Once again I am running this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived to your house.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santas sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present!

I don't know about anyone else, but I generally obsess about whether a package has arrived at it's intended destination. I drive my wife crazy with checking tracking numbers constantly! So it will be nice to see when those gifts are actually received by the giftee (or are they just sitting unclaimed on the neighbor's porch?)

To see how the previous years' editions of this list have gone, look at these links:

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Simon's yearly breakdown of games:
**EDIT Just Added** Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2009

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2008

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2007

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2006

[b]New Note (I placed this in the comments section as well): If you have added a "Comment" of your gift receipt, please take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than to place a comment in this section of the receipt of your gift. The actual items being added is how the statistics get accumulated for Simon Hunt's great results list located at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/49122

A good example of how to make an entry useful for this other list is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

Dearest Santa,

ThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyou!!! You totally rock!

Since I'm heading up to the Great White North for what promises to be a Great White Christmas in northern Ontario, I opened the gifties early to see what I wanted to bring along to play with my family. It turns out I'll be bringing all three!

I've been waiting (almost) patiently for Dominion: Seaside, and I'm so thrilled to have it now.

Rumis will be wonderful to play with the "Little Sister" I mentor. I love puzzle games, even if I'm not very good at them.

I can't wait to introduce my family to Snorta after Christmas dinner - a little wine and animal noises with my parents and sibs... what could be more fun??? I can't wait to play them all!

This was my first Secret Santa game at BGG, and it's been a fantastic experience - both the gifting and the receiving. Santa - you made this first time very special, indeed, with your amazing generosity.

Thank you, Santa, from the bottom of my heart. kiss Best wishes for a very merry Christmas!

Nikkie

I came back from an out of town trip to find a box from Santa! I looked at it and was excited, trying to figure out what might be inside. It looked so nice on the huge pedestal that was practically covering the entire floor of my entry way. Looking closer at the pedestal, I realized it was made out of cardboard, flipped it over, and, holy moley surprise, that's a HUGE second package from Santa!

I have no idea what is in either box yet. Each box is in perfect shape, so I'm confident that the goodies inside are intact. I'm hoping to hold off on opening my packages for at least a few days (especially the huge one), so I can drive my 7 year old son and 9 year old daughter absolutely crazy. I got home late tonight, so they are both asleep already, but I'm sure there will be much pressure to open the boxes tomorrow (if I can wait that long!).

Thanks so much Santa!!! I'll update with the details once I cave in and open the boxes!

UPDATE:
Well, the plan to drive the little ones nuts worked like a charm, but they in turn drove my wife nuts, and I was asked, nay ordered, to open the gifts so that the children would stop bouncing off the walls.

Still wanting to milk it, I opened the smaller of the two boxes first. Opening this box revealed two nicely wrapped packages. A very small one contained Coloretto Expansion Cards:

Coloretto is a favorite family card game, and this expansion will get lots of play. So far, Santa is right on target.

Next, I opened the larger wrapped package from the smaller box. Castle Panic!

Wow, this was maybe my top new game I wanted! Cooperative games are great for my young ones, and this one will be perfect.

Santa could easily have stopped here, and I'd be more than happy. I told my kids we'd play a game of Castle Panic before we opened the huge package, and, while they are looking forward to playing it, they let me know (in no uncertain terms) that the monster box HAD to be opened NOW NOW NOW!

You might want to be sitting down for this one. I think this next package could push my Secret Santa into the number 1 Secret Santa slot for all of BGG.

Opening the huge box, and having no idea what I'd find, I dug through a bunch of packing peanuts to find a huge blue box. It was not wrapped in Christmas wrap, probably because Santa didn't want to sacrifice an entire tree for the wrapping paper.

I reached in, grabbed the handle, and pulled out...OMG!...ZOPP!!!!!!

If you've never seen Zopp, it's this huge, beautiful wooden table with wooden sliding discs -- a dexterity game that is kind of a soccer/air hockey hybrid. I've wanted this for a LONG time, but I never could get myself to plop down the significant cash to purchase it. My kids and I have played it several times already, and it is a BLAST!

I am so, incredibly, INCREDIBLY thankful to my Secret Santa for his/her extreme generosity. I wish you a wonderful holiday season, and hope your Secret Santa was half as generous as you were.

THANK YOU SANTA!!!

Dear Secret Santa,

I was getting worried that perhaps I had somehow been placed onto the naughty list but true to form you came through with absolutely perfect timing. Now I am not sure if Santa is supposed to be delivering Hanukkah presents but yours arrived in sync with the last night of our celebration.

Good fortune certainly was smiling upon us since you appear to have a timeshare in the Massachusetts region which is where I am originally from.

My Santa not only provided me with a game that I was definitely interested in since playing it a BGG.con. They did not have any for sale there so I was extremely pleased to see
Atlantis

after I finished tearing off the wrapping paper.

My secret Santa also was very timely and included this:
Wits & Wagers Expansion Pack 1

since I had just acquired Wits & Wagers at the BGG.con math trade it was a great choice.

I always appreciate the custom touch and my santa certainly added a little hometown flavor. Included in with my fantastic presents were a set of ballpoint pens and a magnet from Harvard (where my Dad actually attended college), a Red Sox bumper sticker, a Fenway Park magnet and most important a jar of Dustin Pedroia Salsa (who knew the man could hit and make salsa).

So thank you very much secret santa, you were a strong silent santa this year but you definitely made my holiday season brighter. I hope you and Mrs. Claus get to rest up a bit after your busy night to come.

Thanks again.

The postman tried to deliver this yesterday, and left a card to come and collect it at the post office.

Where was I yesterday at the time he tried to delivery it? At the post office picking up my RPG Secret Santa box, the only brief time I was out of the house having taken the day off to mind my daughters for the day.

The card that was left however was for W & J, so I thought it must not be Secret Santa gift, however when my wife went to the post office there were two packages and one contained several items including Dominion: Intrigue.

Also individually Christmas wrapped were:

* Gloom: Unwelcome Guests
* Small World: Grand Dames of Small World
* Small World: Cursed!

Thanks Secret Santa, a nice selection of expansions to great games.

My Secret Santa Gifts arrived!!!!!! yay

and SS did a GREAT job. Here's the task I gave him...

SECRET SANTA
ANYTHING, new, used, whatever you think my family would like. Here's the scoop. I like multiplayer games, my son and daughter, now 24 and 26 play to win like me, but my wife is a casual gamer that just plays as a filler spot. No games where players are eliminated before the game is over (my wife would make sure she gets eliminated in record time).

We all enjoy lighter games, my wife really likes Mother Sheep, my son plays more complex fantasy themed games, I like WWII miniatures(but no one else does), and my daughter likes games like Niagara.

So a light, but no too light game for multiplayers in a fantasy setting would satisfy my family, me?, if the family is happy, then I am VERY happy.

In addition to Iron Dragon which all of us will be playing as soon as my daughter gets back, SS gave us

Colossal Arena

another great family game for the 4 of us.

then in the box was

Battle Line

A great game for me and my son to play. We'll both enjoy this a bunch.

AND THAT'S NOT ALL. SS gave us 4 games finishing off with

Gift Trap

WOW, my SS took the time to read my profile, look at the games we own and made fantastic selections for us. I am very grateful and we'll enjoy playing all of them over the holidays while my daughter is home from grad school.

Very nice choice and a more than welcome addition to my collection. This game will hit the table a lot.

Thank you Santa!

My parcel arrived today!!!

I got the wife to open it and she has promised to put "everything" (?!!) under the tree...it seems Santa has been very generous, and not only has chatted to my GeekBuddy Phil, but has also sent me all kinds of things including a special letter from Santa and his elfs on real Santa paper!!!

Almost giving in to the temptation, I managed to hold my wife's head under a copy of Agricola until she yielded and gave me a clue that one of the delights in this enormous package is Tobago. Wow! Great choice Santa, this is an excellent game, from what I've read, and great for family and friends alike.

Santa, you are so cool. North Pole cool. Cooler than that, even. Will update on Christmas Day when I get to see the rest!!

Edit: Christmas Eve and I have opened my 1st gift: Lord of the Rings, The Confrontation!! I can't tell you how great this is...I have been after this game ever since it first came out, but it's one of those games which are no good in German. This is the U.S. Deluxe =Edition and I am so thrilled. Thanks, Santa...laughlaughlaughlaughlaugh

Edit: In our house we don't open everything all in one go, but gradually over a week or so :-). So Today I was thrilled to open two more presents from Secret Santa!!! Santa bought me a Pringles snack pack, which is like an amazing little selection of packets of pringles, sticks, etc which I will get out with pleasure next week when I host games night :-) Love it.

Even more intriguingly, Santa sent me a fan little packet of Neocube magnets - see this video - they are amazing!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a0LzVIaH9k

The kids love them and we've had great fun with them. I've never heard of them before and I'm very impressed - thanks Secret Santa!!

The perfect gift!

I have been looking at this gem for a long time, listening to good critics and reading reviews. But I didn't get to play it. Now is the time.

My secret santa picked the the best choice of my wishlist. Thank you so much.

But it dont stop there.... He also threw in Acquire

to fill in the classic holes in my BG collection.

Again thanksalot, Super Secret Santa. Now christmas is saved, and I don't have to complain over only "soft" packages

Last year was my first Secret Santa here on BGG and there was no way I was going to miss out on it this year. In one of the comment threads about the SS, I said last year I received a game I'd never buy myself - Tikal. Once again, my SS has given me a game I've wanted for a long time but would likely never buy - 2 De Mayo! I've wanted to play this for *ages*.

And my Secret Santa said to expect another package once something came back into stock with his elves. Woohoo!

Thank you, Secret Santa!

Pre-Opening Message

I picked up my package yesterday from my friends who were the delivery point... which made a completely awesome day cause got my Secret Santa gift and got to go to Green Day's final concert of the tour (my favourite band).

Today I let my boyfriend peek into the box for me... it's unwrapped so he gave me a packaging peanut to tide me over. I got my revenge devil... he's ticklish and packaging peanut was as excellent as a feather on the soles of the feet.

He will wrap it for me so as I can have the pleasure of guessing what the game is. And my only clue is my boyfriend says it looks interesting and it's something he might play (yay!).

Post-Opening

Christmas starts a little earlier in NZ (right now it's almost 11am) but I opened mine at 1.30am!! I am not usually the crazy sort who will wait till midnight as an excuse to open my presents but I was picking up my sister at the airport at an insane time. So of course I had to open it when I got home... it was Christmas right?!

And yay it was the game I guessed after much fondling of the wrapped gift and was the perfect one to choose cause even though I did want it I couldn't justify to myself to spend the money for an expansion to a light game. So now am very happy that I can combine the two games for more variability of fun!!! And yes my boyfriend will play it!! Thanks Secretly Silent Santa (who put another geeks name on the customs paper)

My Secret Santa had tipped me off a week or so ago that he had something in the works. Last night I received a call from the local mail order store that he had a package waiting for me.

So, this afternoon we drove out and found not one, but two lovely wrapped parcels waiting. And two packages of Maynards candy to go along with it. Also included was a nice Christmas card from my Secret Santa, Fat Tony and Little Marge (aka Tony and Gretchen).

I guess Tony is struggling with that whole "secret" concept.

After some debate, I decided to open the packages immediately, just to check for damages or missing components, you understand. whistle In the first box was the pictured Power Grid: Factory Manager, and inside the second was Pandemic: On the Brink

Excellent choices and awesome generosity, Tony & Gretchen. Deb and I thank you for your gifts, and wish you a Merry Christmas.

Not only did Secret Santa send me a very slightly used copy of Acquire, with a great note inside hoping for a better home, they also sent Dominion Seaside with the card sleeves. Santa has a slight bit of irony here, but I won't divulge too much in protecting my own identity. Thanks so much Santa, it was the perfect thing to come home to today after a 6 hour drive through moderate traffic.

Got me Secret Santa gift just a few days ago. The box was opened by wife who confirmed two unwrapped board games. She promptly took them and wrapped them. I'll have to wait one more week!

Thanks Secret Santa!

Update: Opened the two games on Christmas and got O Zoo Le Mio off my wishlist and Neuland. It wasn't on my wishlist but I had been looking at it and fits my type of games perfectly. Thanks secret santa, you really knew what I would like!

Its not that I don't have the words (patently I do, since I am now writing them!) rather its that someone, somewhere has inspired feelings, emotions and words that have SO deeply touched me that I just had to get straight on here and shout them from the roof-tops!!!

I am a teacher and I was giving a Christmas assembly message on Friday just before we broke up for the holidays. In that talk I said, "It's not so much WHAT someone buys you, its the love and thought behind it that really lights it up and makes it precious and special!"

Hey, I know that this sounds corny, but I DO actually believe this sentiment and so what has just this second happened is all the more amazing and wonderful to me!!!

My wife and I had been sitting around and chatting and then someone rung the doorbell. My wife answered and then came back into the kitchen clutching rather a large box addressed to me.

I immediately assumed it was a gift I'd ordered but there was a BGG sticker and image on it and I quickly realised that this was from someone else. My mind was working overtime because I hadn't signed up for the Secret Santa this year as we simply don't have enough money at the moment (I am not seeking sympathy on this point, its just a fact. We had to move house unexpectedly last year and it put us in HUGE debt...)

There was an evelope on the front that said: "Open First" so I did!

I won't, of course, detail the contents of the card inside, other than to say that it literally brought my wife and I to tears. The person writing clearly knew some things about me and had made some very, very kind observations and had written with huge generosity of spirit. They signed off, "Your unexpected Secret Santa "

Without being too melodramatic, I would like to thank this person from the very bottom of my heart for their outrageous generosity. You simply won't know how much you have touched us both (by the way, all my boys are here at the moment as well for Christmas and they just couldn't believe that this has happened!)

I so very much wish I knew who you are so that I could thank you personally and yet I totally respect your anonymity and just hope that you will get to read this so that you'll know your gift has arrived.

Against every fibre of my being that wants to open the gift this second I am resisting so that I can open it on Christmas morning with my family and then can think again on this person's amazing kindness.

I realise that I must be sounding mighty sickly to some folks - it's just so rare to be exposed to such blatant kindness that seeks no acknowledgement or reward - it has touched us all so profoundly and will continue to do so when we play whatever it is that is in the box...

Yes, I absolutely PROMISE here and now that I will take part in next year's Secret Santa and if I can offer 2% of the joy I have just received I know that I'll have done well...

What an incredible community this is - I am so very, VERY glad that I am a tiny little part of it.

Here's to an amazing, thoughtful, reflective, joyous and love-filled Christmas to each and every one of us - this gaming stuff really transcends the actual gaming doesn't it?

After wearing the F5 off of my keyboard refreshing the tracking info that my SS gave me, a package from Boards & Bits finally showed up.

My girlfriend was absolutely no help to my willpower as she suggested that I go ahead and open the box. I did explain to her that if they were wrapped, then karmicly, I would have to wait to open them on Christmas (knowing full well I was lying to her and that she'd probably have told me to open them anyway).

So I took a break from cleaning out the birdcages and sat down in the big chair with Swiss army knife in hand.

First thing I saw when I opened it was Saboteur sitting right on top nestled within the packing peanuts. Yay! I can be a backstabbing jerk and get away with it within the context of a game! devil

But there's something else at the bottom of the box and I can *just* read the words Third Edition. I clear away the peanuts to either side of the box only to be greeted with Ernie's smiling face in B&W and "Merry Christmas from your BGG Secret Santa!"

C-blocked by Ernie - but not for long!

I lift up the paper and finally see what "Third Edition" refers to:

Hammer of the Scots

Has my Secret Santa been stalking me, even at BGG.Con? Or is he a member of my gaming group?

During BGG.Con, I checked out HotS from the game library to check out the rules. See, I'm one of three regular members of my gaming group. Over the last two years or so, I've learned what kind of games everyone likes and will play or doesn't like and won't play - including myself. And usually I come to loggerheads with one of the guys because he likes Ameritrash and I prefer Euros. When we meet in the middle with area control games that have militarized combat in them, I find that that's *exactly* the kind of game that I hate.

"I don't build civilizations just so you can break them down and/or take them over, Sir!"

So we agree to disagree and rotate game-playing decisions every week and tolerate each others choices because, well, there's three of us.

Back to BGG.Con...

I checked out HotS on Sunday afternoon about an hour before the library closed just so I could read the rules - and because I was trying to find a wargame that I could tolerate. I figured a block wargame would scratch that itch for him and yet still be light enough for me. He actually walked up to me while I was trying to read the rules and was surprised that I was actually interested in it. I told him why I was reading it and he advised that he had a copy and would teach me - so I folded up the rules and put them back in the box because the library was getting ready to close and I fear the wrath of Derk. Still unable to play the game, but happy that I now had something to look forward to playing with someone at whom I'd been at odds with, I return it to the library.

We still haven't gotten to play, but I wasn't going to remove the game from my wishlist just because I had access to someone else's copy.

So, in conclusion, Thank you, Secret Santa! For not only getting me games I really wanted, but helping me to bridge a gap within my very small gaming group!

Yet another very generous Secret Santa!

Not just one...
Le Havre

but 2 fabulous games from my list!

Tigris & Euphrates

It has been a long time since I've been able to buy myself a game. I am most grateful!

Thank you Santa!
Maybe someday we can play that game which you have never won so you can have your first victory.

May you and your family have a Merry Christmas and joyous Holiday.

My SS was tricky this year... I thought he forgot about me and was wondering what did i do bad this year cry

I came from work last friday to discover at my door 3 packages!!

Being a game collector, i often buy around the globe to get games, promos and so on... so i simply told myself that i received 3 things that i've ordered recently and i did order a bunch of stuff in the last weeks.

Opened the first one, opened the second one and seeing the last one was sent from Ontario (my neighbour province in Canada) i asked myself what this could be since i did not bought in Canada for a while now beside my local game store of course.

I was delighted to discover 2 nicely wrap boxes in it!! Saw the nice x-mas card confirming that my SS didn't forget me laugh To avoid any game duplicates i might received and buy during the holidays i always opened it at once and was very happy to get:

Havana!! I was looking foward to play this one since i do love Cuba a lot and was thrilled to get it when they announced it's release.

I also got a smaller box that was:

A very nice quick game that i discovered when an acquaintance who went to Essen this year introduced it to me at a small game day not far from my home. I was very happy with this one too.

Thx a lot SS, you really made my holidays this year very special!

I'm dedicating my Arena Roma II's win last friday night to you!!
