Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Hear ye, hear ye,

I just received a package from Santa. I opened the box and there was not only one but two well wrapped gifts and a card. Now I have to wait until Christmas to open them.

Thanks a lot Santa

Edit: I opened it yesterday (26th) and I'm very pleased to report that I got Pandemic: On the Brink and R-Eco.

Thanks Santa!

Oh Santa! I'm so sorry that I haven't properly thanked you before now for your "aperitif" that arrived Monday night! As you alluded in your message to me an "appetizer" would be on its way soon and the main course was still to come. Generally, I get home early with working in the high school, but I've been tutoring every day too. This week was crazy...so crazy that I almost missed retrieving the package entirely!!! gulp

I arrived home much later than usual - actually about 30 seconds after dear hubby (who is not to be trusted - he likes to taunt and tease and keep me surprises from me). He pulls up to the left side of the garage to park outside and I proceeded in on the right side. However, my eye spied a package in the darkness between the two garage doors. I casually got out and picked it up and got back into the car to drive it in and park. My husband noticed this and as he was walking into the house, he stopped to ask what I was doing. Just as casually, I mentioned that I picked up a package, and not letting on what I suspected it was. whistle

As he's walking away, his radar goes off and he backtracks to the car, and now decides to inquire who the package was from as I had only just placed an order on Sunday night from GameSurplus from my "target", and, as good as Thor is, he wouldn't have been able to get it to me the same day (it arrived the next day). I said it looked like it was a package from GameSurplus and "lo and behold" there was a tag that said it was from my BGG Secret Santa.

The wide-eyed innocent look wasn't going to work. He asked to see it, and I looked at him like "hell no!" because I could see a glint in his eye that suggested he had other intentions for my package. He promised me over and over and over again that he would give it back to me...and then I caved shake .

After what seemed like forever, he examined the box, shook it a little, and hesitated before he gave it back to me. angry In my mind, there was no way, he was going to make off with it without a struggle on my part. Then he asks the questions "so are you going to open it now or should we save it for Christmas?". I looked at him incredulously ...surely the man who has been with me for more than 20 years knows the answer to that question by now. Of course, I'm opening it now silly boy! laugh If necessary, I was going to cite specific permission from my Secret Santa to me.

I opened the box to find a typed message "An aperitif to kick off the holiday season! Santa" and underneath it was my copy of Pandemic: On the Brink along with a Spin-4-It finger pointer to determine who goes first. Thank you so much as I really love Pandemic and have been eagerly anticipating this expansion! I'm looking forward to playing it with my family and thanks again for spreading a little cheer my way during this holiday season. I know that I enjoy doing it each year myself and hopefuly you are too!

Ahhhh the postman. We have a love / hate relationship. Usually, he just brings me bills, so I curse him and release the hounds.

Once a year, however, he arrives at my door with a big box o' mystery. This year, it weighs a freaking ton.

Inside was a finely wrapped present from my H1N1 inflicted Santa, who I hope is feeling better. Attached was a candy-cane and a note, which suggests that another bundle of fun may be headed my way as well.

So, I will cage the hounds, protect the mailman, and place the present under the tree while I decide whether to wait for the 25th or not.... Either way I'll be waiting a bit, since my wife, who's at work, will want to be around for the unveiling.

Judging by the weight, I'm pretty sure I've received my number 1, non-hilinski dream game, so I'm very excited.

We opened this last night when my better half arrived. My suspicion was correct. Pitchcar! Fantastic! We can't wait to set it up. With several holiday parties on the way, this one is sure to get a lot of table time.

UPDATE: Got a nice big envelope in the mail today. Inside was a complete set of pieces to play Mario Pitch Kart! The amazing thing is that I was going to make a set, but hadn't gotten around to buying the discs, or printing the stickers yet.

Thanks again, Santa, everything was great, and yes, we're loving the game.

Arrived home earlier this week to find a rather large parcel waiting for me. Strenuously denying ordering more games to my wife, I soon twigged - an extremely early SS delivery.

Opening up the outer carton, inside were two very nicely packed parcels, which is a bonus as any one on my list would have been sufficient. Whichever games they are, I know they'll be good ones and they'll be opened on Christmas Eve in Germany. It will be a family Christmas for us in Germany and the games will be centre-stage.

Many many thanks Secret Santa!

PS Sorry I couldn't engage in the SS banter, sometimes real life - especially work - gets in the way of gaming!

Just 3 days ago I received my gift from Secret Santa. It was Race for the Galaxy!

So, kudos to my Secret Santa for an excellent choice!

I had a pleasant day watching our daughter play games in the parlor, also called the tea room, the sitting room, the reading room, the den, the front room, and, most importantly, the gaming room. A chess set is displayed on an end table, Quarto is upon the other, and Quoridor graces the tea table. She is almost three, but she has just as much enjoyment playing with the pieces as I have playing the games themselves.

Shortly thereafter, my wife was looking out of the dining room bay window and noticed a Penske truck pull up. She asked me if someone else was moving in the neighborhood, and I replied that the family across the street was moving furniture yesterday and that the truck was likely for them.

So I was shocked when the individual exited the truck and started to walk towards the front door with package in hand. My wife asked, "Did we order something?" (What she really meant is did I order something.)

I immediately responded, "No, it's from my Secret Santa!" She smiled that quaint smile of satisfaction, knowing that my future game purchases will occur only with funding from what I sell on eBay (and BGG, too).

Moments later, after I confirmed the package was from Boards & Bits and noted there were no restrictions upon opening it before Christmas, I beheld two games from the very top of my wishlist:

and

Thank you Secret Santa for bringing hours of gaming to our holidays and for the years to come.

Our little girl will enjoy this, too, once she has grasped the more complex concepts of gaming ... but, oh what a joy it is to see her start now, even if it is make believe with pawns, rooks, walls, and doggies (that's what she was calling the knights).

Merry Christmas and blessings and joy to you all! ... especially my Secret Santa.

Santa took good care of me this year. Not only did I receive Power Grid - a game that has been on my wishlist since I played it last year in Japan - but I also received the France/Italy and China/Korea expansions. As a further bonus, a guy I was stationed with in Japan came to visit and we've already knocked out a couple games!

Yet another wonderfully efficient Secret Santa. Earlier today the dog put up quite the racket. I look out the window and see a van sitting in the driveway. Heading downstairs I discover a younger guy in FedEx gear just getting out of the van. He looks through his pile of boxes on the passenger seat and then asks if I know what sort of box I might be getting. "No idea" is all I can reply.

It took him a good ten minutes to dig through the boxes and he finally emerges with one from Boards & Bits. Now, I have a housemate who also does the BGG Secret Santa, so still too soon to get my hopes up. But, yes, it is addressed to me! I waited until finishing chores this evening before opening the cardboard box to find a copy of both Prophecy and Dominion!!

Thanks Secret Santa!

True story.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving last year some friends and I had an all day board game extravaganza. We continued the tradition this year, i packed up my car this morning with about 20 games and drove to my buddys house. We played all day and i left around 6 PM. On my way home my wife called.

"ANOTHER board game was delivered today." (not even a hello or how was your day)
Hmmmmm i thought to myself, i haven't ordered anything. "Ok, what does the box read?"
"Bits and boards or something...do you really NEED anymore board games? "
She kept talking, but i wasn't really listening, that's when it hit me - Secret Santa gift!!! I hung up the phone and got home as fast i could. I opened the box to reveal Imperial!!! Thanks Secret Santa! Great job!!!

A few days ago I got the message from my SS that there were likely two packages on the way to me. Well, after getting back from my run today, I found two packages from Amazon on my doorstep. I kinda knew that my Secret Santa delivery had happened.

Race For The Galaxy was one of my top two games that I most wanted and I'm glad I finally have it. Now I can try to get enough plays to grok the strategy.

In the other box I got:

Power Grid: Benelux and Central Europe map. A nice way to spice up my Power Grid sessions. Thanks Santa!

Just got back from my Thanksgiving excursions to find a package from Santa sitting on my doorstep! Thank you, Santa, for being so prompt.

The problem with such a punctual Secret Santa is now I have to obsess about this package for the next month! Do I open it, or do I wait? Do I open it, or do I wait?

Looks like I picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue!

Update -- Dec 2, 2009: Honestly, I'm surprised I held out as long as I did! laugh I opened my package today to find used, but pristine, copies of Tigris and Euphrates and Alhambra -- two games I have wanted for some time. Thank you, Secret Santa, for a wonderful present!

My package arrived today! So excited! My boyfriend and I have decided we will open our BGG SS gifts together, so we just need to wait for his to arrive.

An update will follow...

~Roberta/Bobbi

:::UPDATE:::

Dear SS,
After an agonizingly long wait, I was finally able to open your wonderful gift. I think I had ripped off less than an inch of the paper from the back of the box and I knew INSTANTLY what it was! My favorite game that I didn’t own, a game I have yet to lose (I’m rather proud of this, hee hee): Kingsburg!!!

I think the first thing I said was, "I’ve had Kingsburg sitting right here ALL THIS TIME?!?!"

I couldn’t be happier! I’ve gone through my personal ceremony of punching out the pieces and organizing the box and have so far managed a play (my boyfriend and tried it 2-player and I was happy with the scale -- and, heh, I won. ).

I have a pretty good guess who you are, but think it not fair to "out you" I do thank you from the bottom (and top!) of my heart and hope you have a wonderful holiday season yourself!

Got a box today as I was leaving for a game day. Opened it to make sure everything survived shipping (I've been burned before waiting on something that then went past the time the shipper was willing to accept damage, so tend to open boxes right away), and found a copy of Amyitis on it! Today's game day wasn't the sort to sit and read rules at, so when we got back, I punched out everything and read the rules. I've wanted this game since I first read about it about the time it came out, and I'm looking forward to getting it to the table soon!

Thank you, Santa!

Santa seems to enjoy torturing me and my busy schedule!

He wasted no time as soon as his task was set in place snooping out whether I had been good or bad and discovered a second BGG account which I had created for making a custom deck of cards for IDKWDYWTP. I hadn't left any notes for him on either account and he seemed to be a little disappointed in me and sent me a message threating to send me a lump of coal named Monopoly!

I panicked and quickly changed my notes for him explaining myself but I have no idea if he received it in time or not!

So ensued a nervous few days as I wondered if I had screwed everything up this year. Well early this week I received a note on my door for a package waiting for me at the post office. I left it a couple days as I wasn't too eager to open up my combustible black version of Monopoly. Finally, yesterday before work I found some time to make a trip down there before work and was handed my package. Nervously I brought it back to my truck and opened it up. I peer down inside and see an envelope with my name on it and 2 gift wrapped packages, neither of which looked remotely Monopoly-shaped! Happily I opened the envelope and read the card inside.

To Peter,

You've saved yourself from Monopoly now, but watch to be nice next year!

I drove to work happily and was in a good mood the rest of the day. I came home that night and brought the box inside to show my roommate. As I was pulling all the packing material out I noticed at the bottom a 3rd package! My roommate tried to set the packages aside and told me not to open them until Christmas but my curiosity was killing me by this point. I brought them up to my room and tore into them...

The expansion to one of my new favorite games along with

and
!!!

I really wanted Saboteur as I was looking for more quick games that could be played with larger groups and Light Speed was totally off my radar but looks like a blast, and right up my alley along with a few other guys in my group.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Santa!

But oh no! I didn't have time to thank Santa personally yet as I had another shift to work today in the morning and I was already late getting to bed for it! Hoping Santa wouldn't feel too offended, I continued on my way, planning on making this post sometime after work. I got home a few horus ago and turned on the hockey game and ended up falling asleep as I definitely did not get enough sleep last night. When I woke up I logged into BGG and see another geekmail waiting for me. Oh no!

Quote:
Dear boy... Don't you know that some magical items can turn themselves into plain dark coal if you won't say some magical word in time?

But you've chosen to be quiet all along.
Well then.
Now be prepared!

Please don't change my lovely gifts into Monopoly Santa! cry

My parcel arrived this morning courtesy of Boardgameguru! Although its a little odd to have a postman knock on the door on a Sunday morning!

Anyway there was not 1 but 4 nicely giftwrapped packages inside.

I had resolved to not open any of them this year but my 20 month old had other ideas! Grabbing the smallest he opened it and to my surprise out popped Battle for Hill 218! Not on my wishlist at all but something I had looked at in the past and was very interested in! Thank you Santa for going "off plan" and getting me a nice surprise!

The largest of the 4 was then attacked with gusto and revealed itself to be Cutthroat Caverns : Tombs & Tomes! Woohoo! I love CC and now I just need to get Relics & Ruin to complete my set (methinks an early Christmas present to myself will do the trick!)

The 2 final packages are still wrapped up but from their shape and the prominence of the Small World expansions on my wishlist I'm pretty sure they are going to be the Cursed! & Grand Dames expansions.

Santa - Thank you very much for your generosity and I hope your have a fantastic holiday season!

We got home from Thanksgiving with my family and saw the big box. I couldn't wait to open it but since these are games for my family I had to wait for my son to go to bed and my wife to take a shower. I was then able to tear open the huge box and find not only Arabian nights, but also

Cutthroat Caverns

and

No Thanks!

I think Tales of Arabian Nights will be a big hit in my family - we love stories and my 8 year old has a great imagination AND they hate to lose so it will be fun to craft the tales.

Cuththroat Caverns and No Thanks are both games I have played before but do not own. I enjoyed them both and to see them in the box was a huge bonus. We will play those and I think my friends will like them too.

Thanks to my Secret Santa. I wish I knew who you were!

Well, after everything was done and the smoke cleared, I figured out that this is what I recieved from my regular Secret Santa. This one greated my Xmas morning with delight.

I was also in the Wargame Secert Santa exchange and a lot of the taunting was from him (Santa Grogs) and the Hawaiian Shirt gift card, Texas Glory, Battle for Hill 218, Animal upon Animal and The Battle of Seattle all came from him.

Then Teppo from the Thrifting SS sent me the Finnish language Ticket To Ride Europe.

All my Secret Santas we very generous and it made my season brighter. I thanks you all.

This is mt first year for Secret Santa, friday morning a geek mail from SS said

David,

I have heard that you were nice this year. Very nice. You deserve a great reward.

Enjoy!
Santa

As I was out of state with family for Thanksgiving, I could only wait.
So I played Loot and Cosmic Encounters with family to pass the time, and forgot about the message. Return home Saturday after a 4 hr drive, I return home to find a large brown box and remember the geek mail. first things first feed my 3 year old dice roller son and unpack the car. He spots the box and starts the try and open it, at this point I have lost my self-control (my wife has to hide things very well).

the first thing I see is

Wits & Wagers

then

Dominion

Citadels

Great Wall of China

Wits & Wagers Expansion Pack 1

Say Anything

My wife the points out the the box for Wits & Wagers the Expansion pack and Say Anything are writen on.

To what should I spy the they are signed by

Dominic Crapuchettes
and

Satish Pillalamarri

Also loose were packs of more questions for Wits and a Sticky pad for Say Anything.

Then I realize that Dominion is sitting high. I take it out.

Formula D

My SS is very well connected.

Thank you very very very^1000000000000 much Secret Santa.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the rebels are alive and well fighting the Imperium. Or is it the other way around? LOL!

Regardless, my Secret Santa is looking out for me and gave me this latest expansion to a fantastic game--it was at the top of my wish list. Thank you so much, Secret Santa!

I hope your holiday season is as bright as you have just made mine! Many, many thanks!

In life you have to do a lot of things you don't f*cking want to do. Many times, that's what the f*ck life is... one vile f*cking task after another.

Received a package the day before Thanksgiving. My SS had warned me it was coming, but I wasn't expecting it so soon.

Opened it to find that there were 2 boxes in there, both gift wrapped.

After some extra hints by my SS as to what they may be, I said "What the hell!" and opened them up. whistle

The first box was Pillars, and the second was The Pillars of the Earth: Expansion Set!

Got to play it with my brother on Thanksgiving and we loved it.

My SS has also mentioned that there is more coming! wow

The coolest part is that he took these 2 games from his own collection...how is that for giving!

Santa you rock!

I dont know what to say, I am kind of speechless, Thank you Secret Santa you did not "just" send me Battlestar Galactica, an awesome game I heard a lot of good about and my gaming buddy's will properly like since it is Coop. (They really love Pandemic and I think I might be a little bored by it by now, there is not enough you can do) I hope this will get a lot of plays and I get to be a Cylon devil.

No you also send me Pecking Order :

a 2 player game I have never heard of, but since it is two player and from Richard Garfield the guy who designed two of my favorite games I have high hopes for it and cant wait to try it out.

But wait that is not all, I also got a custom Geek Baseball Cap, I wish I had a Camera so i could show you how awesome it is, but i am sorry that I don't. Thank You Secret Santa!!!!

Upon returning from traveling for a week I find a box awaiting me at the door. The same as last year I open my mouth and she scooped it up. She claims if I really wanted to open it I would not have said anything and by saying something I am by default asking her permission to keep it secret till Christmas.

She is sleeping now. Should I open it or not?
