both intellec

and aesthetically satisfying games. By being unknowable, by resulting from events which, at the sub-atomic level, cannot be fully predicted, the future remains malleable, and retains the possibility of change, the hope of coming to prevail; victory.

Santa hit one out of the park with this one. I got 3 games, with the most important one pictured to the left. I have never been able to find it here, so that was very welcome, especially for a TTR-fanatic such as myself.

Also in the package was:

Stone Age

and

Archaeology: The Card Game

Note that it was all shipped from the US, so this Santa was very, very generous!
