Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Well, I don't know what it is yet!

Got my package, which was preceded by a warning letter from Mayday games that something was on the way. And strict instructions to not open until Christmas. I am sorely tempted, but the wife told me no peeking.

So, now I must wait.

Oh, and it was the very first gift under the tree this year.

Thanks Secret Santa!

And now I know!

The pitchcar Stunt Race Expansion!

Thank you Secret Santa!

Well, I came home from shopping for groceries, and there, sitting on my desk was a board game sized box!

I immediately tore it open (forgive me Santa, I have no self control) to find inside a wrapped gift, and card stating '(I)...had been a very good geek this year.'.

I tried to get the game out of the cardboard box, and ripped the wrapping paper half off (it was tightly jammed in there, I swear!). Since I had already begun, and Christmas isn't that far away, I figured Santa would want me to finish the un-wrapping.

And what should I find inside?

Only the MOST WANTED GAME on my wishlist!

Thanks Secret Santa, you rule!

When I got home from work, there was a brand new Yellow Pages on my doorstop. There was also a package from Boards & Bits.

I opened it up to find a wargame I've been wanting... so I can relive one of my favorite novels: War and Peace. There was also a paper notifying me that another game is on the way. Woohoo!

My Secret Santa is one awesome dude/dudette! Thanks!

My Secret Santa fooled me when he told me that he was sending me a copy of Brass.

Finally it was another game from my wishlist: Funkenschlag, but that's not all... He send me also the expansion board of my country: Spain! and my lovely neighbour: Portugal, and Brazil on the other side...

I must have been a bad guy this year because I knew from the beginning that a little coal will come from my Santa...

I'm eager to play Funkenschlag again... now with my own brand new copy.

Thank you, very much! It has been a great surprise!

Well, my Santa is AWESOME. I can hardly believe the gift that arrived today. It is a huge box loaded with gifts. I found five and then when looking through the wrapping found two more taped together. I will admit that I was a bit naughty. My daughters wanted to open some. I told them they could each only open one. Then once we had played those we could open some more. They were very excited to open Zooloretto XXL (An expansion to a game my family loves.) and Clue: The Great Museum Caper (A game I have been wanting for a long while.). We all can hardly wait to play these and to find out what else is in the box. Thanks Santa, you truly are a wonderful guy. Happy Holidays to you. I will update when we open the other four five gifts.

Update: My daughters and I opened up two three more gifts. We opened up Vexation, Coloretto, and Zooloretto Exotic. More great expansions to games we love and a new game. I really like the XXL expansion and the vexation expansion. I think they make both of those base games better. I cannot wait to how Exotica changes the game and how Coloretto is. Plus I still have two gifts left to open.
My Santa has been great. Finding expansions to games that may family and I love and finding some new games for us to try. Thanks again Santa.

Update: I added this on page 41, but thought I should update it here too.

Well, I already have an entry here for my Awesome Secret Santa, but yesterday I opened that last two things and they really needed their own entry. On Thanksgiving I had gotten a taunt mentioning some games I don't favor too highly, Candy Land and The Ungame. These are games from my childhood, that I do not remember with kindness. On the other hand, my brother and some friends of ours used to play marathon games of Monopoly.
Then when the game was getting sent I was sent a taunt mentioning that Santa didn't get the ungame, but did get me the best version of monopoly out there.
For Chirstmas my daughters opened the last two gifts. (We had already opened Zooloretto XXL, Zooloretto Exotic, Vexation, Coloretto, and Clue: The Great Museum Caper. Awesome!)
They opened, the Ungame. Actually it was a box of smoked Salmon.

And What I have to agree is truly the best version of Monopoly out there today, Monopoly: Chocolate.

My Secret Santa truly is Awesome. Thanks for making this holiday season great for me and my whole family. I hope that everyone had as lucky and great of a holiday as our family had this Christmas.

Happy Holidays to all.

WOW! I already have posted on this list once this year when my SS intially sent me Blue Moon and 3 boosters. Which was a perfect pick. My wife and I enjoy that game a lot. I was pretty happy with what I got. Then Santa mentioned in an email that I will be expecting another package in the mail. I thought to myself "maybe it will be more boosters, or another Knizia game."

Then I get home from a long day at work to find a package on my kitchen table. I open it up and there is Power Grid!

I've been dying to try out this game and I have had my eye on it for quite a while. But you all know how it is. Too many games to choose from and not enough money or time.

All I can really say is, this is unreal. I didn't expect my SS to be so generous. This is my first year doing this and my SS hits it out of the park.

And the coolest thing about this whole SS on the BGG? These gifts will not just go sit on a shelf like any other possesion. You play with these, you make memories and have good times with family and friends. Stuff you carry with you for a lifetime. And the fact that the game is a gift from a total stranger with the same love for this hobby is super cool.

Thank you Secret Santa, I hope your Santa treats you just a well. And have a very Merry Christmas!

Last week I received my Secret Santa package. Just as last year, it was a package from Fun Games Cafe. Awesome! Inside the plain brown box was a nicely gift-wrapped box with a personal note attached:

Happy Holidays from your Southern (U.S.) Secret Santa.

Intriguing!

Santa also sent me a message telling me that another package was on the way. Wow! Santa, even though the next package will not be gift-wrapped, I will do my best not open the box until the big day.

Thanks Santa!

Update...

(Not so) Secret Santa, you rock!

I was determined to not open either of the packages you sent until Christmas. Unfortunately... I goofed and opened your second package thinking it was something else! So, yes, I was able to determine what was in the main package by the contents of the second package.

I received Small World,

and Grand Dames of Small World,

and Tichu!

I am pumped to get all three of these to the table soon. I have heard great things about Small World, and I understand Tichu is a classic. I hope to host a game night sometime in January, so I will have to practice up before then.

And to top it all off, Santa also sent me some tasty Oklahoma pecans (from Worley's Greenhouse), and a really nice personalized Christmas card from his family. Santa, you have a beautiful family.

This year I participate in 3 different Secret Santa's with 4 gift to send and 4 to receive obviously.

I participate here in the BGG main SS and in the BGG PnP SS.
Then I participate twice in the french Tric Trac Pere Noël.

Why am I telling that, well I received already last week three parcels so I figured out that one was missing. Two of them were quite obvious as one was written all over Tric Trac and the other was obviously PnP as my wife open the card that came with the gifts. So I was wondering if the last one was from TT or from here. As for TT, there is a date set for opening the gifts (Friday the 18th) I didn't open the TT gifts nor the last one. And yesterday I received a message from my second TT Santa saying that his parcel was on its way. So I figured out that the one I was wondering about was the one from my BGG Santa.

Today is my birthday and I decided to open the BGG gift this morning.

And woaw Assyria. It is maybe not the higher must wanted game from my list but it will surely be the most playable and the most played. I already played it twice with my friend's copy.

I had it several times the game in my hands in my local game shop. So very good pick and thanks a lot SANTA.

So my dearest secret santa was nice enough to give me tracking number for my heavy FedEx box that was headed my way. This made yesterday a day full of agony and joy as our apartment has always been one of the last places UPS/USPS/FedEx delivers in the day.

Indeed, from nine in the morning to six in the evening I found myself still obsessively refreshing the tracking page in anxious anticipation. My other half came home from work and saw me peering out the window watching for a FedEx truck (he was also holding a giant bundle that is his present to me, joy! But that is another story).

Finally, at about 7 pm, I spied the fabled FedEx truck! With glee, we waited for the box to be dropped off.

And it. Was. HEAVY!

Here we see my other half,
Dan Silverman

being ever so manly and helping bring the box in.

Then, we set it on the table. And here is me hugging the box in glee.

Then it was time to open it! Now, this is a funny story. Being a wonderful secret santa, santa had made sure the box was well-taped. We had a bit of trouble getting the scissors to cut through. Progress was slow, then suddenly, I was able to peek at something inside!

To see... a photo of a young girl? HUH? Is this really the right package? Is there really a board game with a picture of a happy young girl on the front? What's going on?

Then I realized above the picture, I saw a somewhat familiar logo and as I got the box opened further, I let out an audible gasp.

There were TEN. TEN. COUNT THEM. 10 boxes of girl scout cookies (YUM) and a bag of Reese's Cremes!

When santa said Mrs. Claus was filling the box with goodies, HE WAS NOT KIDDING.

Of course, in the box (lost amongst the cookies, mind you, the goodies were that tremendous), was also our GAME PRESENTS!!!

Amazing! Not one, not two, but THREE GAMES!!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!

Here is the picture of everything in the box together!

BUT WAIT, I'm not done yet. We don't have a Christmas tree and are more of a Hanukkah household so we decided unanimously that we should open our presents (okay, plus we are bad children and have no restraint but we are usually good, santa, promise!).

First, I picked up the smallest box and looking at its dimensions, I turned to Dan and said, "IT'S TICHU! YAY! IT'S TICHU." I opened it and my guess was spot on!

Tichu is my absolute favorite game and our copy is so used (and sticky due to use) that we were going to get a new copy within another month or so. And now we have it! Thank you for providing us with a guaranteed many, many hours of fun!

Moving on, I had NO idea what the next box was. It didn't look or feel like anything from my wishlist. We opened it to discover...

Saga! Something completely not on our radar but it's a 2-player! We are ALWAYS on the market for good two player games so THANK YOU FOR BEING THOUGHTFUL!

Now, the last box gave us some trouble. It was so heavy! We knew it had to be something off our wishlist, but what could it be? We considered Farmers of the Moor, but no, it was heavier. Was it Dungeon Lords? But Santa shipped this box before it was released so unless he used some really awesome magic power... What could it be? We tore off the wrapping to find...

Tales of the Arabian Nights!!!!! Amazing! How did you know? I have been coveting this game since its release and have been DESPERATE to try it. We've been hesitant to pull the trigger because of the price tag, and we're REALLY excited about giving it a go.

Thank you so much, Secret Santa. Your generosity went above and beyond. I just moved out to the New England area recently and it's been tough what with the lack of employment and being so far from family and friends. But you have really, really brightened my holidays and I will always be grateful. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas this year, you really deserve it.

And since I know who you are, I would like to direct all the "Wow's" and "You're so nice!" to

Well, after thinking my SS had forgotten about me, a strange parcel arrived this morning from Green Knight Games. I was a bit perplexed as I couldn't remember ordering anything recently, so I tore the box open, and inside were two gift-wrapped boxes, one board game size, the other card game size. I vowed not to open them until Christmas Day... 16 hours later the paper was strewn on the floor.

Pandemic! A game I've been wanting to get my hands on for quite a while. My group have been getting into some co-op games over the past few months (mainly Arkham Horror and Lord of the Rings), but I think it's about time we had something new to play, so this arrived at just the right time. Thanks Secret Santa, whoever you are!

Oh, and as for the card game, it was Fairy Tale, a game I know nothing about, but I like a good card game so I'm looking forward to learning it. Thanks again!

Last night, I opened a Forum thread, Santa, Can You Hear Me?, as a sounding board for those awaiting to hear word from their Secret Santas.

Ironically, when I get to my P.O. Box this morning, what should be waiting for me?

Inside is this game. I've tried it once. And while I still prefer the earlier treatment, Turning Point: Stalingrad, I know that this one will be much easier to teach others and has enough extra chrome to keep an opponent's interest.

Attached is a card:

J.L.,
I hope you and your
family have a very
Merry Christmas and a
Happy New Year
Yours,
B.G.G. Santa

But, I'm thinking to myself that this is a pretty large box for just that one game. So, I dig through the foam peanuts (thanks for those, too, Santa. My supplies were running critically low for my trading.) and I find:

Chancellorsville (second edition) (1974)

So, I know Santa was looking through my Wishlists. And although it's the '61 edition I have on my lists, this is a game I was forced to sell off years ago because of unemployment. So I'm happy to get it back. And a copy in really nice condition, too!

But, still, a pretty thick box for these two games. Shoving aside some more peanuts, I find a third item underneath:

Gettysburg (1964)

This one is a bit of an odd duck. I already own TWO copies of this game (one's missing a couple pieces and is on my trade stack). And it's not on either my Want or Wish lists. It's in really good shape, however, and I can construct an "upgraded" quality copy for my own collection. I think Santa thinks that I may have better resources for turning this game around in a trade somewhere down the line.

So, thanks a bunch, Santa! I'm looking forward to fighting the good fight into the New Year!

Dear Santa ~

Thanks so much for the gift you have sent this year. Just this past weekend my significant other and I had the opportunity to try Tobago, and confirmed that it should be the #1 game on our wish list. We both thought it had fantastic gameplay and a great mechanic. However, we resisted the temptation to buy it, knowing that it was on our BGG wish list.

A few days passed and I finally heard from you in a taunt to my GM. Knowing the package was on its way was just too much for my OCD to handle. In anticipation of your impending gift delivery, I had my girlfriend call FedEx to get tracking information for the package on Monday (I know, I'm horrible and do terribly with surprises). She found that the package would be delivered on Wednesday. This satiated my OCD and allowed me to function again.

Yesterday, to my surprise, I came home from work to find a package awaiting me on the kitchen counter. Every hope inside of me was dying for it to be a copy of Tobago in the box. I say this, because as a family gamer I wanted to immediately open it and introduce my whole family to the joys of this new release! I ripped it open, and much to my surprise, it ACTUALLY WAS a copy of Tobago! Santa must know me...

Unfortunately I did not get this on the table last night...but Santa...I assure you...this will be played over and over, loved and cherished and most definitely will see some table time before the week is out...

THANKS SECRET SANTA!!!!

~Ryan

I received a box in the mail several days ago. I waited, and I waited, and I...well, I opened it. Inside was Storms of Steel. I really like the system of the first installment and am psyched to get this on the table. Thanks Santa. Much appreciated. And Merry Christmas to all of you.

I HAVE BEEN A BAD BAD BOY - a lump of coal for me now on Christmas Day.

I PEEKED!!

My wife had placed the presents from Mrs. Claus under the tree with instructions that presents to be opened on Christmas morning. Well, what could I do? My wife had gone to bed and a voice called - "open them, take a look, just peel back the wrapping" - so I did.

And what did I find:
The bigger gift (which I thought was mine) is Carcassonne: The Tower. My wife will love that!
The smaller gift, which I now know is mine, was heavy. What could it be?
ARCTIC SCAVENGERS - COOL - THANKS Mrs Claus

This is a game I have been dying to get my mits on!

I carefully re-taped the wrapping and now no one but me will know! Oh and all you geeks out there!

AGAIN - Thanks Mrs Claus!!!

Thanks Santa.
Not only did I receive an edition of Caylus that doesn't have that scary guy staring at me, but it came with numerous player aids.

Thanks again for getting me one of my favourite games.

Thanks Secret Santa! A package arrived for me from Boards & Bits (one of my favorite online retailers) and I just couldn't wait for next week to roll around so I cracked it open.

What do I find waiting inside but the Pegasus expansion for Battlestar Galactica! We just played BSG the other night and were commenting how much we want to try out the expansion; I know this will be hitting the table soon.

That's not all, though! Also inside the package from Santa was the Relics and Ruin expansion for Cutthroat Caverns:

Cutthroat Caverns: Relics and Ruin

Cutthroat Caverns is easily my favorite take-that style game and I'm looking forward to seeing all the fun goodness this expansion adds.

Thanks, Santa, for greatly expanding the fun I get from two games I love!
