Three years ago, when I entered college, I met a very peculiar and interesting man whom I became fast friends with. I worked with him on many projects, and as we spent time together, I realized that not only was he an incredible friend, but that he had a deep interest in board games as well as I did.

His name is Adam, and there was only one issue.

Blokus could work for him but you might have to give him a way to know which color was which.

So I received a package in the mail today. I eagerly tear open the packaging to find...

A brand new copy of Ra!

Now, I won't reveal the identity of the man who sent me this unless he wants to, but this is simply amazing!

Unfortunately, I'll be heading to Florida for a week with the folks to see family. But when I come back, I'll make sure to document this so you fine and generous folks at the BGG can see just how we make these games work!

Thank you all for your comments, generosity, and interest.

I have been playing this one alot recently. I think this game would be verry easy to modify for play with a person that is blind.

Have fun.

This very light filler is quite popular with the visually handicapped guy in my game group. Hardly any state to keep track of, and it's easy for everyone to count out loud when adding tokens to the pile.

The cards don't even need adapting if another player is willing to keep him up to date on what card has just been revealed and who wouldn't mind getting it.

the only modification needed would be to give a player tokens of a different shape (not cubes) and the game is totally playable by a blind person.

I came across this one by thrifting. Its also an audible game, though a bit more complicated to play blind. In the middle of the board there are wooden beehouse shaped things which contain from 1 to 13 metal pellets. Two dice are rolled - this is the magic number (can be announced). Players shake the pellet containers to find one that contains not more pellets than the magic number. And possible not much less. All players take one container. Containers with more pellets than the magic number are put back - no movement in this round. Containers with up to the magic number give movement points, as much spaces forward as the number of pellets they contain.

I noticed that by using a different shape for each sheep (this is starting to sound like a tongue-twister), this game should be not only colorblind-friendly, but also blind-friendly… but then I noticed that the bridge pieces all seem to have the same shape; however, since they have numerical values, I suspect that some "authentic worn-wood" notches could be added to solve that problem.

Still, it's great that the different sheep have tiles of different shape. Worth considering!
